Yeah, stop posting that image please, it makes me feel a bit sad that we're not getting that one

Be happy, they're Lego :D you can buy the model and modify it as you wish!

I already tried to duplicate the car front with LDD on the base of the preliminary images, and it's quite good. The only parts very hard to do are the panel over the tires because they does not exist :(

Did anyone count the number of panels on the final version? It ses there has the numbervof panels was reduced, or am I still seeing everything about the soontobereleased ugly duckling in a bad way?

You know, sometimes I wonder if the TLG designers/marketing personnel read these forums and see all these negative comments. I wonder what they're thinking

With so much criticism If I were the designer of the second model I would be frustrated and secretly hating you all and planning even more disappointing and uglier designs as a subtle vengeance.

But that's me, I am a resentful bitch

I think some of them read these forum of AFOLs...btw there're the ambassadors so maybe you can contact them to link this thread or others ;)

You know, that does explain the design of 42029 and 42039

Nah, I'd want them to keep a positive outlook on life.

The more I look at this car, I think my main problem is the lack of curves the car is supposed to have. I know that Technic is difficult to build curves with, but I think the new panels used for the wheel wells could have easily been replaced with flex cables (which we are all dying to have more of anyways). everyone thinks the new panels are assets, but at least how they are used in this model, I don't think they work well at all.

In addition, although Sariel's recent video seems to portray the size of the car as an asset, I think, once again the size is distracting. It is not supposed to be a huge car. For how long it is, with as few of parts that were used, there are actually lost of gaps in it. I would have appreciateda more compact, shorter car; like in the photo above.

Comparing old vs new reminds me of the Unimog 8110. I do not recall the thread but there were several prototypes (on display at some Lego office) before the final version, and those prototypes looked VERY different than the released model.

Can u show your LDD work?

I like the overall size of the set...its HUGE!, as for functions...its in line with 8070 and other cars of its ilk. There are limits as to what functions you can incorporate into such models.

For parts its a great set!, lots of unique elements and colours.....i think most would agree the preliminary image of this set was a much better design.

But overall i think its a very good set and on my shopping list.

Wow! The B-model is even better than what I expected! Those headlights are very cool and seem to work very well and smoothly.

Also it has less gaps than many B models and a cool livery.

Yes, the B-model indeed looks much cooler to me than the A model. But, did I really hear Kossi say that light green colour is exclusive to this set only??? Another downer from my point of view... :sceptic:

Hmm, the B models is nice indeed, the function where the front headlights come up is pretty cool ! However, i expected more from UW, he designed some awesome models in the past, this one is ... not so great.

as it is a new color it's was probably intented to be "at the moment it's an exclusive to this set". So maybe in the next years we will get more sets with the same color.

That might be one of the better B models we have seen for a while. The hood is a little clunky, but those lights made me smile. I can see a MOD coming for this, much like the 8081 4x4.

I might be interested in this set after all.

didnt someone here say Uwe took time off before he finished the model and some post grad guy took over?....Uwe did design the amazing pre release image model that looked SOO much better then the final product!

That back end needs a 5x11 green panel though to fill that huge hole!....i know its supposed to be a window.....but i would have put a 5x11 panel where the 3x11 panels sits now. And then have the 3-5L area on top as the window area. There is only one seat so that area could be used for power fuctions.

This b model is superb and easily the reason to buy this set!

My 4yo son loves this model. I like it too, although the wheel area looks awkward and I would have preferred flex axles there. It's just a model of a different car compared to the preliminary photos :hmpf_bad:

Looking forward to see this set in the stores. Seems to be a lot of empty space to RC both the A and B model. Has anyone who owns this set tried it out yet? Would be nice to see some options before I order mine!

I'd be really disappointed if this set costs more than $100. The 42000 had at least 2 LAs, a couple of U joints and wishbones to somewhat justify the $129 price tag. This seems really bare bones for a semi-flagship.
