I was at the presentation as well in and can confirm everything TWP said. The canopy is EPICby the way, but I do hope Boba will get the thin black paint splat on the neck part, as the one that was presented didn't. As a consequence every time you lifted the helmet, the headpiece came along. Took me ten times before I could finally see the face of Boba. And he didn't look like Jeremy Bulloch at all ;-)

Can't wait to get this! I will build it as-is, then I'll reconfigure the underside to allow for a slightly different engine setup, with some trans orange dishes. Engines were also a problem with the CW Republic Frigate. The comparison will help me to decide what color and style I prefer for the underside. The rest of the model looks fantastic, and doesn't appear to need a lot of modification. Very nice design here, and I can't wait to get one! (or two  )

Sleek, large, and swoosh-able. Looks like a day one purchase for me! I do hope that cockpit piece is printed... I would like it to have some sort of interior space to add lights if one would like to do so. But of course that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. My favorite design element would be the ship's base. Considering their limitations of part inventory, I think they did the best they could do without introducing new pieces. Originally my major concern was the stability of the model, however thanks to the technic frame, it shall be solid as a rock. I love seeing technic being used in these larger models, such as the more recently released Sandcrawler and Red-Five X-Wing, because they really keep me engaged in a long building session. Don't get me wrong of course, I love the normal brick building. It is just that sometimes after building for a five to nine hours, it can become somewhat dull.

I think the cockpit has stickers on the bottom, not prints.

So, the cockpit does indeed have a small pair of stickers near the hinge...

Not a wonderful thing, but it does mean a couple things:

1: If you don't put the stickers on, or you buy another, it is easier to use in a MOC.

B: The stickers are small enough that they'll be much, much easier to apply than the monstrosity on the Red 5 X-Wing canopy...

I think if you left the stickers and the single 1x2 tile off, it would still look good.

That being said, I hate stickers too. The cockpit ones especially.

Stickers don't bother me at all... they're just something we're going to have to get used to.

Once applied properly they're not so bad... I think it's just the possibility of cocking them up that puts people off.

This will be taking up most of New Year's day for me! :)

I don't know that you can tell that from the video. Initially it seems to be canted, but later on it looks like it does. Regardless, a few degrees of cockpit rotation is not a big deal.

Also, I like what they did with the instruction manual. Nice review too.

I'm very interesting in this set. I have the previous Slave I (8097) but I'm truly considering to buy this one as well. I have still to decide whether buy this or the Sandcrawler as my next UCS. Decisions, decisions

I'll give a look at that video reviews soon. I really like detailed reviews but sometimes, when I'm very busy, I wish there were "quicker" reviews

Btw from what I saw I can tell the instruction manual is a wonderful collectible itself.

Slave I looks great, can't wait to get my hands on one since UCS sets are what brought me back to Lego. The mistake on the sticker kinda makes me want to hold off though. Do they normally fix up mistakes like that and make the sticker available to people who purchased the set before the correction?

The cockpit actually does rotate fully 90 degree and maybe something more, if I remember correctly. You just have to adjust it manually, it will not automate though gravity like the wings tend to do.

I do believe that stickers in these UCS-sets are absolutely disgusting. Yes, LEGO have gone to almost solely stickers, but these are supposed to be sets for adult collectors, they're supposed to feel luxurous and nice and the very least we should get is printed elements.
