Xenophobic Monoxide Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I agree with the green gentleman. While I'm not saying we should lynch Mencot by any means, I'm merely saying that his claim is somewhat suspicious and we should keep a close watch on his actions.
Cutcobra Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Nope. No special information. I just did the "assigned reading", so to speak. I understand that people who claim miller on Day One tend actually to be millers, because scum like to fly under the radar and not draw attention to themselves. It is pointless to suggest that some roles are "too advanced" for a Mafia School, since Dr. def gave a list of roles (quoted above) from which our roles are drawn. The miller is in that list. Furthermore, the first time I went to Mafia School, the scum had a Framer which, according to mafiawiki, is explicitly not normal. To play WIFOM with a Day One miller claim is to introduce doubt without actually being helpful. So those of you who doubt there could be a miller in this game have either not done their reading or are scum. I'm pretty sure that the host also asked if Serial Killer was also too complex, which by the way is also on the Explicitly Normal list. He also gave this list about how loosely the roles would be: Scum-Godfather (reads as town to the cop, no night action) -2 Goons (one of which must perform a night kill) -blocker (same as towns) He could have changed it and added a role like Miller, as you said, but I still seriously doubt it. But still, you keep saying things like "not done their reading or are scum". Really? Just because I doubt there could be a Miller means I'm automatically scum?
Pyrovisionary Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 While this is true, there are other roles specified in the Explicitly Normal category. Many other roles. Surely too many for all or even most to be present in this game. So, just because we CAN have a miller, doesn't necessarily mean we DO. Oh yes, quite. I'm still waiting for one of us to unwittingly claim to be a godfather. Hulk think we should not hurt strange Wizard who claim to be Miller. Hulk also think that people who don't like being in character miss have fun playing game on two levels. So you're protecting him? I'm sorry It's hard to understand what you mean when you speak like that, in big green words.
Xenophobic Monoxide Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 In combination with the above post, may I also point out that jamesn has been accusatory towards those questioning the allegiance of Mencot, to the point of saying they might be scum? I'm no expert but I believe this behavior is generally associated with Mafia players. Not trying to point fingers here though.
jimmynick Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 He could have changed it and added a role like Miller, as you said, but I still seriously doubt it. But still, you keep saying things like "not done their reading or are scum". Really? Just because I doubt there could be a Miller means I'm automatically scum? Just because Dr. def posted a vague outline doesn't mean that the sides have exactly the night actions posted. Also, since the miller doesn't have a night action, it's basically a sub-role of 'vanilla'. ... jamesn has been accusatory... Day One doesn't get anywhere without accusations. For what it's worth, you're definitely pointing fingers.
Lind Whisperer Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 So you're protecting him? I'm sorry It's hard to understand what you mean when you speak like that, in big green words. Sorry, I'll turn role-play off. What I'm trying to say is, Mencot's already drawn attention to himself. He's not doing a very good job blending in. He could be doing a very good job playing a mafia character, or he might not be. Either way, he's already drawn attention to himself, and I think we can should let him live, at least for the moment. In combination with the above post, may I also point out that jamesn has been accusatory towards those questioning the allegiance of Mencot, to the point of saying they might be scum? I'm no expert but I believe this behavior is generally associated with Mafia players. Not trying to point fingers here though. Good point. Of course, you could be directing attention also. Of course, I could be trying to direct attention by pointing out the chance that you might be directing...
Xenophobic Monoxide Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I am pointing fingers. I'll try to stop now. There's really honestly not much we can do on Day 1.
Yzalirk Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 It's quite odd to see everyone turn on each other on Day One, check please?!
Duvors Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Hulk think we should not hurt strange Wizard who claim to be Miller. Hulk also think that people who don't like being in character miss have fun playing game on two levels. Yeah lets... play it safe... wait, what was that about in character?
Xenophobic Monoxide Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Yeah lets... play it safe... wait, what was that about in character? Playing it safe would be not lynching anybody, and we have to lynch somebody. Goliath, you've been very quiet this whole time... what's your opinion?
Cutcobra Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Just because Dr. def posted a vague outline doesn't mean that the sides have exactly the night actions posted. Also, since the miller doesn't have a night action, it's basically a sub-role of 'vanilla'. It's still seems a little weird to ask the people if they want to make it a little more complicated by adding SK, some of them say it doesn't matter some them say they don't want complicated games (basically, no serial killer) and then put a Miller. Day One doesn't get anywhere without accusations. For what it's worth, you're definitely pointing fingers. It doesn't get anywhere without accusations, but it also doesn't get anywhere with pointless accusations. As in: Saying someone is scum because he doesn't agree with you.
Pyrovisionary Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Sorry, I'll turn role-play off. What I'm trying to say is, Mencot's already drawn attention to himself. jimmynick Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 It doesn't get anywhere without accusations, but it also doesn't get anywhere with pointless accusations. As in: Saying someone is scum because he doesn't agree with you. But it isn't pointless to call people out for denying the very possibility of a miller. The possibility of a miller in this game is not an opinion, it is a fact.
Yzalirk Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, I say we should lynch someone who likes to point the finger or the most talkative person. Just my opinion though since they could be trying to draw attention away.
Xenophobic Monoxide Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, I say we should lynch someone who likes to point the finger or the most talkative person. Just my opinion though since they could be trying to draw attention away. Wouldn't the most talkative person be drawing attention though?
Lady K Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 But it isn't pointless to call people out for denying the very possibility of a miller. The possibility of a miller in this game is not an opinion, it is a fact. It is very possible that we have a miller, but it is also possible that he is lying to hide the fact he could be scum trying to hide in the town. For now I believe his miller claim, but I will keep any eye on him.
Pyrovisionary Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, I say we should lynch someone who likes to point the finger or the most talkative person. Just my opinion though since they could be trying to draw attention away. Well that's a motivation for us all to shut up isn't it? I agree that people who point the finger are more likely to be Scum, but so are those keeping very quiet. Anyway I think Panda said it but we should Lynch the person who we think is acting most against the collective town. Wouldn't the most talkative person be drawing attention though? Let's not overthink this. Because then we get into bluffs double bluffs etc and it becomes meaningless speculation.
Lady K Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, I say we should lynch someone who likes to point the finger or the most talkative person. Just my opinion though since they could be trying to draw attention away. At least the talkative ones are playing. I'm not suggesting that the quiet ones are scum, because that has backfired on me before, but scum do like to hide quietly and lead the town to lynching town.
Yzalirk Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, they could be using reverse psychology.
Lady K Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, they could be using reverse psychology. Ok, I'm confused now. Who is using reverse psychology on who?
Yzalirk Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I may be a bit paranoid but there could be someone cunning enough to try it. I've also been playing Destiny , that's why I haven't been posting a whole lot.
Pyrovisionary Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Ok, I'm confused now. Who is using reverse psychology on who? That would be Schrodinger's cat. Like I said, let's not overthink this and Lynch the man using witchcraft. Let's lynch the people acting against town.
Cutcobra Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Xenophobic, I say we should lynch someone who likes to point the finger or the most talkative person. Just my opinion though since they could be trying to draw attention away. What does "being the most talkative" have to do with anything? How do you want us to find any scum if we don't point out our suspicions? But it isn't pointless to call people out for denying the very possibility of a miller. The possibility of a miller in this game is not an opinion, it is a fact. By that logic, the possibilty of any of the roles in that list could be in a game. I'm not denying it, but I am seriously doubting having one in a simple Mafia School Game.
Yzalirk Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Pyrovision, I can second that since this is only day one.
Pyrovisionary Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I may be a bit paranoid but there could be someone cunning enough to try it. I've also been playing Destiny , that's why I haven't been posting a whole lot. Level console class everything. I'm a level 15 Warlock, I play too much Crucible and overuse melee. After all, it is a Bungie game. Offtopic much? Well yes but it's mafia so...
