But I'm general, your kind of post about 3D printing is fine. You're not promoting a 3rd party brand. You're not selling a product. You're just looking to have a discussion about an element to add to your Lego model. It would be good if we had a discussion about new types of parts proposed and prototyped by the community in a separate thread as such cool stuff here will be lost between more general questions. But if the thread is not a pinned one with definition of what should get in, it'll be lost quickly in depths of further pages.

And remember more or less every new piece LEGO develops starts as a 3D printed part, you can even see them sometimes on pre-release photos like Bolide micro panels

If we focus just on 3D printing, those without access to a printer won't participate. But they could also use studio part designer for combing parts together and bring more ideas into the discussion this way. Also it would be good to separate the 3D printing of highly specialized custom parts like the axle frames that @efferman has designed and focus on more universal parts that could be reused in different scenarios in such discussion. Noteworthy is that some of custom 3d-printed prototype parts could (and will) end up in models designed for CADA, and if they are useful, hopefully Lego may follow in their models at some point, similarly to how it went with flip-flop liftarms.

I see a dedicated 3D printing thread more as an opportunity for people without a 3d printer to find someone that could design and print pieces for them. I have seen our TF-Engineering WheelHubs around here a couple of times, but a space to give updates on new designs without opening a thread for each of them would be beneficial. Edited October 19, 20231 yr by Bensch55

This thread is about existing parts made by Lego, either still manufactured or not, if I'm not wrong here, and people asking about parts that would be useful in specific cases and so on. What I described is about parts that we, as community, could design/define requirements and potentially 3D print, to maybe show interest in specific types of parts to Lego (and CADA).

Basically to make hybrid connectors by using the bars to hold pins or to hold axleholes, you could of course do it with the crosshole version of this part but the crosshole wasn't as useful. Also this could be used as a small wheel hub steered or unsteered. Edited October 25, 20231 yr by SNIPE

October 31, 20231 yr pin block with 2 pins comes in black in the 10327 Dune Ornithopter in this set we also get part  80910  for the fist time in a technic set and we also get the 1x6x1B slopes ( 4569 ) that came in the concorde, but in dark bluish gray. and in the lego pot plants set we get Wheel 41 x 15 in Dark Orange (6462460 | 68327) Edited October 31, 20231 yr by SNIPE

November 2, 20231 yr @gyenesvi It was a bit longer than expected, but I updated my Technic 2023 H2 parts pack for Studio to include missing parts from the 42160 Audi set as well as the Mars rover wheel. As usual, the pack is available here: https://philohome.com/studio/packs.htm

November 2, 20231 yr Thanks again @Philo. These part parts have helped me out more than once. I appreciate the time you put into them.
November 2, 20231 yr Thank you very much I was waiting those wheels for my loader. I tried to export the wheel and does not work but the others pieces have not problem, anybody else?. Finally it worked, everything is ok. Edited November 2, 20231 yr by jorgeopesi
November 11, 20231 yr Anyone else encountered a compatibility issue with the new 12 and 20 tooth straight gears? While making the gearbox for my 4x4 Universal off-roader V2, I noticed this issue in LDD: Tested it with real life bricks and basically the new, straight 20 tooth clutch gear can actually touch the 8 tooth gear, especially if there's a load pushing it towards it. Same applies to a normal 20 tooth bevel gear and an 8 tooth gear, even when supported by beams on both ends, they can touch if pushed towards each other. Interestingly, there is no such issue with 16 and 12 tooth normal straight gears. BUT a 16 clutch gear and 12 straight gear can also touch, clutch gears generally seem to have longer teeth/larger diameter. For the application above, I decided to stick to bevel version, since a straight version could literally push the 8 tooth gear and therbye push itself out of gear or cause grinding. What is your opinion on this? I think LEGO messed up and that they should slightly reduce the teeth size as they did with 24 tooth gears. Edited November 11, 20231 yr by Zerobricks
