This has probably been mentioned here before, but just yesterday I noticed a mold variation in my part #24116 - specifically, the one on the right has a neck support at the top pin hole and the line pattern on the back side is different. It also has more of a matte finish.

I looked on the forum but couldn't find anything about it, so I'm wondering when this change was made. The only indication of a variation I see is the number at the top left corner (24116 vs 35396), which is indicated on Bricklink as an alternate item number.

Personally I would like to see a new variation of this panel or similar that could work as a seat, where the attachment is on the underside of the short side as seen on the image, technically on the outside of the panel surface, alternatively just a "studless" version of the old Technic figure seat in a similar mould, cos I don't think the current solution with the above panel looks that good.

Can someone tell us if the new suspension arm used in McLaren P1, can be used on 6L (connected to chassis in the pinhole before the normal one with the big shock absorber ?

I can only narrow it down to 'during my dark ages', every set I own has the reinforced one, but 42098 (2019) is the oldest set I have that contains the part.

I've recently found 2 faulty planetary hubs in my collection. When I'm turning them I can feel each gear engaging, almost like there's something inside the gears. But on the outside they both look near new, maybe used a few times. Whats more interesting, is that one has "38X1" printed on it, and the other has "01X2" printed, so they arent the same batch or anything like that. I've emailed Lego about it so I should receive replacements, but I was wondering if anybody knows a way to fix this, or knows whats wrong with them?

Edit: I just found another 2, but its much more subtle on these ones. The printed number is "38X1" on both, one is nearly unnoticeable and the other is somewhere in between.

have you been using them outdoors? could be sand stuck inside the hubs

I have used them outdoors, but I dont think I ever took any vehicles with planetary hubs in sand. It totally could be that though. I'm going to put them through the washing machine and I will update this if they get better.

Bad idea to wash something with friction reducing grease inside if you don't completely disassemble and regrease it.

Has anyone had experience with part "Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Hub with 3L Axle" (part 5713)? It came on the new City excavator 60420 set.

I have a situation where I need part 15100 but without friction as the pin end needs to be able to rotate freely. If I use 22961 it would just slide out. Looks like part 5713 is what I need, as it extends the axle so I could secure it with a bush.

I looked at reviews of the 60420 set but didn't see any mentions of the new part. I'm guessing it's functionally similar as 22961 except with a longer axle, but I see them being used as hydraulic elements in the excavator, so just want to make sure that the axle still has plenty of clutch power to be able to hold a bush securely.

I have 4 of these parts yes however they may pull out, it has the same clutch power as a standard axle

You can get more clutch power by using 2 half bushes or 2 thin 1x2 beams

You do know that the newer mould of the pinhole with pin 1L has less friction than the older mould right?

You could use the small linear actuator as long as it doesn't have too much load on it so that it starts actuating rather than just spinning in place.

I posted more about it here, but looks like if they have the same clutch power as a standard axle it should work in my case.

Looks like a lot of parts with this newer softer plastic has less friction. However my situation requires a non-friction pin or axle connection, as the mechanism could easily jam with a friction pin, even one with less friction.

Not with a stop axle. But it works with a normal axle

Sorry if this is common knowledge but it was something of a eureka moment for me when I discovered it.

11272 has small cutouts on the center which allow a 24T gear to sit in between when 5M apart. This is similar to the spacing with 6536.

AFAIK, this is the only Technic axle connector where this tolerance exists in the middle of the element, all of the other places I've seen it are at the ends.

In my case, this came in very useful while building worm gear drives for my new micro tank MOC.

If you find it usefull, 24 tooth gears from 2018 are slightly smaller, so you don't need for example slots in frames like in frame 5 x 7

You're wellcome; I have found out that by accident (I have miscalcullated studs and red differential that I bought in 2017 was rubbing on frame and dark bluish gray ordinary 24 tooth gear that I bought in 2019 didn't. Last year I boughtbone red differential (year 2020) and it didn't rub on frame where is no slot...so I remembered Chiron instructions discussion about it and test it...

...if you need one more old 40 tooth gears (black and red) work more smooth with 24 gears than new light bluish gray

I think I've done that before--was that just from 2018 on, or was it a one-off design before going back to a larger one?

I have several dark bluish 24 tooth gear and one red differential 4L that I bought after 2018 that have same slight smaller teeth

Wow, that is really interesting! I have a hard time imagining what I'd use that for, but it's really neat!
(Also quite a clever MOC with the torque wrench. I was impressed by the click mechanism for it, and thought, "if only it ratcheted, but I guess he couldn't fit that in such a small space." To my amazement, though, it did have a ratcheting mechanism after all!)
