Wow! Thanks so much for the feedback, y’all. My mind was pretty blown when the life preserver fit so perfectly on the worm gear. It still is!

Speaking of the discussion on gear clearance earlier, I have a setup where an 8T gear sits just one stud below axle connector part 32039. Looks like the gear does clear it (it's a similar design to Technic bushes after all), but not sure if the perpendicular side will cause any issues. Can anyone confirm if my setup is indeed a "legal" assembly? Thanks!

I don't have the exact parts in front of me but IIRC the old 8T gear without reinforcement goes into a technic hole just a bit. If you use the newer style 8T with reinforced edges, I'm about 99% sure it fits in your situation.

I just tested this with both types of 8z gear and can confirm that there's enough clearance for this solution in all possible configurations I can think of.

It is used in official sets, I thought it's an obvious possibility, but maybe I misunderstand something.

You dared to disassemble a display only set? What were you thinking? You are supposed to keep it on the shelf and let it collect dust. Nothing more. ;)

I don't remember which model it was, but I had the same issue while disassembling the same part that went into the 5L suspension arm. I think that hub part is the problem.

I had the same issue with this 3-ball connector as well. It seems to be a little weaker than other pieces with ball connection.

How long are these steering arms? assuming 6L, im saving up for a bricklink order with these included but would like to experiment and see how far they would stick out. I'm trying to fit a torsen diff in a 21 stud wide suspension set up, and it looks like it will be quite a squeeze. Thanks.

They could only work in a torsion bar suspension, as there are no shock absorber mounting points.

I would only use them for lower control arms, and with a custom hub with the suspension mounted somewhere to the side of the cv joint

Some interesting part recolors coming in October in non-technic sets (according to newelementary.com):

13 x 2 x 5 fender flare in dark blue

pin connector in green (in a botanical set)

links in orange, yellow and green (in a Supermario set).

3x3 T-beam in bright light orange (hidden inside the oldschool batmobile, probably coming from that huge 1:1 P1 promo build).

 

The sheer number of recolors of plates, tiles, wedges, etc in a single month (listed in newelementary.com) is just amazing. It seems that recoloring is not really an issue for TLG. Yet, some basic connectors are rarely recolored for a new technic set, like the above pin connector in reddish orange for the Mercedes G-class..

I was actually thinking the other day that it would be nice to have that part in green for something I’d potentially like to make. So I’m glad to see it! 
I think it’s also interesting/annoying that in the case of the reddish orange version for the G-class, it’s so obvious that it should be reddish orange but isn’t. The P1 has 3-4 parts that should’ve been LBO but wasn’t. But looking at photos of that botanical set you hardly see the green pin connectors. Almost like when you could get away without recoloring it they do, and when you can’t they don’t…

That's what I thought too, couldn't even easily see the green connectors in the botanical set.. At the same time 42157 was missing that pin connector in green, it wasn't recolored for that one..

I believe that whole recolour quota for Technic was taken by 42154 then

Let's first start with the basic 2L inline axle joiner in blue, and the basic x-o-x 3L perpendicular connector in blue. Two of the most basic Technic parts are currently not available in one of the 5 original Lego colors...

 

(Yes, the 3L connector exists in blue, but it's super rare)
