Didn’t LEGO switch the plastic for their transparent pieces not too long ago? I think they now share the same properties (I believe it’s a new variety of ABS plastic). Quote

Nearly all 1x1 round plates from older sets are with a cracked bottom ring in my collection... Quote
msk6003 Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 About trans clear parts, I don't know why TLG don't make trans clear 5x11 and 3x11 and 3x7 panel. Quote

Not sure if you'd even like the look if they did. Just look how murky 24116 turned out in trans-clear... https://rebrickable.com/parts/24116/technic-panel-curved-and-bent-6-x-3/47/ Quote
shroomzofdoom Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) Interesting article on the topic of trans clear brick composition: https://bricknerd.com/home/a-clear-path-forward-for-transparent-bricks-1-21-22 "Perhaps we’ll enter a golden age of transparency! The switch to MABS for clear elements can almost be treated like the introduction of a new color..." 9 hours ago, astyanax said: inexplicable and useless love for transparent liftarms When I was a kid, I'd collect all the transparent parts and build things with only them. Void_S Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Some news from "42147 Dump Truck" thread: 15 minutes ago, Polarlicht said: Here is the new connector It has a slight difference from the 4-pin connector - notice the raised ring around the pinhole in the middle. The "original" 4-pin connector was a bit thicker, exactly 1L-high, while this one was made of a regular beam, that is recessed a little, 0.9L-high. Quote
howitzer Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 New connectors are always nice, and I guess this new one had to be made as it was in order to function as a steering arm, but I wish it had axles instead of pins, as I feel it would be more useful that way. Quote
Bricktrain Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 I wonder if this piece is used in the Lr13000 boom, it has possibilities for those sorts of uses. Quote
howitzer Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I don't recall any discussions about the PU light element which is included in the new Lighthouse set and Passenger train set: https://rebrickable.com/parts/22168/light-unit-led-with-cable-powered-up/ Anyone know how long the cables are for that element? The lighthouse also has another element of interest: the fresnel lens, which would probably make for a great headlight part of car models, especially coupled with the aforementioned light element. I think that Fresnel lens might not work that well in a car, but a similar one would. Also, I can't understand why Technic doesn't include lights in official models aside from the 2 especially rare example (8297 and 41999) Quote

Anyway, I also hope that the lights get included in future Technic sets, as it's indeed baffling that lights have been so few and far between in Technic sets, even if they would enhance some sets enormously. You could also ask how come we never see any 4-wheel steering (except for 8880), though I'm sure they have their reasons. AFOLs are NOT the main target audience for many of those sets. Quote

Takanuinuva Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Man I wish there was a 1x1 version of the click hinge plates. Especially with rounded ends. So a combination of this https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=26047#T=C And this https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=44301b#T=C As a moc I'm making would really benefit from it. I'd also take a variant of this where the bar connections are replaced with alternating click hinge sockets and pins https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=75937&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 Quote

SNIPE Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) That fresnel lens piece would indeed look awesome if used as headlight If it was redone in say, red, it would function as like a 2x3x2/3 double slope Edited January 3, 2023 by SNIPE Quote
