I need to pivot an axle between two beams, like in a steering assembly. This part would do the trick if it was only 2 studs instead of 3:

I might try Victor's suggestion of clamping it between half-beams instead of regular beams, but other suggestions are welcome :classic:

Hi, I'm away from my LEGO, and I'm building something in LDD right now. I was wondering if someone could tell me the length of an L Motor's wire?

I believe all the motors come with cables of same length. The m-motor's one is 20 cm long

Edit: Oops, too late

These shock absorbers are blowin' my mind. Are they really supposed to click when fully compressed, then rebound with a different amount of travel? I've been sitting here for about a minute toggling between the two lengths, twisting the adjustment collar, wondering if I'm going to need an external assembly to stop them from "bottoming out". That is not a very good function - everytime my outdoor challenger jumps that shock becomes fully compressed and I must stop the car :(

Heh, thanks folks. That does seem like a function that looks good on paper, but seems to be quite frustrating in practice. I already considered dismantling one to see if I could disable the function inside the grey mystery thing at the top, but I may end up following nicjasno's suggestion.

Not sure what you are talking about. I have several of these and there is no "click" function. They simply have two spring preload values. You can toggle between the two by twisting the ring. Have I missed something all these years?

When I fully compress the spring, something engages at the top of the stanchion which makes it rebound at a different length. The position of the ring appears to have no ability to prevent it from happening. Maybe I have a dud?

Maybe I have a dud?

The mechanism is the same as in a click pen.

Yah, I got a second 8420 in the post this morning, and the shock does the same thing as the one I already had, not that I doubted you lovely people.

Ugh, what a useless difficult feature to integrate.

I just noticed this part in lego digital designer.

Could the small ends possibly fit into a pin hole?

If so this could be a really useful part as an inverted one of these:

Except the small ends are only half a pin long so you can stack them together to create complex connections such as this:

Another good part for having different height steering arms and for using as engine conrods:
