They made special black and red 7L axles just for the 8653 Enzo, so if they really wanted to, they could have easily made an 8L red one for thhe 8145 set.. Personally, I think the black looks better.. Same in the 8070 and the Porsche..

you might be correct that it was a designer choice...they also had 10L an 12L in Red for that set.

i got my info wrong....76046 has a 10L axle in Red: http://www.bricklink...&colorID=5&in=A

the 8L in Red is in these sets: http://www.bricklink...&colorID=5&in=A

there is also a 9L axle in Yellow: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=60485&colorID=3&in=A

YES!...more great news for parts gathers like me who are trying to build old sets using new parts. if you look at 42053 you will notice part # 2743 in Black.

http://constructors..../42053_prod.jpg

that part has not been seen since 2000 and is used in 8462: http://www.bricklink...colorID=11&in=A

I find it weird how they are bring decade old parts into new Lego. I have no problems with it, I just find it odd.

i am very happy these old parts are coming back, they have seem to be bringing back alot of older molds or parts in old colours not seen in many years.

i am trying to rebuild 8462 from as many new parts as possible, so these moves by TLG are most welcome :-)

After going to my local hobby shop I found some Traxxas U-Joint sets and I bought them as a experiment to use them with Lego, and it worked!

All I had to do was shave down a 3L axle and drill a hole through it and presto! I super strong U-Joint for lego use.

In the second picture I found out you could put the new style 8T gear on it and it could be used as an adapter for use with the 8880 wheel hubs.

I did see that but I am still wondering since I never see anyone using those wheels with other tires.

I have a question,

Do the wheels on the famous 8880 set fit Unimog of 9398's tires?

I tried the Unimog tires on 8880 wheels, and they do fit together. The wheels are a bit narrower than the ordinary wheels used for the Unimog tires, so the sidewalls are a bit tilted in towards the wheel (about 1.5 mm on each side).

The slippage of the tire on the rim isn't any greater than what normal Lego wheels and tires have.

Looks like it was already back in 2014. Nice to see this part make its comeback.

Possibly fake?

legit...lego stamped, legit lego guy.

i also discovered that the Red flex hoses used in those fake Chinese sets ARE different, the legit parts are actually stamped...but you need a magnifiy glass to see it, and the fake had a couple of mold holes that are not present on the legit part.

and those new axles are becoming more common now....i bought 2 of them just because i like having at least one of everything Technic axle...even if i have no use for it:
