It actually appears in two sets: 8295 (B model) and 8264 (A and B models). Funnily enough, both sets were designed by Alfred Pedersen.

Would indeed be very useful. you can't always just 'leave a pinhole open' because it can still get in the way, so having one pinhole less is a necessity.

I think those tires are in the RTC. Lego part number 4246901.

I have a bin full of those. Can't figure out how to use them. I'd love to see creative uses for this part so i could actually utilize them.. 
I originally bought a bunch of them because they were cheap.

Use them for creating 90 degree angles. If you're building a big box, these would be really useful

Does someone know what are the differences between the type 1 and type 2 ?

Type 1 :  Type 2 : 

Type 2 exist only in two sets, and aren't used with driving ring,
And I can't seem to see any visible differences.

Finally. That part was a long-standing omission in part availability.

But it's funny how often we see new Technic recolors first appear in non-Technic sets.

• Lime cross block 3L in another Speed Champions Porsche, in exactly the same configuration as this white one
• White inline axle joiner 2L in the latest Modular Building
• Yellow angle connector #2 in Emmet's Tricycle

@Erik Leppen, I think it's due to a purpose of the parts: in the Technic series they are mostly just structural elements and it doesn't really care if they are in a neutral color like black or gray shades, the model's color is claimed by the panel elements meanwhile. For the Systems (I still use this name for brick+plate sets) these parts are structural + visual elements in the same time and it seems that TLG had no choice to color them properly as they are integral parts of the sets. Imagine that green or white Porche 911 with LBG connectors

I wonder if the largest medium blue spike prime technic frames come with the 42100 too.

and if the bugatti disk bakes are compatible with the new hubs.

20T DBG = 1.4:1

12T DBG at right angle = 2.33:1

 8T spur offset =3.5:1
