1gor Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Just now, Jeroen Ottens said: For 5 holes you'd need more than 2 knobwheels in the same plane. In my experience that doesn't work. The friction @Erik Leppen mentions completely blocks the drivetrain from time to time. I never properly tested the slack, but I always had the feeling that knobgears have less slack than normal gears (that's maybe also why they have more friction ) I know that I need more than 2 knob wheels; but I was thinking at first place as comparison...my problem is that I have very very limited space and only one train battery box...so I think to place servo somewhere else and put battery box over L-motors...I have a feeling that I'm running in circles... BusterHaus Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 @I_Igor Regardless of the gear type selection, you will need 3 gears to have the servo output aligned with the steering shaft. This will create slack, no matter the option. In my experience the only way to avoid this is to have direct steering. Quote

Indeed but we all know that we will use it as a trailer hitch :) Also those 1x4L tiles can be used on tank tracks, as see in the LEGO nintendo NES + TV set. Edited August 5, 2020 by SNIPE Quote

What about a 16T gear on the servo, 16T on the steering shaft and put a chain around them. Quote

Actually I made solution with universal joints, but since rear part of real thing is slightly raised I plan to install rear axle one stud lower which should give me enough space...but due to all complications and tough and painful things hoped up I can only hope to find hour or two without distractions to test this idea. Problem with chain is that it actually rubs on beams because it does not fit within one stud width (OK I have old chains from 1970s so perhaps with new it could work...) Thanks for help Mr Jos (the Boss) Quote

mahjqa Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Most of the parts of the 42113 Osprey are now available on Bricks & Pieces. Sadly, the rotor blades aren't available yet. Quote

SNIPE Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Wew I just realized something when building the 42114, you can fit the white linear clutch inside of the black half of a mini turntable Now you have a 28 tooth bevel/spur gear with a built in linear clutch. The white half meshes with the turntable while the DBG half can rotate independantly if theres too much load, otherwise it rotates with the white half, And the turntable and clutch seperate with no damage. Note that it only wants to go in a certain direction, the opposite way just pops out. It's almost like they were made for each other. Ill upload the photos and video when my computers start working Quote

RussianGuy Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Did anyone manage to order and then receive 42113-specific parts from B&P? Now they are not visible on the site. I also received a refund to my card which I used to order them on 16th of August (but no email about my order being cancelled, so maybe they are going to charge me again later) Quote
keymaker Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 I have question for owners of part 6539 and 18947 (driving rings). Is 6539 slightly narrower in diameter than 18947? Because I am building live axle with diff lock and 18947 touches diff case ;/ Quote

TechnicRCRacer Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 @keymaker6539 is actually larger in diameter than 18947. Quote

I'm recreating this solution: And somehow 6539 is ok in this build (I assume, I do not have it). But 18947 touches diff case (not much, but still). I know that 6539 is shorter - 2 studs but I do not see how it fits there. Edited September 1, 2020 by keymaker Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I just got my first couple new 28T differentials. I was quite excited about them, and planned to use one in the rear axle of a truck I am working on. It has a solid rear axle, so width isn't a problem. I had been planning on using the integrated part of the differential with a driving ring for locking, and driving the differential perpendicularly with a 12T gear, but I can't come up with anything that can take high torque without skipping between the 12 and 28T gears. Does anyone have any suggestions? If not, I may just relocate the differential into the frame and run the half-shafts down to the axle, which would allow for easier differential locking. Thanks!
