Robert8 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 The LEGO Movie 2 will hit theaters in 2018: http://herocomplex.latimes.com/movies/warner-bros-announces-lego-batman-ninjago-lego-movie-2/#/0 Quote
rodiziorobs Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I welcome a Batman-centric movie, but like others, I am a little worried it might be Bat-overkill. I would love to see some more spin-offs, but think most supporting characters would not be able to carry their own film--heck, I don't even think Emmet would be strong enough as a character for a second round. Where would the story go with him? I would, however, love to see a cartoon series based around Metalbeard with a lot of Unikitty, and believe that would be the perfect format. Bring in the other characters here and there but feature those two, in twenty minute episodes: animated gold. Quote

Robert8 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Where did you hear this? That would be awesome. It's true: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/lego-movie-directors-returning-write-743971?facebook_20141025 Quote
just2good Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 It's true: http://www.hollywood...cebook_20141025 That's only for writing, whether or not they'll direct it is still a mystery. Quote
Divine Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Personally I believe batman is overrated. We have just had so many batman films and such. Never could be worth it. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Zach Galifianakis in Talks to Voice Joker in The LEGO Batman Movie. Interesting choice... So no Mark hamill in this movie. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 It seems this movie will be the n-version of Batman origins just in LEGO form I was expecting something more original than that. Quote

Ashnflash Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Zach Galifianakis in Talks to Voice Joker in The LEGO Batman Movie. Interesting choice... So no Mark hamill in this movie. I didn't know who that was and I looked him up and I began to cry both inside and out... Quote
EdWebhead Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) It's...interesting. I was crossing my fingers for Mark Hamill, but I should have known it was unlikely. I hope this isn't a disaster, maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise. Edited August 13, 2015 by EZNetwork Quote
Ashnflash Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 It's...interesting to say the least. I was crossing my fingers for Mark Hamill, but I should have known it was unlikely. I hope this isn't a disaster, maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise. He's from the fricking Hangover movies why is he in this!?!?!?!? Quote
Ashnflash Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) Oh also its confirmed now... I'm interested to see who will be playing Alfred... Edited August 13, 2015 by Ashnflash Quote
K-Nut Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 He's from the fricking Hangover movies why is he in this!?!?!?!? Will Ferrell was from the Anchorman movies and has done his fair share of R-Rated work. How is this any different? Besides, Batman is Gob Bluth from Arrested Development... I think it's a great choice. The movie's going to be a comedic take on Batman, so it works. As much as I love Hamill's take on Joker, it probably wouldn't work in this film. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) How is this any different? The difference is that Gob Bluth is funny. Edited August 14, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
K-Nut Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 The difference is that Gob Bluth is funny. Really? That's a little harsh, isn't it? Galifianakis has done some bad work, and he's done some good work. Same goes for Will Arnett. I thought Galifianakis was funny as a voice over for Humpty Dumpty in Puss In Boots, and does anyone remember Will Arnett in the Nut Job? Quote
Ashnflash Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Now I was thinking... *SPOILERS IF U HAVEN'T SEEN THE LEGO MOVIE* (If you haven't though you don't deserve to be on this website then...) Since everything that happened in the LEGO Movie was inspired by Flynn's adventures in his Dad's basement. Will this new LEGO Batman movie take place like in someone's replica of they're own Gotham City? And now knowing that the stories are actually based off what the kids do then will they constantly be flashing back and forth... (Hope not) Anyways just a thought! Quote

Will this new LEGO Batman movie take place like in someone's replica of they're own Gotham City? And now knowing that the stories are actually based off what the kids do then will they constantly be flashing back and forth... (Hope not) Anyways just a thought! Even though it's established that the LEGO Movie's universe represents the "play world" of Finn and his father, I think only the actual LEGO Movie series (not the spin-offs) will make the "real life" side of things an actual part of the plot. The LEGO Batman Movie may also be a story told by Finn, but that doesn't mean Finn is a character in it. Suppose you're writing a story that takes place during the American Prohibition era. Having prohibition laws in the story doesn't mean you have to also include the people who wrote those laws unless the story is actually about them. Even though they had a hand in setting up the events of the story, that doesn't automatically make it their story. Quote
Dorayaki Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm fine with both canons. The Direct-to-DVD series are defnitely not based on Finn's imagination, so both cases are possible. If LEGO decide to go with the TLM-Batman version, it could be that the whole LEGO plot would try to make fun of the classic Batman plot with funny Superheroes. Although Wyldstyle is with Batman in the Dimensions' starter set, I don't see that Batman is the TLM version for sure. I assume that Dimensions would merge two canons into one. Quote
