Where did you get Western Train Chase 1/2 off? Target? There's some at one Target but all full price...

About one week ago, I went to San Mateo LEGO store and there was one Battle of Alamut left in the sale section. But I'm assuming that since then, it be gone by now. My first time (New Years Day) had about 4-5. Best of luck.

Hoping to find Atlantis Gateway of the Squid or the Ninjago Turbo Shredder for half off...

Plenty of the Gateway of the Squid for 50% off at the Target in Fremont in the Fremont Hub shopping center, also in San Leandro at the Bayfair Target.

I found the Western Train Chase at the Hayward Target, off of Hesperian. It was the last one. This was the same Target I found the best deals at although all the sets are pretty well gone by now. Airport for 30% off, Battle of Endor for 15% off, and my beloved Battle of Alamut for 50% off just to name a few. The night I saw all these sets I had no extra cash. When I went back a few days later all I could find was the Train Chase set, so I bought it. Never did see that set on clearance anywhere else.

Markdowns on clearance items happen sometime mid-week, most are at 50% to 75% off right now. I found a $150 tent I was looking at for 75% off along the way, that was a nice find too.

I live in the Bay with no car... bought the Gateway of the Squid today for 29.99... but it's not open. I don't think I'd be going to the Alameda area for it, but part of me wants to return it. My target only had two sales, 16 bucks off (29.99) for Gateway of the Squid, and 15 bucks off(99.99) for the Portal of Atlantis...

Ugh, I wish Target sales were state-wide.

Should I return the Gateway? I wish it was on the S@H for VIP rewards, but I love that Chutlu minifig...

Here is a question. What do you think the value of the 8099 Star Wars Star Destroyer set will be in 6 month's time? It is at $16 now and I bought 5 of them but wonder if it will be worth anything more in the past. Still shoot myself for not buying a Falcon when they were 399....

Ebay has them all over the place from 20-30.....will we ever see 50 to 100 in the long term for these?

Well my quest is over, for now anyway. Over the last 3 weeks I have gone to 13 different Target stores in Northern California. I was on a mission to find the Battle of Alamut for 50% off. I found one, but didn't have the money so I put it back. Went back to the same store just a few days later and it was gone. Never have found it for a discount again, only full price. For some reason I'm not interested in it at full price.

I thought I might have bought your Battle of Alamut, but now I see yours was at the Hayward store. I got one a while back at the San Jose Target on Curtner and Monterey. That was the only one I had seen during my Target-hunting travels, and grabbed it right away. That was an amazing deal! =)

You might still be able to find it for $19.98 at certain Targets, but you might not. The Target in Hayward off of Industrial had about twenty at one point, but I don't know if any are left. $29.99 is still a decent price though. The squid man is very cool.

Yeah, I do like the squid man, I guess 10 extra bucks isn't too bad. It's still cheaper than originally advertised. Not opening it till my classes are finalized, need to pinch dollars if I get no classes...

It doesn't seem like it would ever see a serious increase in price, as it has no really rare parts and no minifigs. But I haven't been building Lego for long, and I might not have a full grasp on what makes certain sets become valuable.

In 6 months? It will still be selling for $20 on ebay in 6 months. Give it 3 years and you will see $50-$60 for it.

After leaving an Alamut at the Santa Clara lego store on Boxing day I've been regretting it ever since.

But tonight I found one at Walmart! I know it wasn't on the shelves last week. It was not in the clearance section. It was in the general toys area but not with the lego (puzzles actually :P) The shelf tag said that it was special price Jan 25-Feb 3. I bought it.

Good luck finding one at a Walmart further up the penninsular.

Edit: It's box was pretty beaten up but it was $39.50

Nice find. Still looking but no luck for me. I have found a few at full price, but not willing to bite till I see the price start with a 3.

I did notice the City House getting marked down for clearance, only 15% off right now at Target.

The City Corner for $15 just might have been a pricing gaff by Target. I noticed the other day a fully stocked shelf of the City Corner sets and a corrected price tag on the shelf. So if you were lucky enough to get one at $15, you really did get lucky.

Thanks. I bought two of them.

Went to the LEGO store at MoA in Minneapolis / St Paul yesterday to pick up a Fire Brigade. They had the Winter Village Bakery marked down to $38.48 now so I picked one up.

Anyone in the SF bay area, Mountain View target - off Showers - has Ostrich Race marked down to $5.04. There were over 10 there today when I left, in the far back corner in toys on the back endcap. Thanks to someone of a different forum for telling me this.

I just wanted to mention that I stopped into my local Borders and found that they have a huge stock of new sets. All of the Police, Pharoah's Quest, Ninjago, and Star Wars lines were there (besides store exclusives, of course). I suspect that this might reflect most Borders stores since they tend to carry similar items, so be on the lookout for some of those 33, 40, and 50 percent off coupons and you may be able to get yourself a good deal. The set are priced a bit above LEGO's prices, but with a coupon you will still be able to save money.

Here you go: a 40% off one item coupon!

The TRU in Madison WI is selling sets 8964 (Titanium Command Rig) and 7642 (Garage) for 69.99 each (used to be 100 each) but the sale only lasts until Monday the 14th.

There are some other sales on SW but not spectacular

Borders is closing about 30% of its US stores in the next coming weeks. So, if you have one on the closing list near you that has LEGO, you might find some deals. Your mileage will vary.

Do you really think there will be sales, though? I'd imagine that in a big chain like Borders they'd just move the stores' inventory to a warehouse and use it for online sales.

I had a store near me close right around Christmas. They seem to put everything in the store on sale, even the shelving. That store never had a lot of LEGO, so there wasn't much by the time I got to looking into it, but there were sets. I have another one near me that is closing. I called them today and was told that they won't be getting in any new material and that their last batch of send back material was being returned to the store. They indicated that none of their stock was being sent out, it is all going to be sold. They will start clearance on Saturday. As time progresses the percentage discount will increase, though the selection will obviously decline. If it is like the other store that closed a few months ago, they should still honor coupons, but they won't stack with the clearance. If you are a member of the higher level borders rewards, the 10% discount should stack with the clearance. The store near me took a month to really start moving product, for whatever that is worth. I'm going to check out the one near me this Saturday to grab a few things.

Monona Wisconsin Wall-Mart has the build a Zurg set for $12

It might not be the best buy, but there are a LOT of them if someone wants to do a purple themed moonbase or something.
