Pellaeon Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 My local Borders has gotten a bunch of the summer Lego sets in stock, and they've got a 33% off coupon this weekend. They've actually had a 33% off coupon ever week for the last month or two; they're only for Borders club card members, but it's free to sign up. However, they have started jacking up the prices of the sets, usually about $5. Here's what I remember seeing: Plo Koon's Fighter - $30 Hoth Wampa Cave - $45 Grievous's Starfighter - $55 or $60 (don't recall) Palpatine's Shuttle - $70 Slave I - $95 (!!) A bunch of World Racer sets Atlantis Brickmaster book
BlueDragonZ Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Sears.ca Online: August 22-January 9 •LEGO City 7208 Fire Station $89.99 (reg.$109.99)
fred67 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 As has been pointed out in the Series 2 minifigure thread, they are now available on U.S. Shop@Home, but what is more interesting are the other things they listed (they aren't "available" yet, though)... The Winter Village Bakery has been there for some time, but they've added both the City and Kingdoms Advent Calendars, and all the new Harry Potter sets. There's probably more there that I'm not interested in, that's just what I found looking around. BTW, it seems too annoying to find the series 2, so here's a link.

FinalFeature Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 There's an art store called Swains in the Glendale, Ca area. They have the Republic Gunship marked down to $100. They had a few other sets on sale also including star wars and bionicle. Their will also be a 20% off discount later on in the week to save even more. LegoGalactus
Oky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 At last, Borders is offering a 40% off one item coupon again! Even with their recent mark-ups, this should be one of the best deals you'll get for a while.

Scorpio Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I got that, but I don't see toys online, just books. What am I missing? Or do I need to go in person? The 40% off is for in store only. I picked up Woody's Round up for $29.99 since it was at MSRP $49.99.
Oky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Yeah, you need to get off your lazy butt and actually go into the store unfortunately.
fred67 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Yeah, you need to get off your lazy butt and actually go into the store unfortunately. D'oh! I hit something in the road with my car (not my fault, but too long and boring to explain) and need new axles! So not only is money short (although 40% is too good to pass up), but I need to beg my wife to take me while my car is being fixed. Edit: hey, anybody who's been... the two most expensive sets I want that are out right now are the Slave 1 and Toy Story Western Train... anyone seen either of those two at Borders? Edit 2: Worked it out "Hey honey... let's go out to dinner... oh, and while we're out, let's stop by Borders!" Edited September 3, 2010 by fred67

I've seen those two set at one of my three nearby-ish Borders... the stock seems to vary a lot between stores, so you might want to call ahead. They've marked the Slave I up to $90, though 40% off $90 is still pretty good. Edited September 3, 2010 by Pellaeon
Oky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 hey, anybody who's been... the two most expensive sets I want that are out right now are the Slave 1 and Toy Story Western Train... anyone seen either of those two at Borders? Yeah, I was just there, and they had the Slave I. Don't think I saw the Train. But my local Borders is nuts! They have the Slave I at $95, Palpy's Shuttle at $75, Grievous Starfighter at $65, and Plo's Starfighter at $30! However, at 40% off, you still get it for a good price ($39 for GG's Starfighter for example). They also had some of the board games. The Harry Potter one was $40! That's a 33% mark-up! Didn't bother to check the others. Edit 2: Worked it out "Hey honey... let's go out to dinner... oh, and while we're out, let's stop by Borders!" Smooth.

I think this is universal for Borders and not store-specific. My local store has the same prices. I remember when I kept eying Woody's Round Up at the correct $50, and then I came in a few days later and it had a new price sticker of $62 covering the old one. This makes me worried that even with a 40% off coupon it will not bring down the price of the HP sets too much, provided that Borders gets them in. I think it is likely for Borders to get the HP sets though, it seems like they would.

Legoist Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 That's a steal... No, it's just untrue. Check the website, it's "Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off". So buy 2 copies of a set, and you get 25% discount on the total price.

Piranha Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 My Costco is carrying LEGO sets again, they had 3 sets, 2 Star Wars and 1 City - 8096 Emperor Palpatines Shuttle for $49.99 ($10 cheaper than LSAH) - 8088 ARC-170 Starfighter also for $49.99 ($10 cheaper than LSAH) - 7206 Fire Helicopter for $29.99 ($10 cheaper than LSAH) I didn't pick up any, even though $10 is a nice discount, I suspect they will go even lower after the Holidays
