BrickCurve Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) My first attempt at quicksand. One of the many travelers of Historica, Abdahl Darak nearly meets his death in a patch of quicksand near Barqa, but is saved by his son Tirander. I would like to claim UoP credits for minifig posing and extreme environments, Quicksand, (If this is extreme enough an environment for the credit). Edited October 13, 2014 by BrickCurve Quote
mccoyed Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Great idea for a MOC. Really well done effects too. Quote
Bregir Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Amusing little moc there! Keep up the good work! Quote
Sir Gareth Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Neat build! The border and quicksand effect are both impressive. Quote
robuko Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Ha ha nice. If the sand doesn't get you, the scorpions will. All you need are some rodents of unusual size! UoP +1 Quote
Kayne Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I'm not sure it's been done before in GoH, so way to start something new! +1 to the UoP Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Nice little vig, on the quicksand - as a matter of fact, I don't recall ever having seen that done in LEGOs before! +1 for the UoP credits! Quote
gedren_y Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 UoP DoH +1 I believe one other person did quicksand, but it may have been before the advent of the UoP DoH program. Quote
Jakorin Swiftsword Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Nice little scene! Nice effect as well. :) Quote
Venkefedo Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Nice vignette! Great depiction of quicksand! Ha ha nice. If the sand doesn't get you, the scorpions will. All you need are some rodents of unusual size! UoP +1 Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist. Quote
Jorrith Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Great idea and nicely done too! 1x1 wedges are perfect for this! Quote
SkaForHire Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Very cool! I am not sure if anyone else has tried this yet, but you did it very well! Quote
Scaevola Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Excellent technique, +1 UoP DoH for all claims Quote
Slegengr Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Very cool build, BrickCurve! The quicksand is done very nicely with the cheese slopes. Nice action in the scene as well, though reality would have it that it is difficult to be killed by quicksand due to the buoyancy of a human body on the denser sand/water mixture. Of course, GoH can be more interesting at times if science is not followed exactly, so I hope I have not taken away from this build with this comment. I also particularly like the border under this build. The only critique I have on it would be that it seems a bit tall for the small, flat vignette on top of it. Brick on, BrickCurve! Quote
Gideon Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Definitely an extreme environment! UoP +1 I agree however that the vignette probably would have been better balanced if it was slightly bigger. Quote
Garmadon Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Great idea and execution, the cheese slopes work well for the quicksand Cool fig posing as well! Quote
Adolfo Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Excellent idea and very well done! It's simple and charming. Congrats! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The fig posing looks very good and I like the quicksand Cool base too Quote
