October 15, 201410 yr Author Are the rear wheels rolling ok? The CV joint axle piece is held only by one stud hole... Funny, when I build, I discard such great ideas (if I got'em ofcourse :-)), because of prejudice, that this sure cannot work... They're rolling fine, very little wobbling. Only problem I'm having so far is the 2L axle connecting the gear to the CV joint is getting pulled out during rapid suspension compression/decompression. Working on a fix for that now
October 16, 201410 yr You don't have any problem running 2 M motors? I'm guessing you must be using a V1 not V2? I found L motors only worked on V2 on the same channel.

October 16, 201410 yr I have a very similar Macpherson strut setup. In mine, I use a #3 angle connected oriented vertically, so that one end is attached to lower control arm and other end has an axle for the spring.
October 16, 201410 yr Love the design! Independent trailing arms are great but I don't know if they would work on a large scale with multiple buggy motors. At this scale it looks like it'll go great :) What do you plan for the body? Panels/flex axles/tubular/studded?

Might try printing some decals to make it look more like a rally car

October 16, 201410 yr So many techniques used here that I love to use myself. The longitudinal differential with clutch and the CV joints as wheel mounts work so well. Glad to see you added the buggy motor. That rear set up is a space utilization work of art.
October 16, 201410 yr I also really like that rear end setup, but am skeptical that it can withstand the power of a buggy motor. Sudden direction changes will result in suspension movement. The 3l axle will retreat into the cv part and only engage half of the 12t db. This in addition to the bearing surface of 1 stud will allow the gears to come out of mesh. Trapping axles is also important. They tend to "walk" out when exposed to high rpm. You always seem to pull it off though, so I'll wait and see. I'm sure it will look great when it is done. v/r Andy
October 17, 201410 yr Author Spent a few hours working on the 7th rear axle design, and I'm still not satisfied. Rally WIP 5 by VKTechnic, on Flickr I've finally improved the suspension stiffness, but the RC motor stalls much too easily (even with the least amount of gearing possible). It probably has something to do with the receiver, so I may abandon the RC motor and switch to some L-Motors. Oh, and I started mocking up some of the bodywork.

October 25, 201410 yr Author Front end is pretty much done, rear end could still use some work... wip08 by VKTechnic, on Flickr I also did an off-road test,and this car doesn't perform too well on anything besides flat ground. Fixing that would require rebuilding the rear half of the car, and considering that the car runs fine on flat ground, I think I'll keep it the way it is. Maybe next time...
