Farmer Segir and his daughter Triafra check on the progress of their crops. Knowing summer is nearly over, Segir prepares to harvest his crops to store up for the winter. His small farm plot had very stony soil that had to be prepared. First, he cleared rocks from the plot and built a small retaining wall with the rocks and stones. After applying manure from his neighbor's cows and horses, the ground was prepared for growing a variety of crops. His prize mushrooms bring a nice price at the market in Falkidalr. Segir checks on his crops regularly because neighbor Farmer Maggot has reported that certain small fellows in the area are particularly fond of pilfered crops, especially mushrooms :classic: .

Beautiful build, Slegengr! Nice LotR reference

The only thing I don't like is the use of chicken legs as squash. They look exactly like squash, but I guess something about using meat for a vegetable just bothers me.

Overall though, this a really great moc. Keep up the good work. I look foward to Phase II :classic:

Thanks, Sir Gareth! I am glad you noticed the LotR reference! I try to look beyond the basic use for a piece to utilize it in interesting ways. I wondered if you had seen butternut squash before. That is fine if you do not like the parts usage. I just did not want to use the standard unprinted minifigure heads in orange or green. My first attempt was to use green apples... needless to say, I was not happy.

Nice farm phase 1 :) the part usage for the mushroom and squash are very well done :) bring on phase 2 :)

Thanks, lenjoyLego! I am glad you like the parts usage. My favorite is the mushrooms. The idea came when I saw the mushrooms in Witches of Warmorlor by Captain Flint. The technic bevel gear was used and I thought it would work well as the underside of a mushroom underneath LEGO's mushroom disc. Phase II will come eventually after all of Phase I is complete.

Nice landscape- I like the lushness of it and all the diverse flora

Thanks Scaevola! I tried to incorporate a variety of flora to make it more interesting.

Very nice, great job on all the different produce! I especially like the mushrooms and squash.

Thanks, Hammerhand! I am glad you like my favorite parts of the build.

The squash is great! I love all the varieties of plants.

Thanks, Carson! I am glad you like it!

Great little build, the irregular base is spot on and all the different plants give it a great feel!

Thanks, Kai! I am glad you like the irregular base.

Beautiful build! Love all the different plants, and the irregular base is spot on!

Thanks, Lord Vladivus! I am glad you like the build with its irregular base.

Great designs for different crops. Should serve as an example for other farm-builders.

Thanks, mccoyed! What a compliment! I do like the crops I made, but others have done excellent farm builds as well. I am glad you think mine is a good example!

Indeed! I may use some when I get around to my farm phases... I love the use of those technic gears for the underside of the mushrooms. I've got some extras of those kicking around...

Also love the Farmer Maggot reference; are there halflings lurking about in Historica? I don't recall seeing any, but I may have just forgotten or not read the appropriate posts containing reference to 'em. I only recently made some yellow-skinned halflings and have been looking for something to do with them besides sit on the shelf...

Nice variety of crops, Slegengr, and great irregular base with all those curved pieces

Thanks, Garmadon! I am glad you like it! It is mostly built from the pieces from 5 Mirkwood Elf Army sets.

Thanks, Venkefedo! Feel free to use the mushroom design. I would be glad to see it in other MOCs. To the question about Hobbits in Historica, I say of course there are Hobbits in Historica! Why not? I plan to incorporate them (yellow skinned, of course) in some of my builds.

This is really good stuff. A very effective use of space with all those crops. That's also probably the best LEGO corn I've seen.

Thanks, mrcp6d! I tried to pack in a variety of crops. I also like to pay attention to the small details and live in the heart of corn country in the USA, not to mention having worked at a stand selling sweet corn for years... my experiences drove me to try to represent corn in as realistic a fashion as possible and have been planning this for quite some time. I am glad you like it!

Great little landscape! Those mushrooms are very well designed.

Thanks, Brotherhood! The idea for the mushrooms was the beginning inspiration for this build. I am glad you like them.

Very nice one! The ground is amazing, and those crops are just like real. Great work!

Thanks, Alfadas! I am glad you think the crops look real.

I like the way you made the mushrooms. Nice garden!

Thanks, Zblj! The mushroom design was the beginning inspiration for this build. I am glad you like it.

Excellent phase 1! Those crops look good, and it's a lovely scene! :classic:

Thanks, Jorrith! Glad you like it.

Some really nice crop desigs there, my favorite is the use of those giant cherries as tomatoes :classic:

Thanks, Gideon! I thought of making a berry bush, then compared the size of the "cherries" to the minifigure hand and decided that it came out the equivalent of a medium tomato...

Very nice. The different crops are well done and the mushrooms are excellent. I really like irregular bases and yours is spot on. Good work.

Thanks, cablefoxley! I enjoy making irregular bases and am glad you like it. The mushrooms are my personal favorite crop in this build.

Lovely field, the overgrown look is great  The irregular base works beautifully here as well
