Asphalt Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) These things seemed to be far more than machines. It was as if they had true life. Salt-Upon-Wounds take these Vindsval hands S-U-W one Potion, one Remedy, the Smoke Bomb, and the Fire Bomb He places one Potion and One Remedy in his own pouches. You may need them shortly. The Wanderer may not always be on your side. You may also make use of this, Vindsval loans Salt-Upon-Wounds the Static Staff: The severed arm of a statue. Club, WP: 4, Electric-elemental. Do not break it, I want it back. Let us see where this other door leads us. Vindsval opens the left hand door. OOC: Thanks for the speady repeat boss, and What about the poison effect? Thanks for the loot, I'll make us of them when I really need to and I'll be sure to take good care of the staff for the meantime. When you're ready, let me know when you want to got through the door." Edited November 13, 2014 by Goliath Quote
Endgame Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 The party walks through the door, stepping over the billowing smoke and hissing remains of the statues. They pass into a similarly cramped room, odd shadows being cast over them with seemingly no source. In front of them was a steel grate, slightly ajar, much similar to the one they found in the old foyer. A locked door is to their left, while there is more childish scrawl written on the wall. A table is hastily pushed up against the corner of the room. The edges of the table were old and gnarled, the quiet thumping of deathwatch beetles audible from within it. A plate of rotten meat is on the table, long since abandoned. Also on the table is some salt and cutlery. What will the party do? Quote
Asphalt Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Vindsval walks through the room, careful not to trip in the open grate. As he passes the table he picks up the Salt cellar and put its in a pocket. A traveler never passes up free salt. He moves to the wall and attempts to read the writing there. Quote

Yzalirk Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 OoC: Everything alright with you guys? We seem to be falling behind a little bit. Quote
Endgame Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 (edited) QM Note: Home officially sold, seleaed the deal on rented house... Busy busy busy 36 hours. I hope you'll forgive me for these constant delays, the transition has been rougher than I had been anticipating. There are not many things I usually put Heroica on the backburner for, but this has to be one of them... Vindsval pockets the salt, before reading the demented writing on the wall. It was in the all too familiar demented scrawl of the leech room, apparently by the same author. The writing on the wall read: i dont like the room ahead and what doc does in ther, so i hid the key so doc can't go there anymore. he spends so much time back there! he doesint come out for a long long long time, and by then im hungry and thirsty and need help and i ask for help but doc never listens. he just says to keep reading some dusty old books he gave me and to keep riting my jurnols. but then he gets mad at me for writing on the wall and says "child, you must wirte on papur" and goes on and on and on about how i can't mess things up like this when hes trying to work and it makes me sad and mad. so i hid the key with my friends, theill kno how to protect it so doc cant go in there and come out and be mean to me. [salt-Upon-Wounds examines the shadows.] The shadows appear to be odd, globular shapes, like someone spilled ink on the floor. And yet, none of the gnarled woodwork could possibly produce such a shape, the flikcering candlelight casting the shadow of some sort of object that doesn't seem to exist, or at least able to be percieved. How can that be...? Edited November 15, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Asphalt Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 OOC: Congratulations man, The home owning/selling process is always stressful. glad to hear the good news So it is a child, if he has harmed him, the good doctor will have that the answer for when this is finished. What friends does the child speak of. I hope it was not the automatons in the other room. Salt-upon-Wounds, what do you make of the shadows? This writing says there is a key hidden nearby. I fear we have a search ahead of us if we are to proceed. I will check the grate. Vindsval moves the the center of the room and attempts to move the grate and search within the hole. Quote
Yzalirk Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 (edited) OoC: I understand and congratulations! . "I'm not sure what to make of them but I don't like it one bit." Asphalt Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Be on your guard Earthbound. Shadows can be more deadly than that which throw them. Quote
Endgame Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Beneath the grate is an expanse of murky, gurgling water, with a ladder leading down into the soggy pit. It seemed like it extended all the way back, with the only way too truly see what was down there was to climb in and explore the basement grotto. Noticing that candles on the ceiling were the only thing that could be casting the shadows, Asphalt holds his weapon up towards the ceiling and scrapes it around, coming into contact with several objects. They fall down with a disgusting squelch, as if moist... What would the party do? Edited November 16, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Asphalt Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Wonderful, muck below and mush above. The sub-levels aren't going anywhere, Let us not leave anything unknown at our backs quite yet. Vindsval turns from the grate momentarily to examine the "squelchy objects." Quote
Yzalirk Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 "It's the unknown that bothers me. But thankfully, these shadows are just created by candles. Shall we proceed through the grate, Vindsval?" Quote
