With all the excitement regarding the new sets, I was wondering why we can't get ''UCS Technic '' sets in the £200-£400 price bracket? Is Star Wars just that much more popular and therefore a high demand for such sets.

Yes.

If there was a business case for it, you can bet they would make such a set. Nothing is preventing them except money.

For an obvious way to see how much more popular Star Wars is and how different the business case is, look how common it is to get rare parts in odd colors for a Star Wars set. For a Technic set, we typically get whatever color they have (like gray #3 connectors).

So what do you guys think of the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO?

Nissan's new LMP1 car to compete with the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro (it wont beat the R18), Porsche 919 hybrid and Toyota TS 040 (maybe TS 050) in the FIA WEC races such as Les 24 Heures du Mans. With a 550 HP 3.0L V6 sitting at the front of the car powering only the front wheels, this is no normal GT-R. With a 700 HP KERS system for the rear wheels this it has a total of 1250 HP.

So what do you guys think of it and how it will do ?

That's been done at conventions. Very entertaining.

Hey guys,

Like stated in the TC8 topic, I will be away for a few weeks. Tomorrow, me and Kitty (my girlfriend) will depart from Amsterdam to the West Coast of the US for a four week trip. We will start with an 18 day motorhome trip (Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon, Page, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Las Vegas, Yosemite and HW1) followed by a few days LA and finishing it with a relaxing cruise along the coastline (between San Fransisco and Ensenada, Mexico).

If you like, I can post a few pictures now and then. I originally planned to bring a Technic set and do a Review during my trip, but I figured I can better do a review at home and spend my time away from the computer.

The contest is up-and-running so Milan will take care of that.

I will be online sometimes, but I will minimize my online activity. So be nice and I will see you in a couple of weeks :sweet:

Sound like a trip of a lifetime, Jim. This summer I have made a similar trip through Scandinavia (yes, Billund as well) and I can endorse a motorhome roadtrip to anyone (VW T4 California FTW).

Photo's would be nice, but I do expect a Lego set/creation to join you on your trip  . Maybe it can be part of your pictures or maybe you can take pictures of Lego related stuff along your trip like shop displays, collectors along the way, etc.

Anyway, all the best on your trip!

Thanks! It does indeed feel like the trip of a lifetime. We have been looking forward to it for the past 180 days (not that I was counting) and now it's only one night away

I am bringing some Minifigs to represent us during the trip. But maybe I can still bring a small set. I have quite a few unopened. Suggestions? :D

That's an awesome trip! I did a similar itinerary with my parents back in 2000 (by car, not motorhome), and it was freaking awesome. Try to visit Antelope Canyon when in the Page area. It is not as well known as the big parks (at least, it wasn't 15 years ago  , but according to the Wikipedia page it had only been open for 3 years by then) and a beautiful sight:

Antelope Canyon is definitely on our list, but we will only be in Page for a single day. We will arrive around 11:00/12:00 and leave the next day. Do you think we will have time in the afternoon to visit the Canyon?

Absolutely. If I recall correctly, the whole visit took only 2 hours or so. There is a drive from the border of the reservation to the canyon and back, and the hike through the canyon, which is not that big. Midday would be the best time to visit considering the light conditions, so I would recommend visiting on arrival in the area and then continue to drive to the RV site.

Hmmm that's something I didn't consider! I was planning on going to the campsite first, but we will obviously don't have a means of transportation to the Canyon. Thanks for the tip!!

Hmm, personally, I would like to see a Technic set. Maybe the 42037 offroader or the 42036 motorbike driving though all the landscapes you will see or the 42032 tracked loader digging in all the surfaces you will encounter. Maybe the 42023 construction team is nicer and more diverse to pose. Or maybe you should even take your 42043 MB truck and load it with memorabilia as you go along, one for each city/landmark/state you will visit. Maybe you should just take a load of bricks and start a collective build that progresses with all the people you meet, although normal studded bricks would better suited for that. Maybe you can let people build stuff at each overnight stop with the 1210 Architecture studio set, inspired by this museum I visited:

... I better stop here before I get carried away.

Have fun, and most of all be safe! Traveling is always an eye-opening experience, it changes perspective literaly and mentaly!

Thanks mate. I bet this trip will add something to my life-experience.
