Berry Syedow Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I searched, but didn't find anything... so do what you will if this topic has already been discussed. A certain thread in Bricklink's forum says the end of Harry Potter is near: LINK If Harry Potter is to be discontinued it will be most unfortunate for those of us who enjoy collecting LEGO accessories and whatnot. At the very least we got a new hair-do from the latest hogwarts castle set. Meh. :-/ Quote
Athos Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Well there isn't any indication that there won't be anymore sets... Just that the previous line (HP4) didn't do so well. Probably why they only released one set this time. Steve Quote

Probably why they only released one set this time.Steve Which might be a good indication, but I hope you're right. More sets that are on par with graveyard duel would be wonderful! It just seems like a lot of Harry Potter sets are hit or miss. Some have great design while others are dreadfully <insert that tiresome argument>. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 What?! But only 2 movies are left! thats pathetic! -ZotS Quote
Siegfried Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I tend to believe it. I have bought three Harry Potter sets, all were half price or less. The last batch didn't seem to sell well at all. But they are great for parts at half price. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Yah, true. But the sets weren't all that good. Maybe if they made better sets, than we would get more Harry Potter sets. -ZotS Quote
Aredhel Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 IMO the sets were cool. There are some other themes which have really bad sets, but the HP sets are nice! When you know the movies and the novels, its really fun to see how good they did most of the sets! -Aredhel Quote
Dfenz Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 IMO the sets were cool. There are some other themes which have really bad sets, but the HP sets are nice! When you know the movies and the novels, its really fun to see how good they did most of the sets!-Aredhel I agree. I've all the HP sets and the best thing about the series of sets was the way they combined together to produce a huge Hogworths. Sure there was repetition such as the three versions of the Hogworths express and the 2 Hagrid Huts but the sets that could be combined to form a large school were more than adequate for the purpose. The Goblet of Fire series stand alone sets weren't too bad, especially graveyard duel, but I'd have personally preferred to see more classrooms. Its inevitable when collecting an entire series that you end up with a dozen copies of the main character and that certainly happened in the HP series. However, there was a very large cast of characters to choose from the books and most of the key people have been 'Lego'ized' at some point. I've got the latest set 5378 and it it bears all the hallmarks of a 'milk the franchise' set. I think it looks fairly bland although it will combine nicely with the other two castles and the classrooms. When I've built it I'll be able to add some more constructive thoughts. I would have liked to have seen a Ministry of Magic building together with the requisite phone box from OOTP. However, I can understand that when you are on book 7 and film 5 original source material (i.e. locations, characters or vehicles) becomes a little thinner on the ground. The other point is that the HP material has being getting much darker as the books have progressed and perhaps the theme may not be sitting as comfortably within Lego's target market as it was when the series started. Just my tuppence worth. David Quote
gusmoore17 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 *sing* If the Harry Potter franchise seems to be out of place is TLC's fault! For Goblet of Fire were produced only 4 sets!! One of them very out of place: the Durmstrang's Ship. That was very dissapointing, specially after the Prisoner of Azkaban wave, which was far better than the two previous lines. And, what's all about making only one set for Order of the Phoenix?! I was at least expecting a re-design of Dumbledore's Office! It's true the series grow darker, but the same is with SW, even if that is an excuse, TLC could be designing sets for 9-14, leaving behind a 7-12 line! Quote
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 harry potter will end, it will after the castle. Quote
Wout Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Pity it will end, I liked the franchise much, although there were too much Harry's and Ron's and Draco's in it. I wished they made a Nympadora Tonks and a Kingsley Shaklebolt for order of the Phoenix and a Kreacher, a Mundungus Fletcher, a minister Fudge, Luna Lovegood, Cho Chang, Fred and George ofcourse, a new version of Ginny, Bellatrix Lestrange, Deatheater army (they were with 12 or something), Aberforth D, Madame Rosmertha, whole Weasley famly, Firenze and Bane and other centauers, A hospital set with Longbottom Family and new Lockheart :-D . Oh, I could go on and on. Phoenix on! Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Well the way I see it, it could be like the Star Wars Lego franchise. All the movies are done but lego is still being done, they could do more sets, hospitol wing, Quiddicth pitch, Womping willow, the 3rd task, that place were they hold the order of the phionex meetings and LOADS more. Quote
natelite Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 well, harry potter and Lego just don't mix. meh :-/ but i guess that means i gotta collect the last hogwart castle set then. hopefully from a sale! :-P it's got everything, hagrid, dumbledore, harry, rodney, hermione, etc. :-P gotta find another franchise to replace lego SW. Quote
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Harry potter started to stink in the fourth year sets, and so did the movie. It is because they switched the composer from john williams to patrick doyle, and now they are swiching again! Quote
Wout Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 it's got everything, hagrid, dumbledore, harry, rodney, hermione, etc. Rodney? *wacko* Do you mean Ron? :-D Quote
SWMAN Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 The first two movies had great legos, but then they started making less and less for each movie, until just one for the new movie. A series can't survive with just one set. Quote
Matn Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 That's cruel! I just read the last book out and it was... fantastic *pink away some tears* There could be so nice LEGO scenes build with the info in that book. Why couldn't LEGO have the license on the books! THAT would be so much better. I am now searching for Harry Potter 'fleshie' sets, since I never wanted to buy them because they were flashie! But it's al comming back to me now... Harry Potter is great! It's pefetic(how do you spell it?), it's a shame that there was only one HP set for the fifth movie! It was by far most the best book from whole the serie! And the castle is nice, but there are already three castles. (I'm trying to buy it, but it didn't come out in Belgium, perhaps in France, does anybody from France know that? I don't have any Hogwarts castle, so I would buy that one). I'm happy with the first three moviesets, they are great. And I'm now buying those from the 4th movie. Look what Harry Potter brought us, one of the best lisence IMO, it brought awesome castles, beatiful houses and a bunch of new pieces/molds and animals! Harry Potter LEGO must go on! I love it, I hope there are other people to who love(d) it? :'-( Please LEGO, make much sets for the last two movies... Please... *sad* Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Reading that original post got me thinking... Just been on the phone as I didn't get a new calogue in my last order.Chatting as we girllies do. I said I like HP she said thats a shame they aren't doing any more, the last series was not popular enough. Has anyone herd this before. Becky If my English isn't failing me (and without having heard the woman SAY it, which would've helped), I wonder... Seems like she could've meant either of these two options: "It's a shame they won't make new HP LEGO anymore at all" or "It's a shame there weren't any more sets out for this movie". Certainly "the last series was not popular enough" refers to the Goblet of Fire products. Despite the apparant impopularity however, TLC released a set for Order of the Phoenix. Now, if GoF wasn't profitable at all, why even bother to make an OotP set? Maybe it was not popular enough to keep making multiple sets, but apparently TLC felt confident about bringing out one set. They wouldn't have if they thought interest in HP LEGO was at a total zero. My guess is, if TLC thought it'd be profitable to make an OotP set, there might just be Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows ones in the future. But then again, maybe that's wishful thinking on my part. Reading some quote allows for several interpretations, hearing someone say it would've narrowed it down a lot. Quote
Wout Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 It is: Pathetic (no not your comment) ;-) you only can buy the last Hogwarts at shop@home and in Brand stores (Cologne, Oberhausen etc.) If they put enough new figs or new things in it, it would sell, but they must put in every set a Harry or a Draco, and other important figs are only in 1 set (Ginny, Neville, Vernon, Trelawny, etc.) or never made (other weasleys, Loona, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, Kingsley Shaklebolt, Nymphadora Tonks etc.) Maybe they can also made Hp Battle packs (no Hasbro anger) Quote
Matn Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) Thanks Wout, I have forgotten it is written pathetic. =) Well, battlepacks are a great idea. Four packages with Hufflepufs, Ravenclaws, Slytherin and Griffendor. Awesome. And a package with the Order and a package with the deatheathers, cool. I think it's stupid they never made a 'Nest' (the home of the Weasly's). Well, time for some MOC'ing! The LEGO of 4th movie wasn't that cool, except the graveyard. Where were the other competitioners (in the battle), there was only Harry en Kruml. What about Fleur? What about that other one of Hogwarts? Where was the cup of fire? And so on, they had to make much better and more sets, like for the other movies. But it is all to late now... Hopefully they make more sets, with more other characters in them (refering to 1 and 2 and 3, there were a lat of other characters except Harry, Hermoine and Ron). Edit: And one good idea for the 5th moviesets was the one in the Ministry. With the statue of the golden wizards... And the place where Sirius dead (oh my :'-( )Damn you LEGO! (kidding, off course) Edited December 15, 2007 by Matn Quote
