DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 I really wanna build this now. Could you post one more picture of the overall ship? Also how easy do you think this would be to make in LDD? I might wanna try that first. I'll post one or two pictures of the overall ship tomorrow, if you like. As for how 'easy' it would be to make in LDD - well, hard I guess. Reason is that there are 4 or a few more 'illegal' builds with the framework to which the outer edge builds are attached, as well as with the wedge plating that is angled along two axes. Nothing comes apart, though, and no parts are noticably stressed. The 'illegal' builds are very minor that way - but I suppose they won't work in LDD. Aside from winning the award for the post with most spoilers... Hehe - I did this to avoid any hickups with too many embedded pictures in one post. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I think I'll give it a crack in LDD this weekend. That'd also make it all easier to get the parts. I'm sure with about 5 hours of trial and error I could get a somewhat working file. Quote
XCool Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Here is a buckload of photographs that should give anyone who wants to rebuild this MOC or something similar the insight needed. Note that this is the latest, most refined version of this MOC, which has received quite a few improvements and even new features along the way, including the large frontal cargo bay in-between the front and rear landing gears. If anybody uses these photographs as a reference to rebuild this MOC or is inspired by them to have his or her own go at this marvelous ship, I'd be happy to see the results here! Enjoy! WHERE IS THE LIKE BUTTON WHEN YOU NEED IT??? Quote

u123456 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I want to know what extra parts (parts list) do I need to buy. I want to build this but it looks like alot of extra parts you need. Do you buy two (Ghost/Phantom) to build one? Quote

BluePulse Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 hi, i was wondering if there have been any updates in the LDD? I'm getting my ghost/phantom at the end of the week and am hoping to be able to mod it at least similarly to yours. thanks for any info Quote
Bricksnaps Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I love this MOC. Thanks for taking the time to share it. I would love any files if you are willing to share them. Maybe even if you put them on rebrickable and charge a modest fee for your time and skill. It's a great MOC- I have a ghost in a box waiting to give my son- but j want to build this :) Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I feel bad for not working on this more. The LDD file is about half done, but I've been procrastinating and putting it off. I have a few other projects that I need to finish first, but then I can direct my attention towards it. I hope you guys can wait about a week for it! Quote
BluePulse Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 No worries! it'll definitely be worth the wait, thanks for letting s know! Quote

I'm glad you're attempting to create an LDD file of the model, so take as long as you need. As for fees: I view LEGO as a hobby and create models for the sheer fun of it, not with the intent to charge a fee from other LEGO fans who'd like to build my models themselves. If GuyDudeMan27 wants to charge a little fee for the LDD file he's creating, that'd be his choice and I don't veto if he chooses to do so. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I prefer working for free. I wouldn't want to withhold anyone from this model. And thank you guys so much for understanding! I'll have it ready as soon as I can. Quote

Curse Hawking Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Does anyone here know if anyone has done or plans to do a mini-fig scale Ghost? I had the crazy idea of doing it myself, but was looking around online to see if anyone had already done so. So far this one seems to be the closest, but not quite mini-fig scale, (although still very nicely done!). Quote

So far this one seems to be the closest, but not quite mini-fig scale, (although still very nicely done!). Honestly, I'd like to see that, too. I've seen attempts on the web which all seem to have been abandoned at an early stage. The GHOST is quite a bit larger than the Millenium Falcon and has significantly more mass, and the Falcon already is a beast in minifig scale. Also, the cockpit and front gunnery bubble will be quite a challenge at a larger scale. My model is quite heavy for it's size, and a GHOST in minifig scale would need to be twice the size and therefore is likely to have more than twice the weight. Quote

Well i found these pictures for the interior: http://colonialchrome.deviantart.com/art/The-Ghost-Exterior-503756450 I'm not sure how accurate they are, but It seems like the main interior space takes up the "core" area, and the sloped corner areas don't have any real interior space in them. I haven't even begun on the design, but i was thinking of making it in a modular way so that the various sections would snap into place with technic pieces, and then reinforced if needed, that way you could take the ship apart and still have access to the interior areas fairly easily without having to completely disassemble it all. The images in the link above aren't to the same scale as what's written on this wiki page: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost However, it seems fairly accurate compared to what i've seen from the show, plus it makes building it a bit easier, so i'll probably go for the smaller scale instead. That would make the bulk of the ship only 22 inches in length, since a lot of the extra length would be the front windscreen, and the engines at the back, which stick out quite a ways. The total length would be around 30.5 inches if you include the engines and front windscreen. I've done a bit of shopping for some parts to make up the front windscreens and some tires to make the engines out of, as well as a boat load of white pieces for the exterior. I'm having a hard time finding parts to use for the cone areas on the engines between the larger and smaller diameters but was thinking of making them myself since i can easily machine something out of some kind of plastic to work if needed. I've also got the official Ghost on the way and some of the parts from that will go into the MOC, i should have plenty of free parts for everything else. Quote
gavralcraw Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I started on a minifig scale ghost. it's a little over a metre long. And I didn't get very far to be honest. happy to share what I did. http://starwarsrebelsships.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/interios-shots-of-ghost.html Quote
