October 21, 201410 yr This is going to be an intense contest. Some of the best MOCers in the world are participating; I'll likely make multiple entries since only one really can't convey as much of a message as multiple mocs can. Edited October 21, 201410 yr by Zenerius
October 21, 201410 yr I moved your post out of the entry thread. Please only post entries in the entry thread, any feedback should be posted in this thread or in the MOCs individual thread (if the creator made one) You mean the post I was replying to, right?
October 21, 201410 yr Author Alright everyone here is an extra something I have thrown together for the winners of the contest here on Eurobricks; New tags! For the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers from our site respectively. I also have made a black one, how to obtain this will be described later, but it is not related to the contest. You mean the post I was replying to, right? The entry thread is only for submitting entries, not for discussion of the entries. Your post was a discussion post.
October 21, 201410 yr 1. If you refer to the rules, you can see that the entries will be judged on: • Overall coolness and creativity • Inspired originality • Uniqueness • Creative use of parts Bionicle-ness isn't mentioned, however, when the Lead Designer, the Marketing Manager and one of the most awesome Bionicle builders alive are the judges, I'd say you should build accordingly. 1.5. Again, referring to the rules: " Copies of/or in other ways infringements relating to any existing third party property or any other intellectual property right will not be eligible for the competition" It's quite clear. No 3rd party IPs. 2. The 75/25 ratio is a rule of thumb, designed to have entries be more or less equal, giving the judges the ability to compare the entries in a fair manner. We will not be counting pieces per se, but again, use your good judgement. 2.5 You can create a background, and it will not count in the 75/25 ratio. But remember that it's your MOC that is being judged. 3. Technic is Technic and System is System. 1. That's exactly the answer I was looking for =P. 1.5 I more meant in the instance where an MoC is inspired by a particular artist's rendering of a concept that's in the public domain, but to be safe I'll avoid it entirely. Thanks for the answers! I started building yesterday. ;) Well, we're boned. Alright everyone here is an extra something I have thrown together for the winners of the contest here on Eurobricks; New tags! For the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers from our site respectively. October 22, 201410 yr 1. Can I use the old building system? I have never bought a CCBS set. I mean, I chacked the submission thread and saw some creations using the old system, but is that allowed? 2. Only one entry will be judged- can we choose which one as we near the deadline or will it be chosen at random? Edited October 22, 201410 yr by Master_Data
October 22, 201410 yr Author 1. Can I use the old building system? I have never bought a CCBS set. Only one entry will be judged- can we choose which one as we near the deadline or will it be chosen at random? 1) Yes, that is considered Bionicle/technic/constraction 2) by that rule we mean only one entry could end up in the winning pool. When we choose the initial five from each site to send to Lego, all five entries would be done by different people. You couldn't win first and second place, for example.

October 22, 201410 yr My first entry is coming along nicely, just a problem with stability...Well, I guess that's what Technic is for in the trifecta of Lego building methods: Constraction = Articulation Technic = Stability and Function System = Detail. And let's step up the pace here people. I know the proverbial Rome wasn't built in a day, but we here at Eurobricks have to put our best foot forwards.
October 22, 201410 yr And let's step up the pace here people. I know the proverbial Rome wasn't built in a day, but we here at Eurobricks have to put our best foot forwards. patience, these things take time. This may sound weird, but I'm gonna let mine sit on my desk for a little bit before I post it, just to make I work out all the gaps and things I don't like. But rest assured, mine and many others are on there way. Good luck too all! Edited October 22, 201410 yr by arc
October 22, 201410 yr I'm barely coming up with any concepts. I scrapped an entire design because the villain wouldn't qualify (NO, I will not elaborate on this), and I'm struggling for concepts to work with for pieces. It doesn't help that listening to the NINJAGO soundtrack is really pulling my heart back to it...

Yeah, I got the same issue here, doesn't help that I'm super hyped for a Convention that I'm going to this weekend. Ah well, I got plenty of time to work on something amazing.
October 22, 201410 yr Yeah, I got the same issue here, doesn't help that I'm super hyped for a Convention that I'm going to this weekend. Ah well, I got plenty of time to work on something amazing. Eh, I've pulled an old idea out of the scrapyard and decided to build it physically. Working really well so far. Also, how flexible is the 70/30 Constraction to System ratio? I've been using studs a fair bit on my entry and I'm worried it will offbalance it. I'm not asking for exemption from the rule (good grief, then you'd have to let EVERYONE use System and the whole contest gets that much more horrifying), just if it's an actual solid one.
October 22, 201410 yr I'm still coming up with ideas. I don't know if I want to go super buff or thin and creepy. I guess that's what multiple entries are for.
October 22, 201410 yr Hey, I'm on vacation until early November; I'm not even going to have access to parts until then =P. I could LDD something, but for once I feel the need to get down and dirty. Eh, I've pulled an old idea out of the scrapyard and decided to build it physically. Working really well so far. Also, how flexible is the 70/30 Constraction to System ratio? As answered to my question: 2. The 75/25 ratio is a rule of thumb, designed to have entries be more or less equal, giving the judges the ability to compare the entries in a fair manner. We will not be counting pieces per se, but again, use your good judgement. So basically, don't push it =P.
October 22, 201410 yr Author Yet another question for our grand Overlords! An Imgur album is fine, right? Yes you may upload your images to any hosting service you choose, just please remember; -Post one of those photos directly in the entry thread(I know the first few people didn't do that, I will amend that) -That photo should be 800x600, 640x480, or any other size within those restraints Then you may link to wherever your images are hosted
October 22, 201410 yr Lego has confirmed that the golden mask is in fact one we haven't seen at nycc, a skull spider mask! https://m.facebook.com/LEGOBionicle?refid=17 Seems fitting for building a villian. Edited October 22, 201410 yr by arc
October 22, 201410 yr That golden Skull Spider mask looks superb, I must say. And the stand is pretty nifty as well. But what bothers me is: where's the protective casing? As far as I can see, without any outer casing, it just looks like it will be a very valuable dust magnet Still doesn't stop me from trying to win it of course, though the likelihood of actually winning it is probably about as slim as me winning the lottery
