CabooseBM Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) It's really kind of actively bumming me out that you can enter old MoCs in the contest. Like, woo, a bunch of people get free shots at the mask, no effort required, bravo. =/ Edited November 17, 2014 by CabooseBM Quote
DraikNova Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Agreed. I kind of feel that MOCs should be made specifically for the contest, not just recycled. Quote
Nitroxylin Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 And what about posting an entry on multiple forums? I'm from RusBio and it seems like some EB and BZP denizens register there just to post their entries. Looks like an exploit. Quote
Frozen Assasin Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Привет, Нитр. Вроде в правилах не указано что это нельзя. И, я уверен, ты сам этим грешил. Hello, Nitr. I don't think the rules don't say that is not allowed. Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 You can only be a winner on one site, so in the end it doesn't matter. Quote

Yeah, I agree, it feels a bit rude to join a website only for the sake of trying to beat its usual members. But it is allowed. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Here on Eurobricks, usually you have to have joined the site before the start of the contest to be eligible to enter. Do the other sites not require this? Now, if the entrant is a member of multiple sites before the contest, I see nothing wrong with him/her entering the same build in another arena, against a different pool of competitors. You can still only win one slot. Quote

You can still only win one slot. This isn't an EB contest, though. It's a contest run and sponsored by LEGO, but farmed out to multiple sites. TLG made the rules and they didn't see a problem (this time) with people registering just to enter on a site. What harm does it do? You can only win on one site, and if anything, it nets sites another user who may just decide to stay and hang out. Quote
CabooseBM Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Agreed. I kind of feel that MOCs should be made specifically for the contest, not just recycled. Yeah, exactly! It kinda makes it transparent what the goals are here, and it's not "having fun building stuff". I'm not convinced this whole multiple entries across multiple sites including reposted mocs isn't going to end with pushing out a lot of otherwise perfectly valid and competitive entries. Quote

I'm not convinced this whole multiple entries across multiple sites including reposted mocs isn't going to end with pushing out a lot of otherwise perfectly valid and competitive entries. The reason we decided to allow people to post old MOCs and post entries on multiple sites is that it would be impossible for us to enforce it otherwise. The judges are not going to have time to look at several hundred MOCs and then search for each one online to make sure it was never posted before the start of the contest. Since we'll be judging the winners, you can rest assured that we will make sure it is the best MOCs that make it to the final round. Quote
Jakura Nuva Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 *Entries built in LDD must only contain parts in colors that are available to build with in real life. This might have already been covered, but... does this mean that the pieces I use in LDD will have to be colored the way they appear in already existing sets? Because, if so, that makes things extremely difficult. Quote

Frozen Assasin Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I really don't understand the purpose of this contest. Finally, everybody will have all the sets if they want to have them and the Golden Mask is stupid. I, really, really don't get it. Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I'd hardly say a 14 karat Bionicle mask is stupid as a collector's item, and the sets are signed by the designers. Quote
Frozen Assasin Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) I just mean that for a bunch of stupid autographs (The sets will still be utilized as piece material BTW) and for a 14-karat golden thing-y, people are willing to cheat their megablocks off. That's stupid. (Okay, I stop). Edited November 19, 2014 by Frozen Assasin Quote

BTW, can we use parts in colors that don't exist yet in LDD ? I mean, can we use 2015 recolors (like the dark orange shells, or the tr. purple bones) in our LDD MOCs ? Quote

Finally, everybody will have all the sets if they want to have them and the Golden Mask is stupid. I, really, really don't get it. Sorry that a 14K gold mask and free sets aren't good enough for you. Lego is generously providing these prizes, I think that fact alone should warrant some appreciation. BTW, can we use parts in colors that don't exist yet in LDD ? I mean, can we use 2015 recolors (like the dark orange shells, or the tr. purple bones) in our LDD MOCs ? As long as the part exists in real life, then yes. Quote

Lyichir Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) Because the majority of pieces used in my MOC are in Legacy copper, as LDD labels it. And to my knowledge, no current constraction sets use that color... Then change the colors to ones that the parts do exist in. That's easy on LDD. Allowing digital models to use parts that don't exist would result in an unfair playing field, since that's impossible to do on a "purist" physical model. Also, just as a bit of trivia: Only one constraction set has ever used LDD's 139 Copper: 8706 Karzon from the Knights' Kingdom theme. And only his shield used that color in an untreated state, because his other copper parts used 306 Copper, Diffuse. In Bionicle, the only "copper" parts were the copper masks (176 Red Flip/Flop). Jakura Nuva Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Yes. I got that now. And ah, I should've known - I own Karzon :P Quote
