Garmadon Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Cool banner, Slegengr! Regarding the latest idea, if you are going to put shields on each side of every section, you might consider putting them in different places (maybe the shields on the left towards the top and the ones on the right at the bottom) so that they aren't right next to each other, as it looks a bit odd that way Quote
Slegengr Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Thanks, Garmadon! I tried your idea in a prototype banner, but I am liking the other minimalist versions better. I appreciate the input. I have posted more prototypes incorporating the guild shields. Let me know what you think. I am sorry if there are a lot of images to scroll through, but I wanted to show the different possibilities. On Friday, I will make the final decision which two will be entered. Thanks for looking and for giving feedback! Quote
MKJoshA Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I like the one with the smallest version of the minifigs because I think that helps fix the crowded feeling the best. And I like it with the flags at the top. That looks really sharp. I don't think you should use the shields as they look grainy and are only from the first set of challenges and doesn't tell the on-going nature of GoH very well. I also think you should change the Avalonian archer. Right now she looks like a cancer patient. I would use a female hair piece instead of the Robin Hood hat. Quote
SarahJoy Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 It may be helpful to number the options at this point. Quote

This is a hard decision for me, as I think the flags are pretty good, yet the shields are more concise and better presented as an addition to the banner. I am still somewhat leaning towards the shields, as they represent the guild colors in a concise and fitting manner, though I do not want the banner to seem linked only to the first book. I know what you mean about the Avalonian archer. I spent some time trying to find a way to incorporate hair and the forestman hat. Maybe a hood would work for her as well? I will try a few ideas and see if I can fix this. It may be helpful to number the options at this point. I will add numbers to the first post . That should help prevent confusion with the number of banners presented. I am glad others are willing to provide so much feedback and make this a community-made banner for the community. Edit: Numbers have been added and I have updated the banner Forestwoman to have hair. Of course, this is actually brick-built and not edited, as I try to be as purist as possible. I used SNOT bricks and plates to hold two of this piece in reddish brown up behind her head to wrap around and come up under the brim of the hat. I hope you like it, as I burnt some midnight oil to make this update. I think it is much better than the bald lady. Edited October 30, 2014 by Slegengr Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Have you tried putting the shields in front of the minifigure in the middle of each group? I think that might work well. Quote
robuko Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Looks great with the smaller figures as SarahJoy suggested. My favourite is number 11. Quote

See GoH_Banner_11. The shield is not exactly in the middle of each group, but I located it where it had good contrast to the background rather than blending in. This is probably my favorite banner, but I also like banner 9. Looks great with the smaller figures as SarahJoy suggested. My favourite is number 11. Thanks, Robuko! I think banner 11 is my favorite as well. Quote
MassEditor Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Fantastic, the best entry I've seen yet! Very representative! Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 5 and 11 would be my definite favorites now! Quote
SarahJoy Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 5 is my favorite, I think, with 11 a very close second. Quote
Gideon Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) 5 is my favorite, I think, with 11 a very close second. I agree. 5 is slightly better as I'm not sure if the shields are needed and adds a bit extra crowding, but even though the figs have the guild colors it's of course nice to show those explicitly in that way...so I guess either one works for me as well.
