Flipz Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Ellaria looks into the carcass of the chicken, hoping to find some delicious chicken drumsticks (of the non-rotten variety). "Ah, yes", she says as she sees the others taking their leave. "I believe we only have one place to search before the Tower, and that's the bakery." Sadly for the Druid, the butchered bird had not been properly preserved, providing no nutrition for the nurturing cleric. In search of the final pieces of the puzzle, the fearsome foursome found their way to the town Bakery. Within, a familiar mouse nibbled away at the corner of a stack of parchment; as the party made its presence known, it again shrieked and sped away, leaving another letter for them to read. Though its tone seemed stale at the start, it shifted with time from business to personal. Sellars & Sons Manager's logbook *date smudged* First day of re-opening. Sales above previously recorded average. Additional traffic likely generated by change in management and surrounding circumstances. --Thomas Sellars, Manager The first several entries were similar, but gradually the author began to leave less logical logs and more entries akin to a diary or journal. The final three entries seemed to be the one most relevant to the present situation. Baker's Note: I saw someone strange coming into town last night. Well, everyone did--bunch of busybodies this town is--but I'm pretty sure I recognized her. Amara Jing--we used to be friends when we were little. It seems so long ago now. I hadn't seen her since Dad died--well, I haven't really seen ANYONE since then, have I? I think she was a mage or something--friend of Mayor Persephone's daughter, maybe. Wonder what a mage was doing at the Alchemists' Tower--I thought mages and alchemists hated each other? Hmm...I think I remember something about her having to leave town ages ago. Is that why, maybe? But why would she be back? Dad used to do research at the Tower back in the day--maybe I should look through his notes. -------- Closed the shop early and went to the Tower today to pick up some more historical records. Apparently, Vitrificus Ming--the guy who built the Tower ages ago--made a law that anyone born with magical talents are to be forced out of town as soon as they can fend for themselves. I couldn't find why the law was passed, because who decided to show up but Amara herself. Well, you know me and women--I bailed. One thing's for sure, though: she's staying at the Tower, invited. I have no idea why. -------- Captain Sloane paid me a visit this morning. It was weird--I couldn't tell if she was commending me for poking around or chastising me for it. Either way, she told me there's a meeting at Town Hall tonight. I don't know why, but I get the feeling it's going to be more important than anyone realizes. Judging by the dates listed, these three entries had been made in the last three days before the actual incident occurred. With everywhere in town now visited, and a few precious clues under their belts, the party was well on their way to solving this town's secrets. What would the party do now? Quote

Flipz Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 I approach the fireplace, trying to see if I can tell when it was last used. Ellaria inspects the stones to find out how to spell "VITRIFICUS_MING" into them. "Yes, eheh, I think that is correct... perhaps we just touch the stones to choose the right letters?" It appeared the monk's suspicion was correct, for with each touch of flesh to stone, a different letter appeared. It took but a few moments to enter the suggested name, and a few moments more for the tell-tale thunk of an unbarring bolt falling away to sound. The door swung open, ushering the party into... As the party of four stepped inside, the grey stone walls seemed to close in around them. The enclosed space felt both spacious and yet confined, some primal fear urging them to stay away, to flee that awful place. OoC: I wouldn't count it as an effect, but it's up to Flipz. QM Note: Hmm...to me it does count as an effect (so someone can't splash a Trial Brew on an enemy that's "immune to effects" in order to halve their HP and SP), but it also specifically states that it cannot be removed once applied except by KO, so Docken will be keeping the Trial. That goes both ways, though; currently, his Scary Hat is currently preventing the SP reduction from the Trial, but if it's de-equipped in the middle of Trial for some reason, re-equipping it won't reverse the reduction. I'll run the Round once I have an action from Thormanil. Quote

Flipz Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 QM Note: ...wow. Second action rolled, boom, Special Damage. Quote
JimBee Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 "Agh..." Hybros covers his one good eye, which was now blinded. He stumbles backwards and manages to grab a Remedy from his pack. He then tries to fend off the Clerk Golem with a feeble string of darkness. OOC: Do Martial Hits count as physical attacks? I'm using ether, but they're not exactly spells, either... Also, in Docken's defense, he's also immune to positive effect removal so he should keep his Scary and Trial effects because of that. Quote

I believe they are physical (to my mind, the elemental imbuement is the only part that can be blocked by Sealed), though it doesn't matter anyway since Hybros is immune to Blinded. Quote

Hybros instead pockets the Remedy, looking over to Ellaria. "Can you heal yourself? I could use the extra time to take down this golem, eheh..." Hybros downs a potion in the back row and attacks the Golem Clerk from the front row. Quote
