There was a family of them at the General Store, and just now we fought a monk-like golem who was harassed by a roguish golem. Like my companion said, we were escorted here by Miss Persephone, but she went missing on the mountains. Flipz Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Thormanil looks around and with a surprisingly nervous tone, responds, "Uh, well.. No, maybe, ghost town, what men, you folks, and no, we've wrecked each golem we've seen so far, if those are your prototypes." "Hmph. I like this one. Not his answers, but that can't be helped. Captain Cecilia Sloane. Head of the Towr Guard--what's left of 'em. My men are downstairs trying to contain the outbreak. I'd be with 'em, but this big baby made me bring him up here to Ming's personal lab right before we sealed the Sanctuary door." "Hey! I'm still the Mayor of this town!" "You're also a gigantic pain in the megablocks, so shut up and let the competent people speak." The mayor spluttered and stammered, unable to construct a coherent comeback. Hybros added to Thormanil's words, addressing the first voice. "You must be Persephone. Your daughter was taken on the way back to this town... I can not say if she is alright." "Oh, Mallora...oh my little girl..." "It'll be all right, Dad. She's clever. She'll figure something out." "Damn...all that work. Are you sure they're all completely irreparable?" A sharp slapping sound was heard, and several seconds of scuffling. "You bastard, Ming, my daughter is out there and all you can think of is your precious project...!" "Where was all this hesitation when your other daughter and I first brought this to you, hm? After all that's happened, now you don't want to have my back?" "Leave me out of this please..." "Oh, stuff it the both of you. Sure, Manfred, Kennedy may be a hypocrite, but that doesn't make you any less of a bastard." Ellaria hands Hybros the other biscuit. She then yells an answer to the vent. "Sir, we have not found anyone in this village - not living or dead - aside from some golems. There was a family of them at the General Store, and just now we fought a monk-like golem who was harassed by a roguish golem. Like my companion said, we were escorted here by Miss Persephone, but she went missing on the mountains. We found all these letters and notes around the village that imply a mage named Amara Jing came to this town right before the strange events started. Can you shed more light on the matter? It would be better if we could meet face-to-face. How can we get to where you are?" "Um...I'm Amara Jing..." the softer feminine voice answered. "Damn...well, can't say I blame Gideon for not trusting us, but it's a shame to hear they got to him and his family. The other two...it sounds like Kent's double, and maybe one of those bandits we had locked in the basement. Remind me again why you didn't destroy that one after the first wave of experiments?" "Mental reconditioning, Phase Two. We had this project all planned out, you know, we're not complete idiots." "Hmpf. Some plan. Well, to answer your question, lady, we're at the top of the tower, barricaded in. When the experiments started breaking out, we rushed everyone we could into the Sanctuary, the room behind that big heavy door you would have seen when you first came in. Unfortunately, a few of them managed to bust past our guard lines while we were sealing all the doors, so we have no idea how many may have made it inside--or outside, for that matter. There's a back way out, but I can't protect three civilians on my own--we've barricaded the lab, and hoped to gods the townspeople could handle the ones that made it inside the Sanctuary. I'm not holding out hope, though--it has to have been days, and you're the first ones who've come for us." "I don't know what you've read, but I guess I should probably explain what exactly happened..." Just then, a loud explosion resounded through the building, the echoes seeming to originate from the hallway to the left of where the party had entered. Dust rained down from the ceiling as the whole building vibrated. In the silence that followed, the faintest sound of clashing steel could be heard. "No time for that, Amara. Sounds like they just blew the basement staircase. That means containment's failed." The party heard the woman take a deep breath. "I'm not sure exactly where you're at, but I'm guessing you can't be very far in. There's a hallway on the bottom floor that curves around the outer edge of the Tower. At one point, though, it turns sharply right. The door at the turn is the Security Room, and that's where you'll find the controls to open up the Sanctuary Door. You'll have to make it through the Sanctuary to get to where we are. My second-in-command, Lieutenant Huxley, should have the key to the Security Room--if he's still alive. And hurry--Ming claims his family built this place to be indestructible, but blowing up a building's basement generally doesn't bode well for the structure on top of it." Would the party ask any more of the four individuals speaking through the vents, or would the move forward with their mission? Edited December 13, 2014 by Flipz Quote

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the party pressed onward, the sound of sword-on-sword growing greatly as they progressed. Suddenly, screams of pain sounded, followed by the sound of metal crashing to the floor. Running forward, the party bore witness to a gruesome sight. "The captain, he is escaping... let him go for now. There is nowhere he can run." Hybros prepared two fists of darkness from the front row, aiming towards Golem Junior Skirmishers A and B. QM Note: I strikethrough throwing weapons when they're thrown, to help indicate they need to be retrieved; doing so for the enemies (while also striking through their *Back Row* tags) is my way of indicating they've thrown their weapons. In this case, all of the enemies are currently on the Front Row except for Skirmisher A, so Skirmisher A is not encouraging any other enemies, nor is he being encouraged by any.
