Hinckley Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 in my opinion by buying these items you are proving your diehard fanship. You are telling people you don't just like lego, but that it is na big part of your life and hence you'd like to be respected for it. Also if you have really big moc's, put em on display. Right where everybody has to see them, this leads to less "ahh cute!" and more "cool!". People have all sorts of reasons for buying or not buying them. No one is more of a die hard fan because they buy accessories. People who don't buy them may be seen as die hard fans because they're saving their money for actual LEGOs instead. Again, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Here we are just discussing the differences. I keep my MOCs locked up because I don't want people touching them. I show my layout to the people I trust. edit: also don't you think by calling these things crap, you're not really respecting my opinion, even though you alledge to come from the schol of thought where we 'are' entitled to our own opinions? Nope! Quote
Imperial Dawg Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Well, some of these items really look great. I personally own the LEGO hifi and Salt & Pepper shakers. :-D Just look at it as a designer item, such as B&O hifi or Alessi kitchenware. It will definitely add a nice touch to your room or kitchen. Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Is this a bad time to state that a lego ice cube tray would amuse me? :P Quote
Norrington Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) I have nothing against you if you want to buy these things, all I'm saying is you couldn't give it away to me. Well, it is free... :-P I'd like to close by reaching out to my crap-loving brothers and sisters: I love you! *wub* we are united by LEGO forever... Um, about you "Loving me"... That qaulifies as Sexual Harrasment, am I am filing a class action lawsuit. X-D well you aren't because if you were then you'd know the plural of Lego is Lego. What is this Legos? He was refering to the set as LEGO, not LEGO sets, so LEGO(set)s. Is this a bad time to state that a lego ice cube tray would amuse me? :P No, because I am amused by it too! Escpecially filling them with Root Beer and sucking on the Root Beer ice cubes... YUM *sweet* Edited July 3, 2007 by Norrington Quote
Starwars4J Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I have one of these and I don't regret it. It's a nice way to mix up a cold glass of water on a summer's day Quote

I want to make it very clear that I did not, nor will I apologize to you for anything I've said in this thread. EDIT: Sorry to take a break for dramatic relief. Fun on! Izzy, root beer is a soda. Don't have it in Australia, huh? I wonder the origin of root beer. Geez, I almost regret not getting the free ice cube tray, now...almost X-D Quote

We have Ginger Beer, and Ginger Ale and Dry Drinking Ginger Ale. But no Root Beer. Probably because 'root' means 'to fornicate' here in Aussie land. tee hee hee X-D . Quote

Although with that definition root beer has a whole new meaning. God knows I've had nights like that... :-X :-$ EDIT: Root Beer on Wikipedia Quote
Izzy Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Yes...my friend's Aussie fiance that I mentioned to you earlier once gave me very good advice about never asking an aussie woman what team she's rooting for... Route 66 anyone? We pronounce that a little different also. hehe :-P ! I hope you pronounce Aussie as Ozzie not Ossy Milhouse! That's the worst. Ginger Beer is not beer either. Its Soda. But Ginger and in a beer shaped and colored bottle. Makes little kids feel naughty when they drink it. Teehehe! Quote

(though on another note, I have been told when I try to impersonate the "aussy" accent I do quite well ;-)) Oooh you're mean *sad* ! I'd have to hear it to believe it sorry. Every American film I have seen with an "Aussie" in it, they have used an American and they sound either British or South African. (and DO NOT even say they are the same) Arrrrgh! :-P Ossy on OFF!!! xwingyoda Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 more crap boo! to you big time !! BOO !! I have a lot of these ice cubes, + a lot of other stuff and I love them !! Ginger Beer is not beer either. Its Soda. But Ginger and in a beer shaped and colored bottle. Makes little kids feel naughty when they drink it. Teehehe! Tss, Tss my dear !!! Ginger as aphrodiasiac is a myth !! I thought a lady as yourselve would know that :-P *yoda* Quote
Hinckley Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 boo! to you big time !! BOO !! *yoda* I've been booed! Ow! It stings! Well, well, well. It seems the boo-er has become the boo-ee. And I see your boo is bigger than mine. Please accept my deepest apologies if I have in any way offended you *yoda*. As I've said before, if you like this stuff, more power to you, great. *y* I just don't want any of it, even if it's free. It's not incentive for me to spend more money on SAH. We all spend a lot of money on SAH and a reward is nice, but I think a better reward that everyone could enjoy would be something made of LEGOs. Furthermore, it aggravates me to see them producing this...stuff...when the quality of their bricks is slipping. They're spending money manufacturing (or outsourcing the manufacturing) and developing this line of...stuff...when they should be spending it on quality control. Looking over this thread, I think it's really beautiful how everyone has a different opinion and there are all types of people out there. Even though we don't all see eye to eye we respect eachother and are united by our love for LEGO. :'-) But, A Jell-O mold? That's just f-ed up! ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) Quote
Siegfried Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Gee, us poor Australians get nothing free except over priced shipping! :-( I like the ice cube idea (as well as the egg timer, salt shaker...) and plan on buying one the next S@H order that I do. Could you accept it next time and send it to me? :-P But, A Jell-O mold? That's just f-ed up! ...and I want that one too! Quote

Yes, I will accept the ice cube tray and send it to you next time. I'm sorry Sinner. I'm sorry for being a typical American and not being grateful for what I have, a bunch of crappy kitchen products...NO! No, I won't be cynical. Not now! I started this thread because I thought it would make people laugh and it's making people cry...boo. :'-( I wanted everyone to laugh and say "look at Hinckley, he's funny", but now they're all crying and saying "look at Hinckley, boo hinckley! He's a meanie." All I ever wanted was to be loved. But now I've hurt everyone and ridiculed their feelings and for that I apologize to everyone...except john cleese. X-D I stand by my opinion that I think this stuff is crap but am more than happy to ship it to those less fortunate than I if I ever get my hands on some free crap! *sweet* How's that? Quote

Hinckley Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Thanks you big lugs! *wub* Sinner 75% of what I say is at most 75% sincere. I tend to joke a lot. Thank you however for the re-assurance. I am mostly being silly. After all, in the grand scheme of things an ice cube tray doesn't hold much importance, just water...then ice. Sometimes, chocolate, root beer and apparently red bull. Hey, sorry our chocolate is so manufactured over here! :-$ Americans like things fast and cheap :-( I like your sig fig. I have a fascination with Fabuland and I love to see a Fabuland fig in an avatar! copmike my 7 out of 10 brother. If I get my hands on a tray I will save one for you too. I am also a soda addict. When I quit smoking (5 years ago! *sweet* after 10 years of smoking... >:-( ) I switched to diet because I gained a few pounds and the big problem was I had a huge sugar craving after I quit. There are always Diet Dr. Pepper cans all over my layout table... X-D What started out as a rant has become a product placement thread! Quote
Norrington Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Ah, well this is getting pretty off-topic. First it was about ice-cubes, then fornication in Australlia, and now we're talking about Pepsi and Dr.Pepper! What I learned from this is: I'm never, ever, going to Aussie Land. :-P Edited July 3, 2007 by Norrington Quote
