LEGO group should not be political. Bowing down to special interest groups and lobbyists whether its environmental issues or religion is political.

This is a kids toy. It's supposed to be about fun! They should leave the damn politics out of it.

Hammer on the head. I was almost embarassed to see LEGO bashed by people who I politically support over "caving in" to Greenpeace. I was glad LEGO backed away completely and stated that they wanted no part in any political crap from Greenpeace OR Shell.

Then they should stop those sponsorships and use their own brands. Sadly, Lego is a toy maker but also a company who needs a lot of money to stay alive. And people love to see their favorite brands on their favorite toys, isn't it ?

I would like if LEGO again did a partnership with ExxonMobil. In fact, I already know how it could go: have Exxon branded tankers, gas stations and train tankers for the USA, and Mobil branded tankers, gas stations, and train tankers for the rest of the world. But that will never happen.

Mobil also has gas stations in the USA as well (They were once called Socony, a.k.a. Standard Oil Company of New York).

If they did make LEGO gas stations/truck stops/tow trucks/oil tankers featuring Exxon and Mobil, maybe they could include both gas station designs, including Mobil (blue canopy with Pegasus mascot) and alternate Exxon station model build (red canopy with Tiger mascot).

If LEGO went ahead with the ExxonMobil license, LEGO would include both the Exxon station's and Mobil station's design on the box (Exxon on front of box, Mobil on back), and two sheets of stickers, as well as extra colored bricks representing each brand's canopy (red for Exxon, blue for Mobil with round plate featuring the Pegasus mascot), they would likely use Esso brand in Europe and Mobil (without the alternate Exxon model) in Australia and New Zealand.

Ideas for models include:

* Service Station/Convenience Store with Gas Pumps

* Oil Tankers

* Truck Stop

* Tow Truck

* Car Wash

...But unfortunately after that disaster with Shell and Greenpeace, I do think LEGO should just stick to branding their gas stations as Octan (for LEGO System/Duplo/Technic/Dacta) or FUEL 4 Speed (LEGO Tiny Turbos).

Sad to see Shell go. Seeing Lego is made of plastic though, it means every Lego set promotes big oil. Cheers.

This entire argument always astonishes me. Lego is from Denmark. They are one of the largest and most succesful businesses in Denmark. A huge exporter that helps drive Denmarks Social Welfare State. You know what the other big Denmark business is? The other big export? The one that actually does pay for the beloved Danish Social Services such as cradle to grave healthcare? It's the Danish Energy industry. It's oil. Why oh why would Lego, arguably one of the worlds largest plastics manufacturers, knuckle under to or side with Greenpeace, a group often categorized as Eco terrorists, in order to send their economy and society crashing towards bankruptcy?
