Auranapse Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) I'm an idiot. Anyway to get this part as quickly as possible? I'm located at Singapore. :( Edited November 6, 2014 by Auranapse Quote
AndyCW Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Wow! On your rebuild try using a longer axle through the hub and through the wheel to add stability. v/r Andy Quote
Auranapse Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Wow! On your rebuild try using a longer axle through the hub and through the wheel to add stability. v/r Andy Yea I'll definitely do that. Luckily that was the only thing damaged. The rest of the model was completely intact though (no loosened parts), so all that force went into breaking the portal axle :'( Quote
Corvette3 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 If you are careful, you might be able to superglue the pin back on, superglue has a somewhat low tolerance for torque though, i have also tried Araldite on a split gear, and that works great. Quote
aol000xw Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) If you are in a hurry and got some tools.... Remove the part. Drill through the small hole where the pin was with a metric 2 or 3 bit. On the opposite side of where the snapped pin was make room for a nail head with a countersink bit Now find a suitable nail and cut its length if necessary so when put through both parts it is a couple millimeters shorter. Get some fast drying epoxy and glue the snapped pin using the nail as a reinforcement. In 10 minutes you may have the part working almost as new. It could be done with a screw instead but it is a bit more complicated. Edited November 6, 2014 by aol000xw Quote
NXT45 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 If that part is new and it had little stress marks out of the box then you could ask LEGO for a new one. Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 What a strong model! A simillar thing happened to me when some wood panel dropped on my 41999 and one wheel got detached, but not broken. Quote
Nalyd997 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Just go to Lego customer service and then click on bricks and peices and go from there. It just depends if it broke while building Quote
aol000xw Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Not a defective part, the wheel loader viciously dropped the crawler from the bed to the ground. Quote
Balrog Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Learning the hard way is always tough. Next time, do something like that on the ground Quote
Auranapse Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) I should point out that I didn't intend to drop it off the bed. I think it broke because the suspension wasn't able to compress enough to absorb the shock, and it couldn't come off like my old earlier model(which I also dropped from the bed while climbing) since it's been blocked. http://imgur.com/f46Q9p2 Edited November 7, 2014 by Auranapse Quote
DrJB Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Lego will gladly (or at least they did for me on 2-3 occasions) replace broken/missing pieces. Remember, sending you a free/replacement part is an investment for them ... small price for them to pay to earn your trust (and $$$). That said, just go to their web site and request a missing/broken/replacement part. Edited November 7, 2014 by DrJB Quote
