Could have been a little bigger but looks excellent nonetheless, there seem to be a lot of accessories that are worth getting. Those Chinese take aways look good.

I like it, even though it seems like an important piece is missing in the final product which was in the original ideas set: The rubicks tissue dice. :(

Nonetheless, definately gonna get it.

It doesn't sound like you were going to buy it in the first place. If you don't like licensed themes, that's fine, but some of us do. And Star Wars has some of the best builds in Lego. Of course there's room for improvement, even among City.

Actually, a decent living room interior would have been quite a welcome addition to my collection!

The design closely matches that of the original idea, but that is not always a good thing (see Back to the Future set). I think if they simply tiled over the exposed studs on the floor, the set would look much better and more display-worthy. Even the large Simpson's House manages to tile all its floors. But the original had exposed studs on the floor and that is the design we voted for. If I get this set, that would be my first mod. Or perhaps move them into an empty floor in one of my modulars.

The standouts are the minifigures. My only regret is that the females torsos have exposed skin, which makes it harder to re-use them.

There aren't that many licensed elements in the set, other than the flash shirt and maybe the green lantern. I suspect the high cost is from having to license the likeness of each actor represented.

And the trouble with stickers, if they have to print at least one, they might as well print enough to fill the whole sheet...

So, because it is a Lego Ideas set we can assume everything is printed?

(Especially the take out bricks?) :moar: <-- Finally, this emoji makes sense in a situation :head_back:

Well, those Chinese take-out bricks are perfect for a Chinese restaurant MOC I'm making. I hope they become available in other sets (or at least have decent aftermarket prices).

Not everything, but the takeout bricks definitely are. (And the Chinese character on the side translates to "rice," if anyone's wondering.)

That is great.  So which are stickers?

I think it will be a long time before we get another 'tv set' set as it turns out its not that interesting if Lego don't add in all the little extras that make it special like batman fig, death star, and so on.

This will probably be the first Ideas project I pick up on day one. As nice looking as sets like the Mars Land Rover and Birds projects are, they just don't have that much appeal to me. Plus I can fairly easily buy the bricks and make them myself.

I know a lot of people complain about Ideas being clogged with licensed products, but I am kind of glad they are. It's a way to get exclusive prints we may otherwise never get. The Big Bang Theory license doesn't really support more than one set. I mean sure we could get a comic shop with the gang in super hero uniforms, or a hut with them in paintball gear, but really one set is more than enough to cover the license. Ideas is a perfect outlet for things like this.

Overall I think the set looks fairly good. Sure it's not perfect, and sure the minifigures could use some more fitting hair pieces or more detailed prints, but overall it seems like a fairly good set. I will get it and display it in my office.

Ok.... I don't get why this took so long for being designed.... It's quite simple.

By the way, it's good to see LEGO is introducing moulded arms and printed legs in the Ideas sets.

That raises my hopes for the future

As for this set, I have to say this is the worst LEGO Ideas set so far.... It's not even an idea

Take away the minifigures and you have a poorly built living room with badly designed furniture. Looking only at the minifigures and you have 7 figures that only bear a passing resemblance to the characters from the show. I think it's a real pity Lego doesn't invest more into its own core themes (such as City) but as long as fanboys & girls continue to throw money at buying licensed sets (when really all they seem to want is the minifigs, particularly as the actual construction element of many licensed sets are pretty weak), Lego will continue to churn out more rubbish like this. Don't get me wrong, I like the show a lot but it doesn't need to be represented in Lego. I worry about the future of my favourite hobby.

*sigh*

To each his own. I'm actually not a fan of the show, but I do think this is a pretty well-done living room and set of furniture - perhaps not so glorious as some of the more accomplished MOCs I've seen, but hardly bad. In all honesty, I like this set a lot more than I like the actual show.

I hear you re: licensed sets and themes, but keep in mind they help expand the hobby overall, rather than simply displacing non-licensed ones. Lots of people get brought in - I myself was finally lured back out of my dark ages by LEGO Star Wars, but since that (re)entry point brought me back I've gotten into City, Castle, Creator, Friends, and plenty of others.

Moreover, Ideas projects for licensed entertainment properties naturally attract fans of those properties, who might not even be LEGO fans, and one can't fault them for that. Note, too, that while licensed themes attract more votes (simply because members of those fandoms who aren't necessarily also LEGO fans come in and vote), the disproportionate attention those projects get when gathering support is offset by the increased scrutiny they face in the review, so that while licensed projects dominate the review batches, a smaller percentage of them actually get approved, so the final mix of official sets between licensed and non-licensed is close to half - at the moment, of the 13 CUUSOO / Ideas projects approved to date, six are licensed and seven are not.

Instant buy for me for sure, I wonder what the price in AUD will be ?

Now those who are complaining about the build, remember price point......most of the Cuusoo/Ideas sets are roughly the same price so the build most fit that price point and it's the minifigs that really sell the set. .

Exactly, my story was like this i liked Lego as a kid had some sets etc, but back in 2009/2010 there was a small Lego set on the market with some sort of Ninja Assasin in it, the set looked cool so i bought it i googled the movie and found it was a great movie wich brought me in to buying most of the other sets (Prince of Persia) then Pirates of the Carribean came next and so forth

If it weren't for Lego i'd never seen a Marvel movie so i think i can quite thank Lego Licensed Themes for giving my Joy in hard times...

Completely agree, first for me as well!

The set itself is very similar to the show and the original project concept. I've compared the all three and they are all almost identical. The original fan creation was slightly over done. The set is a very nice shelve or desk piece that the LEGO Ideas set have come to show. This set must have the most simplest box design in LEGO history!

I like the number of minifigures and printed pieces we will get. I feel the miniature statues could have been printed like those included in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier (76042) which could have appealed to comic book collectors and encourage them to purchase the set. Most notable comic book references are the Flash t-shirt and the Green Lantern build, I think that could have also included a printed Green Lantern Corps logo. The characters are very recognisable and come with very nice printed torsos and legs.

The price has caused lots of controversy due to the size of the set. It's been like that with all of these LEGO Ideas sets so I don't know why people are nagging. The overall footprint is the largest for any LEGO Ideas set. New printed elements and licences could be a reason why most of these Ideas sets are priced so high in comparison to normal licenced sets. What this looks like it lacks is new or interesting building techniques like the DeLorean, Ghostbusters, Exo-Suit, Birds which were an education and a joy to build.

This will defiantly be added to my collection of LEGO Ideas sets. Currently I own most of them besides the first two and the Mars Rover. I cannot wait to see pictures of the Wall E, Doctor Who and Marble Maze sets!
