Apparently there was an embargo on showing anything until the 9th which was pointed out to them so they took it down before LEGO got annoyed with them.

I know I'm entering this discussion a bit late but I just recently found Eurobricks. I'll start off by saying that I am a fan of TBBT but not a fan of this set. I was very disappointed with the minifigures. The only one I think looks spot on is Raj. If you put a picture of the Penny minifigure by itself and didn't tell anyone who it was supposed to be no one would be able to tell who it was. :hmpf_bad:

Now my main reason for posting. I do not understand why so many people think this show is slamming nerds. I don't consider myself a nerd as in the Revenge of the Nerds sense, but these have been my interests for the past 44 years (in no particular order):

Star Wars. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Blade Runner. Harrison Ford is my favorite actor so just about every movie he's been in. Marvel and DC superheroes. Conan the Barbarian. Magic the Gathering. Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh. Lord of the Rings. Hero Clix. Mage Knight. Muppets. Looney Tunes. Stephen King. Edgar Allen Poe. Charles Dickens. Disney. Frank Frazetta. Monster Rancher. SCI FI, Fantasy and Horror in general. Classic Monsters. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Musicals. A million other nerdy things!

I've collected toys, comic books, trading cards, T-shirts, drinking glasses, books, sheets, videos, soundtracks, sneakers, lunchboxes, Happy Meal boxes, plates, figurines, posters, breakfast cereal boxes and a million other nerdy things based on the above catagories.

I was pretty much a loner in school and could probably still be considered one today (especially by me). I had to put up with bullies, and sometimes still do. :sceptic:

I play with LEGO! I'm a nerd and if you're reading this because you play with LEGO, you are too! :sweet:

I don't think The Big Bang Theory is slamming the people who are into all of these things. I relate to the show because the characters are people who are into the same things I have always been into and act the same way I or some of the people I've known have in real life. It's about being able to laugh at yourself and the people you're playing D&D with.

There's a lot more I could say about what's been said in this thread but as I mentioned earlier I know I'm entering this conversation a little late so I'll refrain. :sadnew:

I will end by saying that I feel that LEGO should not accept another idea from someone who has already had one of their ideas created by LEGO.

Actually, I will end by saying that I was more impressed with the popular Golden Girls idea than this BBT set.

I don't understand why a sitcom is turned into a Lego set.

What will the playfeatures be, an instructionbook full of jokes?

Edit: I see a page back my question answered, but I still don't understand it.

1) people indicated they would buy it and because they think it will make money

2) you can move the figures around and role play them, etc, or just display it, like many sets.

It's a set aimed mainly at adults, there don't need to be a ton of "play features". It has lots of other desirable aspects such as new minifigure prints, new printed pieces, great display value, and some decent parts. Plus people who love the show will want to have the cast in minifig form.

It's all about the money, dum dum dum.

I know.

Still, to me, the set looks really boring.

They could have added some staircase scene with the broken elevator. I mean, it's just a wall, where are the nice building techniques?

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but i expect something more from lego ideas.

This is exaclty what 10 000 people voted for and they got it. It's a display set not a playset.

That is what you should expect from lego ideas, that the ideas voted for gets made.

No thanks. The set is already going to run $60. I would rather not have it be $100+ just to add a broken elevator (that never gets used in the show), or a stair case. We get the main location from the show which is more than enough imo. It will make a great display piece. I'm not even sure how a stair case or broken elevator would make this set more interesting?

If you want more, you always can MOC your own. I would rather have the option to buy a cheaper set and add on to it than be forced to pay $100+ and get something bigger than I want just so I can get the exclusive printed minifigs.

I was just messing around. If you saw my earlier post pre-edit, you would have seen the laughing emoji I put up. I took it down since I thought the comedic effect would be clear.

I've got two complaints with this set. Number one-Bernadette is supposed to be short. So why did they give her normal legs ? Second-why didn't they give Sheldon long legs ? He is fracking giant in the show. Also, no offense, but Amy should be uglier.

Most likely, I shall purchase this set once it comes out, since me and my roommate are obsessed with Big Bang Theory.

I get kind of tired of people complaining about some minifigures not using the Woody legs. Why should they? Those are HUGE! They wouldn't look right at all on any minifigure besides Woody or Jessie.

She is not even close to that short and he is not even close to that long. you don't seem to understand how lego does things.

She is shorter than a normal character, and Lego usually represents that with small legs. Maybe you are right about Sheldon, but I was just looking at the original idea, in which he had Woody legs.

They've only really done that with penguin.

The rest is dwarves, hobbits, children and special creatures like Dobby and Yoda.

Not really. There is a distribution of heights in real life that get mapped onto the standard minifig, then characters that are necessarily smaller get the short legs. So Harry Potter is the same height as Voldemort in minifig form. If HP was shorter, then there would be a problem with Dobby.

Plus she is not significantly shorter than Howard or Leonard.

That's a good point. She's pretty similar in height to Howard.

Really though Lego might have to introduce a new height of legs at some point. I've always thought a pair of legs one stud shorter would really be useful especially for teenaged characters. And as there's more and more licensed characters with varying heights it might be the next step needed to maintain character accuracy.

I hope not, as they will lose functionality. They don't really need such character accuracy. They are minifigs, not detailed action dolls / toys. Then consider the width / height ratio or the depth / width ratio, they are completely wrong. We don't need them changing these hings just to look like a real character, or else we will just end up with a whole range of Friends style minidolls. They have their place, but hopefully not in the majority of mainstream sets.

You could just add 1x1 plates to your figures and call them shoes.
