Legocity2713 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Just letting you know what just2good said. Hope theres more though... Yeah, Big Bang just means a new original theme, replacing Chima in this case. Referred to as "Big Bang" since it is slated to make a "bang" amongst the community and be a cash grubber for Lego. Quote

jonwil Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Just ordered this from Shop @ Home, cant wait for it to arrive, such a huge fan of the show (close to the best live-action sitcom currently on TV). And its been said before but I recon TLG should give the Big Bang Theory producers some copies of this set and see if they want to work it into the show somehow, it would be very funny :) Quote
Adeel Zubair Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I got the Ferrari F40 today instead; the similar prices between the two decided that it was better value and overall a better product than this. Quote
Khorne Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I got the Ferrari F40 today instead; the similar prices between the two decided that it was better value and overall a better product than this. It depends on what you prefer I guess. I admit this set is an expensive one in terms of parts/price ratio, but me personally, I'd rather have the Big Bang set than the Ferrari F40 . That being said: I just ordered this bad boy, can't wait for it to arrive . Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Similar price compared to Ferrari/Big Bang?? One is $100 and the other is $60. That's almost half as expensive. Either way, I ordered BBT this morning. It should be fun to have in my collection. I'd love to see Sheldon pretending he designed it and they were using it to demonstrate a scheme they were hatching...(or something, I'm not a writer). Quote
aRowlingStone Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) This needed to be done as soon as I got the set! Edited August 2, 2015 by aRowlingStone Quote
Silent Nomad Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I suggested that a few pages back. I'm glad to see it looks just as good as I pictured it. Quote
ARSLOCK Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 on the fence on this one - you think it'll be around for a long time? i think LEGO made too many of the exo suit after it ran out the first time, and that's why it's still available but it does seem the licensed ideas set stick around a bit longer... hmm Quote
kevkipo Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Going in on the Lego Store by the end of the week... should i or should i not. At first it was a must buy for me... but 65 Euro's? man talk about a price. Considering i'm going to make this giant thing in IRL by the end of the week, need all the money i can gather Quote

At first it was a must buy for me... but 65 Euro's? man talk about a price. €65 is definitely a steep price when you see the final build. It's not all that big, the main attraction is obviously the figs. Still, I have no regrets that I bought this set. It's an awesome display piece for anyone who's a fan of the show. If I wasn't a fan of the show, I wouldn't have bought it: you can get much better sets for that price. However, I am a fan, so no regrets. Kind of depends on how much you're into TBBT and what your priorities are, I guess . Quote

Was it worth it to anyone who bought it? Hell yes, because they were fans of the show and it made an excellent display piece. Otherwise, it's just a set with absolutely terrible value. Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Barnes & Noble is selling the set for $54! What a discount! Quote

Vindicare Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Seeing Sheldon up there dressed as the Scarlet Speedster, and remembering that episode. Leonard dressed as Green Lantern....bit what about Howard/Raj? I'm thinking Howard was Batman, but what about Raj? I'm assuming it was either Superman or Aquaman(probably not Manhunter ). Quote
Douglas_Jon Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Has anyone managed to find this set anywhere in the UK other than official Lego stores? Quote

Legocity2713 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Just went to the Lego Store to check out what they had in stock as far as all these new August 1st releases go. I picked up the Carnage set and saw that they had a plethora of Big Bang Theory sets. I mean 15+ easily plus what they most likely have in the back. Seeing it on display and in person was cool, but they did a horrible job showing it off at the front of the store, where it gets really overshadowed by the Modulars and other D2C sets. IMO it should have been shown inside the store somewhere near the register. I've seen this done in a bunch of Lego Stores and it was really ill-thoughtout. I'm not sure if I still want to get it. The price is throwing me off and I really only want it for a few parts. I'm not a great fan of the show, so I might just be scouring on brick link for the takeout boxes and the micro figs. But I'll watch a few more reviews and see if that changes my mind. It is really useful for an Stark Tower vignette/scene/MOC that I have been planning and it is a great display piece all together, so I really am torn. Edited August 9, 2015 by Legocity2713 Quote
Off the wall Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Just finished the build. For me it was more about TBBT than it was about Lego. Sure, relative to other sets on a price per piece basis, it's probably expensive. Nothing really challenging or different. But as a fan of TBBT, I like it. Also bought the F40 which looks so stubby it's almost as if someone has parked a real F40 in front of one of those carnival mirrors. I may build my next modular apartment building around TBBT set. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Raj wanted to be Wonder Woman since Penny refused and he hates Aquaman (but ultimately only because his costume wasn't a good choice). With that said, I love the set. Huge fan of TBBT and this set was well worth it. Although I will extend it to include the kitchen and front door. Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I just got the set, and I love it! Only thing I have to complain about is that the box is a little misleading, Penny can't sit on the couch without her hair being in the way. Quote

Also that horrible chair that the figures can't actually sit on! Quote

Only thing I have to complain about is that the box is a little misleading, Penny can't sit on the couch without her hair being in the way. Well, she can. She just leans forward a bit more than the rest. It's not too noticeable. I absolutely love the set. The build wasn't anything exciting(no "oh cool" moments). But the finished product is great. While the price is a bit steep, it's probably worth it. I haven't looked into it, but I imagine each fig would go for $10 +/- on the secondary market, so the pieces are essentially a bonus. Plus, I finally have one of those more size appropriate dogs, very cute! Quote
