Off the wall Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I just got the set, and I love it! Only thing I have to complain about is that the box is a little misleading, Penny can't sit on the couch without her hair being in the way. Agreed. Looks like she needs to visit a chiropractor. Quote
Dennan Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Yesterday I saw the actual set for the first time, and I'm really dissapointed. In France it's even cheaper then in The Netherlands (€59,95 - €64,95) but still found the item too expensive. It just soo small and the actual value probably is in the minifigs. Quote
Karalora Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Apart from the eternal battle between Penny's hair and the couch back, I'm pretty pleased with this set. What really sells it are the number of small details--all the mini-builds representing specific, recognizable things in the apartment. I'm also impressed by the extent to which the characters' personalities come through in the printing of the minifig heads. Both Amy and Bernadette wear glasses and have big grins (on one side), but there's a noticeable difference between Amy's earnest, oh-boy-I-have-friends-now enthusiasm and Bernadette's semi-forced, repressive-upbringing cheerfulness. Deathleech Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Not really sure why people are complaining about the value. It's $60 for 484 pieces... that comes out to be right around 12 cents per brick. That's not too far off from the golden 10 cents per piece, especially when you consider Lego had to get the license for (presumably) one set, and all the characters have their own unique prints. Of course in other countries it's higher.. but so is all Lego. Quote

Not to mention dual-molded arms, a pair of dual-molded legs, printing over dual-molded legs, as well as the fact that there's seven figures and plenty of new colors. $60 USD is a bit on the expensive side, but I think it's worth it. jonwil Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Can anyone who knows more about the show than me tell me whether the forks the guys are using to eat chinese food are correct? My memory suggests they are using chopsticks for chinese takeaway rather than forks but I could be wrong. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) I just typed big bang theory chinese food in google and all of the pictures show them they are using chopsticks. But LEGO has no reason to make a new mold of chopsticks when a fork will work just as well. Plus, they use forks for Thai food, so it's a catch-all I'm sure. (Plus the rule of no new molds in IDEAS sets) Edited August 15, 2015 by TheLegoDr Quote
jonwil Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 My big bang theory set arrived (no thanks to the incompetent idiots at Australia Post who delivered it to "unit x number y" instead of "unit y number x") and I just finished putting it together. This is easily the best set of 2015 (only set that might challenge it is the Dr Who set once that is revealed) Quote
Silent Nomad Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Has anyone tried using Aquaman's hair in dark brown for Howard, to give him a more fitting style? The only other option I can think of is Ron Weasley's bowl cut in dark brown, but I'm not sure that'd look right. I'm also puzzling over a better style for Penny. Quote

I think Howard's and Penny's are fine as it is. But Leonard... That needs some change, i suggest you contact Deskp Quote
Silent Nomad Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I already have the hairpiece he suggested (on page 11), and I already have it reserved for that purpose. I'm also planning on using Leonard's original hair on Sheldon. I just don't think Penny's and Howard's hairs are quite right. Quote

Silent Nomad Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) It looks better than what he has by default, That hairpiece us much too thick for him. Also, This is my 100th post, so that's exciting. Edited August 19, 2015 by Silent Nomad Quote
K-Nut Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I think Howard would honestly look good with Leonard's hair. Quote
(1)Stein Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Apparently there will be a large TBBT set next year, I wander what it could be? Quote
CM4Sci Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Apparently there will be a large TBBT set next year, I wander what it could be? Nope. Where did you hear this? Quote
xtremeteamuk Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Unless it's the lab or penny's flat I don't see what they can do for a big set? Quote
Actor Builder Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) Apparently there will be a large TBBT set next year, I wander what it could be? Really? That's interesting. I can't really think of much they could make. If this is true, my best guess would be Stewart's Comic Book Store. That would be interesting. Edit: Just saw xtremeteamuk's post. I guess Penny's apartment and the elevator hallway would also be an option. Edited October 12, 2015 by Actor Builder Quote

jonwil Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 If LEGO does more BBT sets I am SO there, its such a cool show. Comic Book Store would be awesome (and through their relationship with WB/DC) a great way to put in a bunch more references to DC comics super heroes and things (they could print some LEGO comic book tiles too) Quote
Jern92 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 A set consisting of all the Lego sets ever built on the show? Quote
Karalora Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 The comic book store seems the most likely, if for no other reason than to include a new character minifig (Stewart). The first set already includes the entire core cast. I sure would like to see sets of Penny's apartment and the hallway, though--and link all three up together into a 2311 North Los Robles Avenue mega-set! Quote
