I'm very intrigued by these sets! To me they are much better than the ones we have on the shelves right now! They seem to have a way larger variety in color and bricks, even some pretty rare colors. May be very good as parts packs!

What do you guys think?? Does anybody have more info on these?

The first one you pictured and the last one look like they might be worthwhile purchases due to the color selection. Hmm, on second thought, maybe the the others as well, as it looks like they're starting to include a larger variety of part types in them. Usually the "brick boxes" were just that: bricks. These look like they've got slopes, SNOT bricks, arches, etc. Any info on pricing and part counts?

Those do look pretty promising! I'm sure this isn't the whole line of "basic brick pack" type sets, and I'm not trying to start discussion on this topic, but one thing I noticed is that they seem much more gender-neutral. As noted, they have a nice selection of colors, and that last one has a lot of pastels without being super-pink and obviously "girly" and the others don't stick just to the more primary colors. That's great!

I'm a little concerned that the pricing will be less than stellar, but the brick selection seems very nicely varied and interesting.

So for the bitches that say TLG don't sell a box of basic parts anymore, here you go.

I don't see these sets directed at kids as such. It's just a nice way to beef up your inventory (yes, most LEGO fans do not shop at BL/eBay/whatever, but just go to the nearest toyshop)

Anyway, they're often at sale (50%) in my country and then tend to be horded by AFOLs ...

Any info on pricing and part counts?

These seem to me like very fair prices, maybe even low for the amount of different parts and colors you get. But that all depends on the part count.

I was surprised by that too. When I heard the name 'Classic' I assumed they might be bringing back those boxes of red slopes, white bricks or old style windows and doors from the 90's, or even bring back modernized versions of the Legoland series.

I'm gonna guess they chose the name 'Classic' because having a big box full of bricks you can let your imagination run wild with, may be construed to be "the good old-fashioned way" to play with Lego. Just modernized with different colors and specialized parts.

I am interested in these. Since crawling out of my second dark age, I have been neglecting "brick bucket"-type acquisitions; and even without seeing the inventories, I can see some stuff here that I can put to good use. 10694 in particular looks like a good way to bulk up on Friends colours without busting my funds on a load of actual Friends sets.

These are great, so much better than the Basic brick sets.

I'm more excited for these than any other sets in 2015...

I would want to know the actual piece count, but the variety of non-basic bricks (SNOT bricks, slopes, windows, round bricks and trans-colors--including trans-dark green! My favorite!) will probably make me get one anyway. Or two..or three..

Yes it would. Classic BASIC sets of the 80'-90's contained just as many 'special' parts as regular sets. It would be proper to use the BASIC moniker for those buckets

While I disagree with the language there mister, I do know what you mean. Can you maybe tone it down, some of the members get offended by certain language use.

As for the name Classic, it makes sense. "Basic" refers to two negative things in my experience: Stuff for the decidedly not clever (one could even say very un-intelligent). Also, Basic as opposed to "premium" or "extra" or "special". Would you buy Special Baked Beans or Basic Baked Beans or even just Baked Beans.

Classic harks back to the "good old days" when every LEGO set involved building from bricks and no parts that were 'one use only'. I can see many a Library LEGO Club stocking up on this. It looks great for building up a collection too.

Still don't agree. You're right about the old Basic buckets having non-basic parts; windows, doors, arches, slopes and wheels, but not nearly as much as these seem to have (aforementioned, plus SNOTs, macaronis, studs, cylinders, etc etc etc). Not to mention the absolutely non-basic colors used here; I count about 24 colors in the bigger tub. That's substantially more than the basic red, blue, yellow, white and black we used to have in the 80's/90's, and still more than the buckets and boxes we have in the stores right now.

Hmm, never thought about it like that. But I have to somewhat agree; the name 'Basic' doesn't inherently have negative connotations, but it sure can have 'm. Interesting point! Even though most definitions of basic are more in the lines of "essential" and "fundamental".

There are more colours than in the old sets, simply because today there a much wider palette. There was plenty of sets back then with loads of special parts, like 744

I saw those baseplates on brickset a while ago. I wonder what size they will be? Since they have three of similar size. And at that price ppoint, you'd expect them to all be 48x48 which will be neat instead of just light bley. Granted, I don't love the price on the large baseplates. Last I saw 18 or 19$ at TRU..ridiculous.

Anyone else notice the various printed eye pieces? I can see a half open one and one with the eye closed. I sure hope these make it into other sets soon, or I may have to justify a Classic bucket purchase.

In my country we have no Lego Store and only limited numbers of toy stores in general so it looks like an excellent way to bulk up the bricks with an excellent colour selection and some very useful pieces.

These sets look great! A much wider color selection than the basic brick buckets I had when I was a kid... and despite the basic part selection, I do see some new parts, specifically the 1x1 round eye tiles with new expressions. They seem to have a great selection of newer colors like Medium Lavender and Medium Azur, and I might just buy some of these sets just for that since my collection is woefully lacking in parts in those colors!

It's a step in the right direction, but I still prefer the old Basic sets from the 80s. They had fewer colours, but that also meant that there were enough bricks and pieces of the same colour so that you could build something useful with whatever came in the box. Also, the selection of special pieces like doors, windows, slopes, trees, flowers and minifigs seems a bit more appealing to me.
