Two-Faced Batman Fan Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 From LOG: Legions of Gotham has confirmed with LEGO corporate... While LEGO will be producing more Batman product next year, there are currently no plans for LEGO toys based on the film 'The Dark Knight' I'm at least glad to hear Lego will be continuing Batman till next year *y* Quote
Brainbox Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Actually, I'm kind of pleased there're no sets based on the film. I'm happy with the more generic, comics-orientated sets. Doing 'The Dark Knight' would mean specific sets, and less villains. Hopefully we'll see more classic rogues and allies next year. Here's for Harley Quinn and Jim Gordon. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 While LEGO will be producing more Batman product next year, there are currently no plans for LEGO toys based on the film 'The Dark Knight' HUmm, I'm disappointed with that actually |-/ I would have thought that TLC expanded a bit the range of sets (like with SW and Indy) I would have loved a nice little tumbler :-/ Oh well, more Batman is always great news ;-) So many villains they can do hehe !! *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Crap!!! I was hoping for a tumbler >:-( I understand why tlc will continue with the batman theme they have, but i soooo wanted one of those bad boys..... moc time i guess then :-/ Quote
Joebot Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I'm just glad the theme is going to continue! I was disappointed this year to see Batman following what looked like the Viking pattern -- big splashy first year release, two sets the following year ... then nothing. I do agree with Brainbox about getting "classic" Batman sets unrelated to any specific movie. I think Lego should look to the Animated Series from the 90's for inspiration. That show had a terrific "timeless" style to it that is perfect for Lego sets. Although ... a Tumbler would be very cool. Especially if they did it at the same scale as the big Batmobile they came out with last year. Imagine a line of big, detailed Batmobiles from different eras and media. That would rock. Harley Quinn and Commissior Gordon are must-have figs, along with Batgirl. Seriously, they made frikkin' Nightwing before they made Batgirl?!?! Ugh. I'd love to see Ras al Ghul, and a Clayface (although I'm not sure how they would pull that off). That pretty much wraps up the A-list villains. After that are guys like Mad Hatter, Creeper, Ventriloquist, and Man-Bat. Would there be much of a demand for those more obscure characters? I know Lego's license is with DC, but does anybody know if the license encompasses the entire DC catalog? Or is it ONLY for the Batman family of characters?? Quote
Brainbox Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 (edited) I'm just glad the theme is going to continue! I was disappointed this year to see Batman following what looked like the Viking pattern -- big splashy first year release, two sets the following year ... then nothing. It sort of sputtered, didn't it? I do agree with Brainbox about getting "classic" Batman sets unrelated to any specific movie. I think Lego should look to the Animated Series from the 90's for inspiration. That show had a terrific "timeless" style to it that is perfect for Lego sets. Perhaps. But whether they did or not, I think we should definitely get more Batmobiles. I mean, Batman has a ton of them. There's one fabulous splash page in Hush pt. 8 (I think) where Batman and Nightwing have to chose a Batmobile, and there's loads, all from different eras. You could make each one completely different so as to keep interest, and have different villains/allies in the sets. Maybe some could be two-seaters. I'd also like to see a Batcycle, a bike for Robin, a Batplane. We've had a Batwing, but not a Batplane. The Batplane can take passengers. Although ... a Tumbler would be very cool. Especially if they did it at the same scale as the big Batmobile they came out with last year. Imagine a line of big, detailed Batmobiles from different eras and media. That would rock. You could choose from some great Batmobiles, and some of the Elseworlds ones could be done too. For example, the DKR Batmobile >:-) ! The Creeper isn't really a baddie, but yeah, it'd be good to see him. Actually, I'd rather see Babs as Oracle than Batgirl. If we were going to see Batgirl I'd prefer it to be Cassandra Cain. Yes, I know she's leading the League of Assassins now. There's also Robin's new costume to do. I think Nighting before Batgirl was the right choice. Nightwing was around first, albeit as Robin. How could you do Clayface? With a lot of brown... Man-Bat, Mad Hatter and Ventriloquist/Scarface would be great, as would Ras. As for obscure characters, it'd depend how obscure they were. Anarky might work, but would KGBeast (I'd have a KGBeast)? I suppose Black Mask is a bit obscure, but I'd like one. How about Red Hood. In fact, you could do Birds of Prey. Have Oracle, Huntress (new costume, with a bike) and Black Canary ( *wub* ), in Oracle's clocktower. I know Lego's license is with DC, but does anybody know if the license encompasses the entire DC catalog? Or is it ONLY for the Batman family of characters?? I think the original quote was "all available mediums in which Batman appears." So, technically, that could be other DC stuff. If not, I'd imagine it'd be easy to make it so it was. I'd love more DC characters. Superman, Wonder Woman (given her... relationship with Batman), Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, etc. The Watchtower must be a lonely place for Bats right now. Heck, even people like Zatanna, Green Arrow, Barda, Power Girl and Steel are must-haves. Especially Zatanna *wub* And, of course, there's the game coming out next year. We should've expected at least a few sets to come out in conjunction, perhaps with new figs of characters from the game. Edited July 8, 2007 by Brainbox Quote

"The Dark Knight Returns" Batmobile would be awesome. The new Bat-tank set seems somewhat reminiscent. I think a Batmobile set based on the old Adam West TV show would be hilarious. That could make a pretty nifty set with those three ladies. Do you suppose a Black Canary or Zatanna mini-fig would have legs printed with fishnet hose? As much as I'd love to see more Lego DC characters ... I think the appeal is mainly the mini-figs. I'm not sure what they would do for actual sets. Batman was clearly the best character to use since he has lots of vehicles that lend themselves well to being Lego-ized. Batman also has the best (and probably the most famous) Rogue's Gallery. But what the heck would a Green Lantern Lego set look like?? Or Flash?? Quote
Brainbox Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I think a Batmobile set based on the old Adam West TV show would be hilarious. As long as you drew eyebrows on Batman's cowl... Do you suppose a Black Canary or Zatanna mini-fig would have legs printed with fishnet hose? I'd certainly hope so! Or Flash?? You'd have to do versus sets, and sets with a number of figs in, who are somehow related. And there's bases. For example, you could do the Fortress of Solitude, and include Superman, Krypto, Lois Lane, Supergirl and Bizarro. Or Titans Tower with Robin, Cyborg, Wonder Girl, Deathstroke and Starfire. Green Lantern you could do a small set of green bricks, and include a few civilians, a rogue (say, Sinestro) and a bit of scenery to make it so it isn't a figure pack. Flash, you could stick him in a Watchtower set, or in a Javelin. Sure, there wouldn't be as much appeal as with Batman, but there's definitely some classic characters who need to be done. Trouble is though, once you do some of the icons, you have to do them all. For example, you can't do Supes without Lex Luthor, Bizarro or Mr Mxyzptlk. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I'm a little disappointed that there won't be any sets based on Batman Begins or the new movie, but on the other hand, I'm very excited that the theme will be continued. I thought it was going to die out, and then be replaced by a different hero. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 none on the movie??? Oh well, at least we still get sets. -ZotS Quote

Brainbox Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 (edited) what do you mean even people like Green Arrow, the Arrow is the man easily the best hero there has been. I just meant that they're not perhaps as well known as some other characters, especially the Big Three. And their rogues galleries don't really stand out. Apart from Deathstroke, I suppose.
