Peppermint_M Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 "There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it." I recall the first time I saw the teaser trailer for Brave. I loved the little will-o'-the-wisps. When LEGO brought out the Disney Princesses line and a Brave set was in the list, I knew right away what I would build and what I would do with it. After a lot of trial and error, some frustration and a little good fortune, I managed to build it to my vision. The lights are from an LED string, they are easy to come by this time of year. Hiding them within the MOC while still making things look good took some doing. It is a shame about the wires, but if I do display then they'll all be tucked out of the way. I have plans for a layout that moves from one tale set-piece to the next and will have plenty of features, so a little Frog Tape and clever frame building will hide the wire to the also concealed battery box. The unlit MOC. Just for more of an overview of it. Quote
Richila Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 This is cool. I may have to pick up some lights so I can play. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Nice work. Integrating lights is not that easy if you want to hide them from plane view. You did a great job. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 Thanks both. I was rather pleased with how it turned out. I was very glad of the huge number of vegetation parts I picked up in LEGOLand Germany the other year, not only did they allow me to hide the wires while still eltting the lights show correctly, they also gave texture to the ground and the pliability of the rubber-ish plastic let me build a slope too. Back to the Brick Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Nice and good building, the will-o'-the-wisps are very well made. Quote
