November 13, 201410 yr Author A long time ago in a galaxy .... when SoNE started, I had my first freebuild, which I mentioned about my ancestor and a holocron heirloom. Can I continue with the same ancestor and heirloom, or it has to be new entry with new features ? A new entry, that's for sure, and it's written in the rules You can keep the same ancestor, but I'd prefer if you use a different heirloom.
November 13, 201410 yr How long does the heirloom have to date back? Would a weapon from the 1800's work but over the course of years, it has been heavily modified or just a typical blaster under heavy modification? Either one works for me.

I'm willing to bet that no one in 6-BBY can date their history back that far after all the galaxy has been at blaster level technology since at least 100,000-BBY. that said weapon styles change quite a lot and it possible to have a blaster similar to a 1800's earth era muzzle loader.

Well the sandpeople did use rifles resembling muskets, and wookies still use crossbow resembling weapons, so i think imagination is ones only limitation. Besides star wars is in a galaxy far far away, any resemblance to our known weapons in this galaxy is merely coincidental Edited November 13, 201410 yr by Pointblank
November 16, 201410 yr My "character scene" is ready, I just have to take some photos ... This tag is a must-have!
November 18, 201410 yr question: what is the policy of using items already established in lore? things like Revan's mask, Malgus' armor, Pre Vizla's Darksaber, and similar things. an entry used one of those items and it has made me concerned.
November 18, 201410 yr I may have to redo my build then, I was going to make my item Vader's lightsaber that I stole from his room while he was in the bathroom. In all seriousness, I went very generic with my item on purpose.

You can check out the discussion on Pointblank's entry to see what's been said so far. I would say that as long as your story fits within what's already been established you'll be okay. I mean, that's what we are doing with SoNE anyway. Fitting it between Episodes 5 and 6 using the story line that already exists as a guideline
November 19, 201410 yr I may have to redo my build then, I was going to make my item Vader's lightsaber that I stole from his room while he was in the bathroom. In all seriousness, I went very generic with my item on purpose. Now that's commitment to the Empire. What were you doing in Vader's bedroom? Does he have a long .... arm ? I know having a widely popular thing is going to draw attention, which is why I skirted around the edges, and deliberately avoiding a direct reference to a popular item of lore. To be honest, I didn't know there were so many fans of the Clone Wars series, which I am a fan of too. I thought everyone here was OT centric. I love the Mandalorian culture, not much of that in OT unfortunately... IMHO, an heirloom can be a number of things, and it serves no real purpose than serving as a memento. A lot of heirlooms and their usage and their past has been overhyped anyway. . A rifle that killed a Zillo beast in one shot .. hehe.. was one of my ideas and I thought of creating a dead zillo's head alongside an ancestor I don't mean to draw a divide guys. Apologies for doing so.

I'd like people to stay away of items that they shouldn't possess, like Anakin's podracer, Tarfful's comb, Amidala's panties or the Deathly hallows... (oh wait, wrong license) Using a famous item, known in the whole galaxy, won't earn you more points. And I find it difficult to justify a story about it. There are a lot that can be said about everyday items and how/why they are important to you. Try to focus on the relation between you, the item and it's previous owner. I don't want to blame Pointblank for not following guidelines that weren't clear from the start. That said, there is still plenty of time to change an entry before the deadline...

I think I may have pushed the envelope too much, despite not making any direct reference in the story to the darksaber or named it as such and connecting the fact that there was relations between Vizla and PB. I actually wanted to focus on the code of warrior (hence the name), trying to play with words, and keeping a suspenseful "guess-what" nature of PB for longevity in the game, and not focussing on the blade/saber/hilt itself. However, I do recognise why some are passionate on it. Let me see if I can change it as its partially dismantled, time permitting. Worse case scenario, I can simply change by stating that it was the the sword that the losing combatant used , hence tweaking the story and modifying the current build by replacing the hilt with the sword under the bed. Really doesn't change much or at all about the build. Anyway, it has never been about the points. I am just sharing the build to show the mandalore affiliation and culture Armidala's panties would've been cool... Have fun building guys! Edited November 19, 201410 yr by Pointblank
November 19, 201410 yr As far as the canon concerns, I must say it's really cool to have such an item reference. The only problem might be two players claiming the same item ... but I guess it's first comes first serves. In CW series we all know Darth Maul was slain by Palpatine and that he had no interest in the blade itself, so it was most probably left lying on the ground. This way one must not even be Vizsla's son or grandson to own it now. Not even does he have to slay a mighty Sith for it. But I'd really like to find out how this particular character got hold of it! And I believe it's not about the points, it's just people sometimes try to use something well known from the universe to feel more connected. It's also more fun making a story around such items, keeping it as canon as possible. Besides CW itself has so many canon anomalies, it can clearly survive such a minor flaw - if there is any at all?! - even if this really is Vizsla's blade.
November 22, 201410 yr Well, I was building for the X-mas raffle, then I got it to big, too detailed and too pretty with much nice techniques, and it looked a bit too much like star wars.... So I transformed it entirely to a SW build Guess like I will have to participate in this episode then
December 4, 201410 yr Is there a possibility to extend time for a day or two? I'm really busy at the moment and I would really like to enter ...
December 6, 201410 yr One question: Is it also possible to do just one of the two builds? I may have problems with my availeble time so I am not sure if I would be able to make two.
December 6, 201410 yr Author No, you have to build both scene. The deadline will move; but we are discussing to decide how much it will move. We'll let you know as soon as we can.

Well, didn't see that one coming. Guess I will go for the minifig on a plate then, literally! Moving the deadline works fine for me then, thanks. Then we're at about 5 out of 7 episodes with a deadline moved, well I guess that's SoNE's policy then
December 7, 201410 yr Can my present scene be of me as a child finding the Heirloom? The narative would state that I'm remembering the day.
December 8, 201410 yr Author So after discussing it with the staff, we decided to move the deadline to January 4th.
December 8, 201410 yr So after discussing it with the staff, we decided to move the deadline to January 4th. Fantastic, I really needed that extra time. I guess you guys have been busy too?
December 8, 201410 yr Thanks, Bob, for extending the date to a fantastic one. I now feel relived since I'll be able to add parts I'll be getting around Christmas.
December 8, 201410 yr So very glad to see the new deadline, was logging in today to state I couldn't get a build done in time, with Jan as the date though, I should have time available to get a build done!
