Posted November 10, 201410 yr This is my 1st entry to the CCCXII - Category: The Best Intentions A Tatar in the wide plains of north-west asia has some problems with a tent, caused by speeding on horse. Thanks for commenting, I think there are coming a lot of castle builds until the end of the year.
November 10, 201410 yr Very nice build, Disco86! The mottling on the ground looks excellent. I particularly like that tent and the use of Ewok glider wings and PotC sails. The result is very realistic! Nice use of the Hun Warrior CMF as well! I think it might look better if there was more elevation difference in the ground than just one or two plates. The edges could be "hilled" up more than the path down the center. Brick on, Disco86!
November 10, 201410 yr WOW! Nice tent! Could you possibly place poles over each tent rope stake maybe with flags flying to keep horses and folks from running into the stakes and lines? I agree that some elevation differences would add interest to the "plains" which could be rolling hills in Mongolia. Your use of dark orange on the ground is really eye catching. And usually it seems that there are some sheep and/or goats close to the tents. (To see this, try watching the film Babies; one of the four children starring in the movie lives in Mongolia.)
November 13, 201410 yr Author Thanks for your comments ! I did not add to much elevation differences because I wanted it to look like a really flat plain. But you are right that it could have be done better. Actually the build was a little bit rushed :)
November 13, 201410 yr Author you are a really master in moc! I would like to see your lego room ! Thanks :) Here is a picture of my room:
November 13, 201410 yr wow, the colors of the steppe come very close to what I've seen in Iceland a few days ago! And nice tent too!
November 13, 201410 yr Great MOC. The tent is very well thought out (an inside look would be nice!). I like the landscape as well. But I would use the short bow for the Tatars, as these Asian nomads used short recurved bows instead of longbows... Edited November 13, 201410 yr by Ardelon
November 13, 201410 yr Nice MOC, great tent. I was wondering how it was done - thanks to Slegengr for the explanation. I am also impressed by your room! Brick on!
November 14, 201410 yr Another great Entry for the Contest, Disco! You seem to be quite busy these days:-) wish you all the best for the Contest!
November 17, 201410 yr Author Thanks a lot for your cool feedback ! wow, the colors of the steppe come very close to what I've seen in Iceland a few days ago! You make me jealous, would love to see Iceland too. Great MOC. The tent is very well thought out (an inside look would be nice!). I like the landscape as well. But I would use the short bow for the Tatars, as these Asian nomads used short recurved bows instead of longbows... There is nothing really special in the inside, the sails are fixed to the ground with 1x1 round plates and just one beam in the center of the tent, the shape comes just from the cloth itself. Thinking about the bows again you are absolutely right, should have been short bows. You seem to be quite busy these days:-) Yes there is a lot to build, but I am going to increase my building speed after this week, so there is a lot coming... I can imagine that was fun to build. Yes, because it was something totally different. Kind of difficult on some parts, but great experience !
November 17, 201410 yr Love it Disco!! The tent is awesome but the landscape really catch my eye! Also the base is top notch! Good luck to the contest.
