'If I had known cities are this big I would have stayed at home. My feet are sore, my legs cramp and my back aches. What are we looking for again?" Crius complained. "The spice quarter" Atlas replied "it is where most of spice islanders settle when coming to Barqa. We are bound to find some shelter here as well as a way to earn some coin". They had been walking around Barqa for hours, taking in the marvels and wonders of the magnificent city but truth be told Atlas was beginning to feel quite tired himself. "Remember brother, we are looking for a wall with torches build in alcoves and a white gate. That is where the spice quarter begins". "A gate like the one you are passing underneath now?" Crius replied.

Before them the narrow winded streets of the Spice quarter came in view. Tightly packed structures: houses, shops and places of worship all shouldering together leaving small winding alleys in between where the crowd had to shoulder it's way trough to get anywhere.

As they passed a fishmongers shop the smell of traditional spicy smoked fish brought memories of home to Atlas. 'I could use a good meal' Crius said, eying the smoked fish hanging from the overhead rack.

'Let us first find some shelter for the night brother and eat later. I am not planning on sleeping underneath the stars again. And keep your eyes out for a familiar face. Once we've found a place to stay we can figure out our next step'.

UPDATE:

I'd decide to enrol in the university of Petreaea and like claim credits for:

Roofing (for the log roofs)

Anthropology, city scene

Very nice, Hobbythom!

I like the architecture and the angled buildings. The minifigures are well-composed and nicely posed for the story. The double arch over the gate looks great, as do the bowl-torches in the alcoves on the wall. The colors work very well together.

Brick on, Hobbythom!

Welcome to Barqa!

Very nice city street scenes, I like how the buildings can be removed to show the street from the side as well :classic:

I also like the description of the Spice quarter.

Have you thought about claiming any University of Petraea credits for the build?

Definitely UoP +1 for Anthropolgy: City Scene and also for one of the three roofing techniques as well. For the other two I think I want to see some more of the techniques however to indicate "mastery of roofing techniques".

Please also post your claims in the UoP thread and when/if they are approved you should start a post in the UoP registrars thread and record the credits (with links to this thread). In that way it is super easy when you start to have lots of credits to know which ones you still need to claim or if you fulfill the requirements for a degree :classic:

Excellent city build, all of the buildings look great and fit in Kaliphlin well

The chimney you can see in the first picture looks a little big/bulky for that building, a smaller one would probably work better :classic:

Excellent job with the curves over the gate, those really make for the perfect shape! Overall the scene is very Kaliphlin like! +1 for 1 of 3 roofing techniques and the life in Kali credit!
