Kintobor Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 "No, they are not missing per se, although I told them to be home by suppertime. Needless to probably say, but their supper has gone cold on the table already. That is why I thought you might bring some bad news. Where they spend their days, gods only know. They are too old to be locked in their rooms, too." "Is there any particular place they'd hang out? You see, we're looking for some advice, seeing as how we we're looking to purchase a ship but was hoping on some expert's opinion. We were told to come to you. Perhaps we could find them for you?" Annienal replies. She looked around for a clock or some other device that tells the time. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 As Annie talked to the Captain, Warlen turned to mutter something to Quarion, before realising that he was not there. Damn, thought Warlen, thinking back to when he last saw the skull. An image of the head sleeping on the bar popped into his head, and he cursed under his breath, before looking for a clock to see how long the journey over had taken. Quote

Annienal replies. She looked around for a clock or some other device that tells the time. Judging by the position of the sun and the fact that it was past suppertime, the heroes deduced it was somewhere around eight on the afternoon. "I do not know where they hang out, but I'll be damned if I won't find it out the next time they show their faces here. But I have to ask, what do my boys have to do with you buying a ship?" At that moment, the door opened again. In steps a teenage boy who seemed to be in a hurry. "Speak of the sea devil... Cary!" The boy came to a sudden stop. "Uhm... What is it, sir? I'm just poppin' in to get some snacks for Grant and me and the rest of the gang for the demonstration." The captain was fuming. "What gang?! What demonstration?!?!" "Uhm.... *mumble mumble*" "Speak up, son! What exactly are you and Grant doing out there? Answer me, now!" "I'm not supposed to tell, sir..." The boy glances back at the door, contemplating on making a run for it. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) Warlen steps closer to the door, bracing himself to cast a spell if necessary. "Oi, boy, answer your father. Believe me, not doing that can have dire consequences..." Warlen sighed. "And I should know, believe me,"he added turning to show the scar on his face. Sandy Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Miderun shuffled backward, keeping close to the door in case Cary tried to make a break for it. "Does respect for your elders mean nothing on this island? What 'gang' are you talking about, kurai?" "Crap... Alright, me and Grant and couple of other guys from the Academy have formed this group called YoWoB, and..." "Excuse me? Could you speak common tongue so I can understand you as well?" "Oh, sorry. YoWoB is short for Young Wolf Brigade. We're holding a demonstration at the Marketplace, but the stores are closed already so Grant sent me to get some food." "Instead of food, you get to bring me. I will not have my sons causing a riot on the streets - that's unbecoming of the Bullsworth name!" "But it's for a really good cause, sir! Alright, I'll show you the way." "As if you have a choice!" Cary led his father to the Marketplace, and the heroes followed inconspicuously. They found a group of young men and women all wearing dark red and holding plaques. "I cannot believe my eyes!" Another black-haired boy walked to Cary and slapped him in the back of his head. "What the hell, Cary?! Why did you bring father here?" "B-but you said our cause is the right one! Maybe we can get father to support it, too." "I would support that criminal beast for king?! Is there not half a brain your head, son?" "Yeah, where did you leave your brain, brother?" The whole family was suddenly arguing and shouting at each other. How would the heroes react? Quote
CMP Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 "Huh. Reminds of that book you gave me, Annienal." "Well, we can't let these children spew their nonsense. This 'Wolfgang' is obviously an enemy of Heroica, they did just try and kill us earlier. Let's go intimidate them." Miderun cracked her knuckles, then paused and sized up her elven partymates. "...or...I'll go intimidate them, you guys stand there threateningly." Quote
Kintobor Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 "Oh, um... I'm really not good at intimidation at all, but what we really need to do is get these three away from the area before something breaks out, like, um, a riot, or something..." She turned to look at the teenagers protesting, feeling intimidated herself with the signs and the shouting. Quote
CMP Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 "Lucky for you I'm very good at it." Miderun pushed her way into the crowd and forced the quarreling family apart while yelling at them loudly in orcish. "ALRIGHT, EVERYONE BACK UP, ANAR ANH ZOL OLM DAZ MARKRAHN!!" She paused, looking from Bullsworth to his children as her voice rung in the air. "....Now, why are you all ranting about the Wolfgang?" Quote
Sandy Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 "ALRIGHT, EVERYONE BACK UP, ANAR ANH ZOL OLM DAZ MARKRAHN!!" She paused, looking from Bullsworth to his children as her voice rung in the air. "....Now, why are you all ranting about the Wolfgang?" The Bullsworth men looked at Miderun, surprised by her outburst. "My naive sons do not realize that they are being manipulated. This Ulric is crime lord who wants to become a crime king. Of course he would turn to the most impressionable ones to carry his message." "You don't get it! His thoughts actually make sense. We need laws and better chances for everyone here in this city! All my life I've been priviledged, to the point I thought I could do anything without caring about anyone else. That's what you taught me, sir - to always aim at the top, other people and their needs be damned. But what if we started looking out for each other? Wouldn't this be a happier place to live then?" "If only the world worked that way..." The captain sighed. "There will always be parasites who will leech you dry if you show them sympathy. It's the survival of the fittest, son, and all I ever wanted to teach you was how to survive." "Father, if only you read what Ulric has written! We have pamphlets here..." "He can write whatever the damn he wants. I know what the Wolfgang wants. They want total anarchy so they can carry out their criminal lifestyle in peace. Under Ulric's rule, this city would become a den of pirates and thieves." "No, father, he doesn't want that!" "It's no use, Cary. He's too stubborn to believe in anything other than what he has been surrounded all his life. The months we've been out here on the streets have shown us how much the Bonapartes are loathed by the commoners. You think the Admiral is doing good for this city, but he's only causing misery and poverty." Grant glances at Miderun and the others. "Have you heard enough? What do you make of it?" It seems that Captain Bullsworth is dedicated to the Bonapartes, but what is the truth behind the missing weapon shipments? Quote
CMP Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 "Based on what I've seen, you're getting pulled into something you don't know the extent of, raikuun. We were attacked not five hours ago by the Wolfgang who were openly manipulating someone in a position of power to further their own gains. If they're trying to do anything good, they're going about it the wrong way by recruiting traitors, witches, and children to their cause. Like it or not, this city needs people like the Bonapartes. This island would've been razed to the ground by my people long ago if they weren't around to keep order. This Ulric Tirnetzomlo might speak sympathetic words, but that doesn't make his cause any more valid, or even better for Eubric in the long run. If you want to do some good for this backwards city, go and volunteer for some useful work instead of yelling about the Wolfgang out here on the street. Help an alchemist, help build houses, I don't know, just don't waste your time standing out here and trying to tell me that turning Eubric into a KINGDOM is going to make things more fair. Believe me, that is NOT what kings do." Miderun shook her head, turning to Bullsworth as something occurred to her. "Well, we helped find your children...I've got only one question for you. Does an elf named Fogfarer manage your ships' cargo here in the city?" Quote
Kintobor Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Annienal waits in the wings, looking around and trying to avoid eye contact with the students. Even though she felt as if she should've been the one to talk to the students, the last thing she wanted was Miderun angry at her. Quote

Believe me, that is NOT what kings do." The Young Wolf Brigaders began to boo and shout at Miderun and the other heroes, and one of them even dared to throw a cobblestone at them - missing, of course. Then they began to chant "Ulric! Ulric! Ulric!" Clearly Miderun's speech had not impressed them much. On the contrary, the gathered crowd was getting restless and agitated. "Well, we helped find your children...I've got only one question for you. Does an elf named Fogfarer manage your ships' cargo here in the city?" "No. While I respect Fogfarer as a colleague, I like to keep my business separate from his. Besides, lately he has been spouting all sorts of rubbish - much akin to what my sons are doing right now. But if you think he has something to do with the misfortune that has struck my cargo recently, then I would not think so. You see, I keep my documents and schedules at my home office, and even though I have tried to maneuver the cargo to hidden locations, somehow the information has leaked to the thieves despite of it. But why does this concern you?" Quote
Kintobor Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 "I... um, don't think we can do anything to sway these youth. We should, um, leave." I thought there was something fishy going on. Hmm... But how can I trust that you're not Wolfgang spies, trying to get hand into my documents? It is best I just take my boys and we go our separate ways." The captain turned to the boys. "Grant, Cary, you come with me. Now!" Cary was about to obey his father, but Grant had gone red from the face and shaking. "Come, brother. We should go home while we still have one... Grant, what's wrong?" Captain Bullsworth stares at his older son, then shakes his head. "Don't tell me... It was you!" "I had to do it!" Grant blurted out. "For the kingdom's sake! I wanted to meet Ulric, and he wanted those weapons out of Bonaparte hands. " "Grant, you didn't! How could you do that to father's career?!" "The Bonapartes are standing on our way! We want peace and equality to this city, isn't that right? The Bonapartes just want to get rich by exploiting others, just like the Hinckwells and the Shadeaux and every other powerful family and guild here. It has to stop!" The crowd of youth cheered Grant on. "Grant, you're so, like, wise and everything!" "Whoa, man! You're right!" "I'm so impressed." "Are you going to stand in our way as well, father?" Captain Bullsworth buried his face into his hands. More cobblestones and even plaques flew towards him and the heroes. "Please..." The captain said to the heroes. "If you're really from the Town Watch, you must not tell about this to anyone. I can't bear the thought that my son would be hanged for treason..." Are the heroes ready to report back to Blackgull? Quote
CMP Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 "Yeah, great work, kids. Sending weapons to the Wolfperson who wants 'peace'," snapped Miderun. "You're all being used and none of you cannot even see it. " "I can't bear the thought that my son would be hanged for treason..." "Taroksh dyr, are you kidding me? They have rebel children running loose in the city and their best answer is to hang them? This city is basul..." The barbarian shook her head, glancing over the children with obvious annoyance and some pity before jerking her head towards Annienal and Warlen. "I think we're done here." Quote

Grant is old enough to answer for his own actions." "The Wolfgang will protect me!" Grant shouted, half angry and half afraid. "Ulric will not let anyone touch me, not after everything I've done for him." Quote
CMP Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 "The Wolfgang will protect me!" Grant shouted, half angry and half afraid. "Ulric will not let anyone touch me, not after everything I've done for him." "You really believe that, kid?" Miderun crossed her arms. "I've been in this city for only a few months, but I've learned a lot about Eubric. The most recent lesson? Loyalty means nothing to you people. There's no sense of duty, there's no bond among the groups you all claim to serve. You stab eachother in the back without an ounce of honor, and no cause is enough to justify it. Do you really think this Ulric is going to care if a few street rats he's brainwashed go missing in the night? Or has he convinced you that throwing your life away for his thankless, two-faced cause is the only way to prove your loyalty?" The barbarian shoved Grant in the chest, glaring. "You tell me. Who's standing here begging us to save your life - Ulric, or your father?" Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Warlen stayed quiet. He had had experience with the Wolfgang, but that Assasin had been a singular case. No, he'd stay quiet unless he needed to pipe up. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 "Miderun! That's enough." Annienal yells at Miderun, before snapping back to her timid self. "I m-mean, um... he's... clearly made his mind... " Annienal was worried about what would happen to the youth protesting. They'd clearly been dragged into something they didn't understand, and it seemed like they were only going to get themselves hurt. Annienal kept quiet, seemingly hopeless to the fervour brewing in front of her. "I think we'll get going. Bullsworth... take care of yourself, alright?" Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 As soon as the three heroes were out of hearing range, Warlen spoke. He didn't turn his head or stop walking, he just spoke. "So, mighty leader, what's the plan? Snitch on Bullsworths kids, or stay quiet to 'defend his honour'?" He then braced himself, not for Annienal's inevitable indecision, but for Miderun's inevitable outburst of "What? Are you klyzark?" Quote
Sandy Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 "I think we'll get going. Bullsworth... take care of yourself, alright?" The captain gave one last pleading look at the heroes before they left. The crowd of youth was left shouting and jeering after them. Back at Fort Bonaparte, Blackgull was anxiously waiting for the heroes' report. "So, did you find out more than I could? Captain Caldera was brought here in chains earlier. What exactly happened at the Merry Mermaid? Did you find out if Captain Bullsworth had been stealing the weapon shipments himself? And Commander Fogfarer, why has he been speaking against our family?" "Shume'a, I want hear this..." How will the heroes respond? To satisfy Blackgull, they would need to give the truth about at least two of the cases. Quote
