Very nice work, Aaron! That's really impressive, sure the piece is a little rough, but that's easy enough to fix. I'm not all that familiar with the helms you based this off of (if you could provide a reference pic I'd appreciate it), but just my random impression is that the brim is a bit too wide as it is now, though you already noticed that.

Did you just take the KK1 helm and take off the part that wraps around the head, and the bolts

Ah, forgot the ref pic!, but it wasn't the only refrence I had, i used to collect 1/6th scale action figures and a big part of my collection is british troops and such, so I used some of the helmets from those as refrences.

and i did use a KK1 helmet :-P

I haven't seen that third picture yet, that's interesting how you did that. The chinstrap is a separate decal over the smiley face? One cannot tell whether it's a decal or not. *y*

And I was planning on but I forgot to tell you, the guys here would be very interested in this as well. There's a good share of WWII fanatics over there, but of course, you would need to register first.

Ah, so just shorten the brim and you should be fine, though I notice the brim in the reference picture is at a slight angle. For the most accuracy, you could always try disposing with the brim entirely and make your own angled brim out of sculpy or green stuff! I can't wait to see where you'll take this :-)

But he'd get more constructive criticism and advice from the guys here who really know the best way to go about customizing pieces :-P

Well Nate, the smiley face and the chin strap is one whole decal, it comes with the Rebel Trooper decal from Jared Burk's decal site, and that one I used there has a regular smiley face and the one with the chin strap, because im going to try and make a chin strap decal for the top of the helmet. And PPE, yeah, i have an account there, Paul always begged me to come over there and such but it never appealed to me too much:-P

Starwars4J - I was planning to angle the helmet by doing that in the head socket, but last time i tried that it was a futile attempt, and same for sculpty, didnt look too good, so im gonna stick with this design.

EDIT, oh and i forgot to say that Kevin Salm of ABP Bricks might "retail" the British soldier figures im going to make a few months from now. Surprising! Kev despises minifigures and all minifigure parts, I wouldn't have ever expected someone like him to like the helmet X-D

It looks like he's got the customization down, it's just the historical accuracy that still needs to be attending to. I too think the brim is too wide along with a couple others......

Those guys there would appreciate it and give him some historical accuracy tips.

Hmmm....I am not familiar with this Mr. Burk fellow. So it is all one decal, and making one for the top makes great sense. *y*

Ah, so you do. One cannot really tell since you've got a different name on each corner of the internet. :-P Mr. Stintzi did the exact same with me, actually. :-D

I am familiar with that Kaminoan guy, I just didn't know his actual name. I have seen your custom index before also. :-P

:-D I used to be such a WWII nut/nerd, so I dont really need "historical accuracy tips" I think, but I did take out some of the brit helmets I had,and used them for refrences.

Ah, I didnt really figure you had heard of Jared :-P but any hoo heres the rebel trooper decal, and I made a Tantive IV vig awhile back with a couple of them.

Ive been working on some helmets to cast with silicone and make duplicates with resin for quite some time, this is the first. Frankly, I wasn't really planning to make this one, and how it got to be the first one made I dont know... X-D

But any hoo, here it is!

It needs a few touch ups and right now it looks like more of a WWI helmet than a WWII, so ill need to shorten the brim before I cast, unless I do WWI and WWII versions of it, but there dosent seem to be much demand for WWI lego items, so ill just leave it at WWII.

Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks for looking everyone!

Nice Job man. I just recieved some Milliput in order to start sculpting LEGO weapons and accesories. What kind of sculpting medium are you using? Looks like some sort of gray putty.

I'm also curious what kind of Sillicone and Resin you are using and if you like it. I just one to one sillicone from Micromark and there Castin Resin Kit, but havn't used it yet.

Also, where in Arizona are you? I'm sunning myself in a nice Bantha mud wallow right now in North Phoenix.

Keep sculpting those new helms, looking forward to the creations. My focus is going to be the Wild West and I would like to create some brand new swords.

Peace
