Robert8 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I can't wait for a nice medieval Castle series to use all of these recent pieces. The image above by Robert8 left out the Egyptian. I'd like to see that shield in use as well. I was thinking in traditional medieval Castle, but I guess you're correct. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I personally hope that the Scary Knight will be a total reference to Fright Knights. Even rebooting the batlord helmet. That'd be quite nice. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
x105Black Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 The new evil knight hopefully will reuse Egyptian shield piece. I'd love that. Hopefully it has a nice generic feel, or an otherwise useful heraldry. I typically don't like the heraldry on Black and Red shields (outside of the Wolfpack and the 2013 Dragons). Quote

x105Black Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I thought the boar head design for the CMF evil knight was excellent. It wasn't bad, and it was well done. But for me personally, I'm not looking for a Boar faction. Quote
thetang22 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 It wasn't bad, and it was well done. But for me personally, I'm not looking for a Boar faction. From what I've seen in games and fantasy stories, boars are typically a faction for woodland factions, or dwarven factions....neither of which would typically be red and black. Quote
x105Black Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I think it was actually a reference to the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, who had a red boar on his chest. That definitely made me appreciate him more. But still, beyond that I have little use for a Black and Red boar faction. Quote

That reinforces my point :) I don't think many people would try to build a faction out of a singular, obscure reference that goes against lots of the common trends. x105Black Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Well we have the same point. It was someone above us who thought the boar was excellent for an evil faction. In black and red, they've done the Boar, the 2013 Dragon, the Wolf, the Bat, the Scorpion, and the Skull (which isn't wuite the same, but I'm including it anyways). Of these, the Wolf is my favorite heraldry design, and the 2013 Dragon was good. I would have preferred the original Dragon Masters heraldry in that color scheme, as I don't think the last 2 iterations of dragon heraldry lived up to the design. The Boar, Scorpion, and Bat aren't anything I would particularly use, so I have no interest in those shields (though I do prefer the black and red, or even better dark red, color scheme). Quote
AmperZand Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 It wasn't bad, and it was well done. But for me personally, I'm not looking for a Boar faction. Because that would be boaring? :P Quote
Blakstone Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 That's the thing about wanting new heraldry. LEGO cannot meet the individual demands of thousands of AFOLs. I like the Holy Grail reference which determined the color scheme, but I did not see it as representing an entire faction. I have maybe five of these gangs who can easily fight along side another faction. My preference is for LEGO to have new stag and wolf heraldry since it has been a while since those were done and they could be useful for any Game of Thrones style MOCs. But I can easily see how other AFOLs would prefer something else. Quote
BrickJagger Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Because that would be boaring? :P One thing that I don't like about Nexo Knights is the lack of regular shields. The Lava Monsters don't have any at all! Hopefully the "Scary Knight" or "Winged Warrior" from S15 will have shields. Quote

But I can easily see how other AFOLs would prefer something else. I think most would agree with you. We did, sort of, get a new stag design out of the CMF elf. I think it's a great design, it's just too hard to get multiples at this point. One thing that I don't like about Nexo Knights is the lack of regular shields. The Lava Monsters don't have any at all! Hopefully the "Scary Knight" or "Winged Warrior" from S15 will have shields. I think it's reasonable to assume at least one of those will have the new Egyptian warrior mold shield. At least, I hope so. Quote

One thing that I don't like about Nexo Knights is the lack of regular shields. The Lava Monsters don't have any at all! Hopefully the "Scary Knight" or "Winged Warrior" from S15 will have shields. I feel the same way about the shields, and the armor, and the weapons... But I do hope the new CMF series will make use of that great Egyptian shield mold. And I really hope to see it in use in the next Castle theme. Quote
Sorrelon Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I'm a little bit dissapointed with the hairpiece of the Queen, I'd love to have a new hairpiece with a crown, like series 13 King. As for the Scary Knight, I'd love to see a non-human knight. A heavily armored goblin or orc would be really nice. Also, while it'll most probably be a City style thief, I still have hopes for the Jewel Thief being a Castle style thief. A medieval style thief would with right in to almost all Castle sets and MOCs. Quote

Sorrelon Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 All of that sounds good. The medieval thief especially. A simple combo of messenger bag, hood/cowl, short sword/dagger and a jewel could work really well. Hood can even be replaced with a regular hairpiece and that'd still be okay. Perhaps, even a Wolfpack symbol(since they are a bandit faction) on the torso to cause quite a stir amongst Castle fans, like they did with the Forestman minifigure. That would nice but those would be a lot of castle Minifigure together in one wave: The Queen, the Winged Warrior, the Scary Knight and the Thief I think the Winged Warrior can be considered a Mythology minifigure instead of Castle. There are 3 Castle minifigures in series 12 (5, if you consider Battle Goddess and Hun Warrior. And 6 with Genie Girl, though that might be stretching it a bit too far) and also 3 in series 13 (6, if you also add Egyptian Warrior, Samurai and Lady Cyclops). So, with not highly likely, I guess the possibility still stands until we get a leak or confirmation. Quote

Ha ha I agree with you. It'll be nice, but for now, I don't have many hopes regarding the release of Castle theme, and I don't see why it will be more castle minifigs in the CMF series. It is sad but I think we will have to deal with the lack of Classic Castle next year. For me, I just hope the knight will be a good fig. And no matter of its heraldry. Is it for sure the thief will be a medieval one ? I thought more for a City one. Quote

SirBlake Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Did you guys see the new headpiece for the satyr/fawn? Pretty spectacular. While not necessarily a fit for traditional castle, certainly a useful piece for fantasy and mythological stuff. Quote
