CCCXII out with the new: 8877 Black Monarchs Dark Fortress

hey guys,

did you know that 8877 Vladeks Dark Fortress from the Knights Kingdom line was based on a rejected alternative build from the 1988 released Black Monarchs castle? No?

...thats because i made it up. This moc is my entry for the out with the new category. I tried to reimagine the 2005 released 8877 as something that would have been used as one of those alternative builds back in the day (or page from an idea book).

Great remake, looks very old school. the background is a nice touch as well, gives it that 90's feel.

The background definitely gives it the classic feel. Is it done old-skool with lighting and backdrops, or photoshop?

What it lacks is the use of the Yellow and Black half timbered panels, rebuild those two outer towers using the panels and you'd have something that's definitely Black Falcons, whilst still honoring the 8877 design.

Uhm the black knights (with the dragon insignia) did not use it until 1992

And the backdrop was edited using gimp (an open source image editor)

Nice! I like it, feels like oldschool set.

Only doors are hurting my eyes ;) I would use http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=649&colorID=5 or classic - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2554 or bigger version http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6105 .

2 last are not red tho, but they still in fit into old designs very well imho.
