Posted November 27, 201410 yr Hi. Me again. Another old MOC to share with you. I saw this video of drumming fingers on Youtube: It looks interesting and I decided to make my own LEGO version. This is how it looks like: And a short video: Only 130 parts in total. More at: http://rebrickable.c...rumming-fingers Enjoy it!
November 27, 201410 yr Lovely! It depends how much you want to emulate the actual human motion but can I suggest using different cams perhaps to get the fingers in the air for longer? Currently each successive finger rises just as its predecessor drops, so you end up with a sort of spidery action, whereas the physical action of drumming fingers involves all four fingers being in the air at once at the top of the cycle before the little finger drops.

Right, a precise movement depends on the shape of the cams and how you position them on the shaft. But this is the best I can do with standard lego parts while trying to make it as small as a real hand. Edited November 27, 201410 yr by KevinMoo

I understand - the size problem is definitely something I've run into, with mechanisms necessitating a much larger model than I'd hoped!
February 18, 20178 yr Wow! I found this just now and notice that we saw the same video and decided to make a lego version of it! Didn't even see yours! Here is mine if you are interested: http://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-6740/ThinkCleverAndSmart/waiting-hand/
