Posted November 28, 201410 yr selling like hot cakes and unavailable online anywhere. Going for £50+ on eBay. Such a great product for kids and big kids surprised they haven't kept up with demand. I picked up the 2013 one half price a week into December last year! Edited November 28, 201410 yr by markw
November 29, 201410 yr Yes, I have mine for this year, as well as an unopened second copy of the 2012 one; I plan to enjoy both of them over next month. I never did get a copy of the 2013 one, alas, but I have two apiece of both the previous years' ones, as well as the single copy of this year's.
November 29, 201410 yr I recently got mine too. I am eagerly awaiting December as I will open both 2013 and 2014 advent calendars
November 29, 201410 yr Yep, I've got mine as well. The tip with Advent Calendars is to get them when they come out, which in this case is September 1st for most places. I made the mistake in 2011 of assuming they would still be in stock by around mid-November and couldn't purchase one.
November 29, 201410 yr I've had one for the past two years, and haven't been able to find this new one at all!
November 29, 201410 yr Stupid me, you were writing about Star Wars calendars. Missed the banner as well... Nevermind. Offer deleted.
November 29, 201410 yr I thought my wife ordered it weeks ago, but I was mistaken. She just ordered it today from Amazon.... with a bit of a markup over RRP. It should be here on Dec 2nd, so I will have two builds to do that day. :)
November 30, 201410 yr Yes, I'll be doing the SW Advent and my daughter will do the Friends one. (She doesn't know it yet, though.)
December 1, 201410 yr Yep, I've got mine as well. The tip with Advent Calendars is to get them when they come out, which in this case is September 1st for most places. I made the mistake in 2011 of assuming they would still be in stock by around mid-November and couldn't purchase one. I'll remember this next time... I figured it wouldn't sell out until after Thanksgiving, but I wasn't paying attention to December beginning so soon after Thanksgiving! Since they sold out a couple weeks ago, I nabbed one on Bricklink...hopefully it'll arrive this week! First time I've really wanted one of the SW calendars... last Advent I got was the Kingdoms one a few years ago.
December 2, 201410 yr So I've gone ahead and done Day 1 for both calendars (2012 & 2014), and of course both first-day builds are blue & gray vehicles we were introduced to in Episode I (and yes, I know the AAT wasn't that color in that movie, but still). A little more same-day diversity would be nice, but then I imagine LEGO's calendars can't take into account fans who do multiple years' calendars together (and there are surely other fans who actually prefer such superficially similar, complementary builds together). Anyway, we're off!
December 2, 201410 yr Picked up every years version, this is one of my favourite parts of this time of year.
December 3, 201410 yr Mine arrived yesterday, just in time! Very glad to get it... I think today was my first Super Battle Droid ever. Oh how I hate it.
December 3, 201410 yr This is the first year I ended up picking up the advent calendar at a mark up instead of a discount. I couldn't break up a streak though, so I had to get it.
December 3, 201410 yr I assumed that today's build was like an e-web cannon for a clone trooper. Apparently it's an actual vehicle.
December 3, 201410 yr Yes, it's a micro version of the Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon from TCW, still available in stores.
December 4, 201410 yr Yes, it's a micro version of the Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon from TCW, still available in stores. I have the Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon set , and I find it very boring. I wouldn't recommend buying it!
December 4, 201410 yr I've only considered the set because it has Plo Koon and a couple Wolfpack clones (but not, sadly, Wolffe himself) and because I have the Umbaran MHC, sort of a counter to it... but it's not a very strong urge to get the set.
December 5, 201410 yr I've only considered the set because it has Plo Koon and a couple Wolfpack clones (but not, sadly, Wolffe himself) and because I have the Umbaran MHC, sort of a counter to it... but it's not a very strong urge to get the set. I just watched TCW episode with the MHCs... those things are pretty cool looking, and tough to kill. What do you think of the set?
December 5, 201410 yr I liked the build, tho agree with others who think the cannon is mounted pretty flimsily (it's sturdy, it just looks flimsy). I haven't tried modding it yet for a more robust cannon mount; I like the legs a lot, and the Umbarans are great! Makes me wish George hadn't stuck with droids for the primary Separatist forces. I understand why he did it, but Battle Droids & SBDs have just always bugged me, movie-wise and as toys (especially SBDs). Had Umbarans and the like been in the films, we might have had some nice action figures from Hasbro...or they could've ended up like the Neimoidian Warrior (looks great, but horrid articulation and a lousy action-feature with an oversized rocket-launching weapon).
December 6, 201410 yr Oh I agree with you, there could have been quite a few things that would have made those films better. Thanks for the advice about the MHC.
December 9, 201410 yr Have TLG done something different with the minifigs in the calendar? The torso and legs feel lighter, like the CMF series. I've never noticed this in previous calendars
December 9, 201410 yr I'm just surprised at how many minifigs there are compared to the Friends advent...
December 9, 201410 yr Have TLG done something different with the minifigs in the calendar? The torso and legs feel lighter, like the CMF series. I've never noticed this in previous calendars I haven't noticed anything like that, and truth be told, I don't think the "CMFs" are really much lighter, either. But you could try weighing them... I'm just surprised at how many minifigs there are compared to the Friends advent... TLG puts fewer minidolls in sets in general than they do minifigures, probably because of the cost. They're less standardized (there are a number of different arm, torso, hips and legs molds for them that all get used a fair bunch, whereas nearly all minifigures use the same parts for the basic anatomy, with the various exceptions like peg legs and so on making up only a tiny percentage of the total), plus they've been around way less time. Right now, no minidolls-based set has more than four figures (and I think there's only one with that many), whereas there are several minifigure-based sets with figure counts in double digits. I suspect that with time, as cost amortization (from both time, and increasing numbers of themes using minidolls such as Disney Princesses and Elves) makes minidolls less costly, they'll become more plentiful in sets, but I also think it's going to take a while.
