Posted December 3, 201410 yr I just got a copy of 9398 and I'm wondering if there are any good mods with 2+ XL's for propulsion. I did some searches and couldn't find anything that resembled 9398.
December 3, 201410 yr I'm not sure why that would be an improvement. The L motor was developed with this application in mind and it works perfectly. The crawler has the power to go over anything reasonable. An XL motor has more torque but I don't think you'd be able to use any of it, and it would take a lot more room.
December 3, 201410 yr Here for complete instructions. I have a 9398 with those right now and it's a nice upgrade over the L-motors. But nowhere near my 4XL... :P http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=529528 Edited December 3, 201410 yr by Mikuri

There's a reason why designers have put L motor in the Crawler. When it hits wall, motors stop. XL would grind the gears.

December 5, 201410 yr Author This quite a good 9398 xl motor mod hope this helps Doug Thanks! I'll start with Sariel's gear reduction, change the wheels, and see if I can still use that extra torque! There's a reason why designers have put L motor in the Crawler. When it hits wall, motors stop. XL would grind the gears. Why would the Crawler hit a wall? its an outdoor toy
