5imon Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Too bad I came to the forum too late to participate. But on the other hand, seeing all the great entries, my chances would probably have been slim... So, congratulations to all the participants and especially the merited winners. As a kind of 8071 fan (yeah, I really think this is underrated) I'm already looking forward to build my own copy of the winning entry. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Well done all. The excavator was top notch. Quote
TGBDZ Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) You should see my face right now - as happy as a 5 year old kid, getting his first long desired bricks . I never thought I'd ever acomplish something like this, but now you guys made it all happen. I thank all who supported me and all the participants, to make it such an exciting race with so many great models. Thank you Jim and EB for putting up such a great contest. Congratulations to TGBDZ - an undisputed champion without a single doubt and to Doc_Brown: When you posted your buggy, I thought: "There go all my chances." Someone here said, there were so many "boring" buggies that entered - well, I am happy mine was the most "boring" of them all . Thanks again, best regards, miha Thanks! I thought that you will be the winner actually when I saw your model :) So I'm happy that you got the second place because you deserved it :) Can't wait for the next competition :D And thanks again everyone for the support and kind words! :) And yeah, forgot to say thanks to Jim for organizing and making this possible :) Too bad I came to the forum too late to participate. But on the other hand, seeing all the great entries, my chances would probably have been slim... So, congratulations to all the participants and especially the merited winners. As a kind of 8071 fan (yeah, I really think this is underrated) I'm already looking forward to build my own copy of the winning entry. I bought the 8071 because it looks cool in my opinion.. I guess the real problem is that nobody likes bucket trucks in real life.. You see a buggy, you think it's cool, then you see an excavator - it's cool too, and when you see a bucket truck you think that it's nothing special.. maybe that's why there is a lot of people who isn't very optimistic about this set :) I'ts nice to see that a lot of people want to make my model, I get warm and fuzzy feeling inside :D the instructions can be found here :) http://rebrickable.com/mocs/tgbdz/wheeled-excavator-tc5 Edited December 15, 2014 by TGBDZ Quote
Jim Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 I have awarded the appropriate medals! Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Concrats to al the winners  Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 @Jim: Thanks, and a 16t as well! This is a bit of topic, but is it possible to put a link to the contest results thread on each medal. Since I've been on the forum for a couple of months only, many times I would like to know for what other member got their medals so it would make it much easier than to deep search the forum. Also, are there any explanations to all the "stripes" that appear below members avatars? Some have so many like they are almost WWII heroes Thanks again! Quote
XAxles Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Remember when I said no buggy will win this contest? There will be that man who will say: "Where's your God now?" Still, congrats, especially to the Hybrid Rocket Buggy. Quote

Appie Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Congrats all, especially the number 1, awesome model. Thanks everybody who voted for mine Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes I also have to thank to everyone who voted for the Foxy, you guys are great! Almost got a medal Quote
paul_delahaye Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Congrats to the winners, I feel a little sorry for the Nil pointers, a bit like Britain in Eurovision! Sorry guys Quote
Tomik Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) Congarulations to winners! TGBDZ's excavator is really awesome model and it 100% deserves 1st place. There is also one interesting conclusion from contest results - if you wanna win you'll have to build wheeled vehicle - 7 out of first 10 models are wheeled vehicles! And I also wanna thank to all who gave me votes. Edited December 15, 2014 by Tomik Quote
jantjeuh Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 100% deserved winner IMO, even though there were a lot of great entries. Well done all! Quote

BusterHaus Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Kudos to all the winners; very well done. Quote
Erik Leppen Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) if you wanna win you'll have to build wheeled vehicle - 7 out of first 10 models are wheeled vehicles! 37 of all 46 entries are wheeled vehicles (If you include the three aircraft, which also have small wheels, it's 40 out of 46). So we have All entries: 80% wheeled Top ten: 70% wheeled So if there's any conclusion it's that wheeled vehicles are less likely to end up as top ten, not more likely as you claim. I am thinking about creating a summary topic for all contests, with the medal winners etc. That's a great idea. After all, the entry topic was already deeply hidden, let alone the topics for previous contests. :) Edited December 16, 2014 by Erik Leppen Quote
Jim Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 That's a better way of looking at the outcome! I will create a summary soon! Quote
torso Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I was surprised by those as well. Especially the clock. Very original model, but I didn't think it would end so high. Well, that's part of the fun, isn't it! Seems like originality will get you far, but that it's not enough. I knew it was a bit weak, but it was the best I could do with the available pieces. Thank you for the support. I'll try to come up with unexpected entries in future competitions too. After all, I need the practise. Quote

XAxles Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 All that jazz and no one has whacked me for saying a buggy will never get podium spots in this contest? Quote
veryhappy Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Congratulations to the winners and, of course, to everyone else :) Quote
sm 01 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Congarulations to the winners! This was fun, we should do it again. Quote
ms09 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Congarulations to the winners! BTW, what is the topic of TC6? Quote
Jim Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 BTW, what is the topic of TC6? Probably PF. Oops, did I say that out loud Quote
