Hammerhand Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) Here's my entry to the CMF Challenge - Nocturnus Heavy Dwarven Infantry This race of tall dwarves live in the rugged mountains of Nocturnus, and are known for their brute strength. They form a virtually impenetrable shield wall when in groups using their large shields, which are inscribed with charms against enchanted pumpkin pies, and such devilry... Imperial soldier The imperial soldier is part of the elite guard of one of Nocturnus's leading resistance fighters. These warriors must go through grueling training, usually involving withstanding extreme abuse and pain, in order to become a part of the guard, so that they will not give away information if captured. Orc Guard Just your generic orc guard who loves brawling. He's a real stickler with his spear though. Grizknash Orcenshield This orc has risen to become a feared chieftain, earning his name when he faced down an elf with nothing but a dagger and another orc that he grabbed to use as a (orcen) shield. Kaliphlin Kaliphlin Noble-woman The wife of a rich Kaliphlinian lord, she loves to be the center of attention at the lavish parties thrown by other nobility. You'll always find her with a goblet full of the finest wine in her hand, and a platter of exotic foods near by. Presumably she has to have several of her maids help her put her corset on in order to hide the evidence of such a lavish life... Kaliphlin Nobleman The rich lord himself, he's always looking to get the better end of a deal. If he feels he's not, he always has a few tricks... err, daggers, up his sleeve. Treasury Guard Well, someone has to guard all of the nobleman's gold. Kaliphlin Emissary He's there to smooth relation's between guilds, and to ensure that trade keeps flowing. And of course he has a contract ready at hand, "to keep those drunk barbarians from changing their minds"... Mitgardia Jarl Heiðrún Jarl Heiðrún is just a chap who likes wielding his axe, wrestling bears, and yellow socks. Enough said. Northman warrior One of the fierce raiding warriors from way up north in Mitgardia, he follows his Jarl in hopes to earn another arm band, which will undoubtedly make him a most desirable prospect for those bearded woman of the frozen north. Selkie maiden One of the mythical seal people, she is always hunting for food, whether it's a fresh fish, or an unsuspecting mitgardian sailor. Sea Trader He's weathered many a storm on his trusty ship, and will only accept the most experienced sailors for his crew; how else could he survive his crazy trade ventures? Avalonia Avalonian Ranger This woodsman guards the lands of Avalonia in secret, protecting its people from the dangers and evils that plague Historica, and slipping back into the woods when his job is done. Yeah, he's a bit antisocial. Wood Elf One of the race of wood elves that make their home in the ancient forests of Avalonia, he's faced down many threats throughout the history of Historica. Soldier of Ferinwæld The standard soldier of the lands of Ferinwæld, he fights for Avalonia with valor. Tavern-hopper This Avalonian just loves to have a good drink with friends in one of the many fine taverns throughout Avalonia. He's always ready with a good story, usually involving the magical powers of trees, flowers, and tights. Phew, coming up with descriptions for all of the minifigs was hard... I apologize for the randomness of it. This was a fun challenge though! I tried to come up with minifigs that I would actually use, and ones that portray how I picture the different guilds. So you might start seeing them appear in future builds! C&C welcome! Edited December 15, 2014 by Hammerhand Quote
Alfadas Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Very nice figs! Love the 2 Mitgardian soldiers! Basically all the figs are great! Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Nice entry! All these flesh entries make we wish I had also gone that way. Out of these the imperial soldier jumps out at me. It might just be the name but he really reminds me of the imperial soldiers from the game Oblivion. Quote
Garmadon Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Nice series Hammerhand, my favorites are the Heavy Dwarven Infantry (great description !), Kaliphlinian Nobleman, and Northman Warrior Quote

Rogue Angel Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Great series! I like both the Kaliphin nobles and the Tavern Hopper. I really like your shield variety, and the use of the Viking shields, which are underused IMO. Quote
LordDan Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Nice series, the descriptions are very entertaining. I particularly like the Kali noble and orcenshield Quote
JaseTJ Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Was that Emissary based on Varrick? Haha, 'cause that's a great face/hair combo for him :P Got some good 'figs overall, regardless :) Quote
MKJoshA Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I really like the spear you've made for your Treasury Guard. I may borrow that sometime. Quote
mrcp6d Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Great series! My favorite is the nobleman, gotta watch out for those daggers! Phew, coming up with descriptions for all of the minifigs was hard... I apologize for the randomness of it. I think you hit them spot on. A sentence or two for each with a bit of humor. If we're supposed to be emulating TLG's minifig lines, I think you nailed it. Quote

I like the Treasury Guard best because of his unique shield! Thanks mccoyed! The shield was my attempt at a tower shield/roman scutum shield, since I don't own any of the actual ones. Great series! I like both the Kaliphin nobles and the Tavern Hopper. I really like your shield variety, and the use of the Viking shields, which are underused IMO. Thanks Rogue! I agree about the viking shields, they can be really useful for more variety. Nice series, the descriptions are very entertaining. I particularly like the Kali noble and orcenshield Cheers LordDan! Was that Emissary based on Varrick? Haha, 'cause that's a great face/hair combo for him :P Got some good 'figs overall, regardless :) Thanks man! And nah, the fig was originally just an accident, but then I liked it! I really like the spear you've made for your Treasury Guard. I may borrow that sometime. Thank you MKJoshA! And be my guest with the spear! I based it on the spears the Gondor soldiers use in LOTR. Great series! My favorite is the nobleman, gotta watch out for those daggers! I think you hit them spot on.
