TheNextLegoDesinger Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I prefer realistic models with proper proportions that look like the real machines in general. That said, simply, FOR ME, being modelled after a specific machine doesn't add much value for a model, and I simply fully disagree with the "challenge is non existent" argument. For the examples Jorge posted: I see some differences, but I don't see significantly more challenge in making them look like the specific real machines. EDIT: Maybe I still misunderstand Jorge's comment and take things too literally. English is not my native language. that's what i meant it can made like the machine but it doesn't have to be exactly the shape of it. My buggy is an example of that. You have a lot of different buggy's in real live: front engine, rear engine, dune buggy like in GTA. A lot of different way's to make it The same thing to Weavil his loader, does it look like a volvo? Nope. Does it looks like a loader? Yes, there are a lot of different way's to make a car. I more like a car that looks good than a car that should look like a car that doesn't look like that specific car at all Quote
BachAddict Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I think my comment contributed to the flare-up. I was actually thinking that if weavil had been looking at a real loader his cab might have been more realistic :) Quote
jono rocky Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I think we all need to agree to disagree on what we look for, what we build and what inspires us. If we all thought and did everything the same it would be a pretty boring contest with 43 of the same technic models ( and the lego group would never of come up with Benys spaceship so my youngest son wont be running around the house with it saying "spaceship, spaceship spaceshiiiiip"). Its great that the models are so different to each other eg. the loaders. Maybe the next contest should include a work in progress thread were people give advice on the build to help those (like on my first attempt which it helped me) who may need help. Lego real life replica models are truly amazing and we had a few in this contest where i had to look twice to see it was lego but on the other side of it all we had some truly original models like a spider. So its safe to say we are all original lego modders and thats what makes it interesting. Its time to move on and just be amazed in what was built. Just my 2c worth. Quote
falconluan Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I'm sure thai I can't win, But I'm thinking about how much sbrick could improve My MOCs, Winners should make a moc with their prizes or show how their entry was improved by sbrick ;) Good idea and my model can definitely benefit from the SBrick, with one SBrick instead of 2 IR receivers, the doors can be made slide open Pity that haven't gotten many points so far, anyway, it feels good being part of the great contest, Quote
BachAddict Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Now the big question... Who's making instructions?! I plan to make an LXF file! Quote
Lipko Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Now the big question... Who's making instructions?! I plan to make an LXF file! I have an LXF file, and maybe I'll make instructions for the gut of the steering, it's very tricky to assemble. Quote
Epic Technic Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Sadly no instructions for any of my entries... They're all dead. :( Quote
Appie Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Now the big question... Who's making instructions?! I plan to make an LXF file! I am thinking of making a LDD of Wall-E, but having never built something in LDD before, that might take some time. Quote
PKW Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Could make an LDD without electronics but I think my MOC isn't really interesting and I don't want to waste time :( Quote
