I want to make a wip topic, but I don't want people to see the car till its finished, because I

want it to be a surprise. Maybe when the car is 95% complete I'll make a topic about it

In that case a WIP topic isn't very useful. Wait till the last day to create your topic.

Or listen to Legomuppet and simply create your topic.

Can I use a non lego pen? Dont really want to spend 5 quid on one of these:

I reckon you are building some sort of machine?! In that case you can use third party pens or pencils

Sorry if this has been answered but can you use 3rd party tires?

And can you use just the springs from shocks?

Cheers.

I would say no to both

You should start a TC6 topic for it, I'd like to see the chassis.

The chassis is complete, I just need to install the engine and then I can get started on the bodywork. The bodywork will take 2 to 3 days to complete but today I can do it because I have to visit someone all day from 3pm to about 10pm (English time). And tomorrow I'll be very busy as well, and all next week I'll be even more busy. Next saturday I should have time, and I should make a topic next week, the car should be finished in about a week.

Hi Folks,

I have two questions about this contest:

1 - I have seen the question being asked before, but I could not find the answer to it so I ask again - Can I use custom made stickers?

2 - The photos and video of the final MOC can be posted on my Facebook page, or do they have to be posted somewhere specific?

Thanks,

Ode

1. Yes, you can.

2. ENTRY POST

The entry post in the entry topic should contain:

  • Entry name
  • Short summary of the functions.
  • One or more images
  • Video (mandatory)
  • Link to the discussion topic

so, you must show your moc on eurobrick, on specific topic, not on your facebook page.

If I built a vehicle with skid steering would it count as one or two functions as it uses both outputs of the receiver but uses both to drive and steer(sorry if this is hard to understand).

IMO 2 functions. Just like drive and steer.

Like the other guys said; it's two functions. It's all about using the outputs. Skid steering uses two ports.

A bit late, but let's stick to Lego tires for the entry model (video and pictures). You can show the model with 3rd party tires in your discussion topic if you like.

Why do you want to use the spring only?

1. Yes, you can.

Agreed!

Showing a model on Facebook is allowed too, but showing it in the entry topic is mandatory.

maybe just another lame question ... but I have to ask:

what is about a 5th motor built in, which will running continuously when the battery box or any power supply just turned on ? :)

maybe for a flashing light or any other function, what is maybe count, maybe not, because anyway the plan is to use another 4 motor with the 2 IR Receivers of course. And if I will be able to complete my plan that creation will be able to re-place with Sbrick and still it will be some RC creation ... :)

I am just asking it while there was - didn't find it today - at the rules something like "use 4 motors, no more no less" ... ?!

does my question make sense? :)

I wanted to use just the springs to create a much smaller shock.

So I guess that's not ok?

It might be, as all 3 parts of a shock absorber are classified as different parts, it's not like you are cutting parts or modifying, it's just taking them apart, and they can be reassembled back together with ease, it would be no different than taking parts off of a minifig, such as removing the arms or hands.

I like this point of view. Go ahead!

Hi,

This is stated in the rules:

You need to utilize 4 output ports of the IR Receivers/SBrick (not counting LEDs)

This means you need to use 4 motors

Exception 1: you can multiplex multiple motors on a single output (for driving for example, when you need more torque)

Exception 2: a constantly running compressor

When you look at exception 2 it only mentions a constantly running compresssor.

LEDs can be used and don't count towards the ports used.

HI, I was wondering because my dragline is almost finished and there is still a lot of time left, can I build a second entry (+ topic) but only enter one of them?

Knock yourself out! You can make as many MOCs as you like. As long as you only enter one in the contest

Hello, Can you use more than 4 ports?

I currently have two motors for drive using one port (one function), two motors for steer, using two ports because it crab steers (I consider this one function), one port is used for the compressor, and two ports for winch systems front and rear (I consider this to be one function as well). So.. six ports with four IR controlled functions. This set up requires three IR receivers or two s bricks

Whats the point then for all the other guys trying to build entries with just 4 ports?

Constantly running compressor is allowed, and not count as function.

You normal steer/crab steer is clearly two functions, not one.

Hi Milan, I can understand what you mean with the crab steering especially with it using two servos. its also worth mentioning that my drive motors also power PTOs, this is done by having gears after the diffs.

I guess my question is then, is this competition based on four ports only or can four or more ports be used? and can I have more than four powered functions?

Hi,

Don't make it more complicated than necessary. Here are the rules:

Ok Thanks Jim, I will leave this one out of the competition because it uses more than four IR ports.

Cool. Thanks for understanding
